Starts off promising, then segues into trans apologia and mealy-mouthed justifications why she hasn’t taken further action

Totally bloody horrified by this. Caroline Lucas should be ashamed of herself reiterating the 'transwomen are women's nonsense. There are serious doubts over this person's position but big boo hoo because transwomen have it tough and we can't possibly follow due process. Truly shameful

placemats · 30/08/2018 18:49

The AC retweet regarding the children playing with lingerie, dildos and condoms was posted three years ago.

Which makes it worse.

VickyEadie · 30/08/2018 18:36

And the fact that AC is still on twitter (still with her official GP title) posting insults to Graham Lineham and pictures of kids playing with vibrators (I kid you not).

Indeed.

Politically homeless the lot of us. Yup.

Oldstyle · 30/08/2018 18:34

I'm staggered by this to be honest - and so disappointed. It's full of lies and half-truths and displays a staggering lack of insight about the impact of the proposed changes on the rights of women and girls. Politicians have advisors. The GP advisors must all be activists or half-wits, or a combination of both. And the fact that AC is still on twitter (still with her official GP title) posting insults to Graham Lineham and pictures of kids playing with vibrators (I kid you not).
Politically homeless the lot of us.

VickyEadie · 30/08/2018 18:32

So she is covering up for the way her party allowed a man who raped and tortured a child to play an active role in making policy.

What an evil woman.

Ac active role in making policy that would destroy safeguarding of children, no less.

thecatfromjapan · 30/08/2018 18:32

Popchyk

You've nailed it.

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 30/08/2018 18:31

Ah yes, voluntarily jumping under the bus to save him...

Popchyk · 30/08/2018 18:30

Dear blokes with ill intent towards women and children,

Please join us. You'll be glad to hear that we have no safeguarding policy and no accountability for individual members. In addition, if you claim to be trans, we will work very hard to ensure that we hide all evidence of your dodgy behaviour. We will also ensure that anyone who witnesses or tries to question your behaviour will be silenced, harassed and intimidated.

Please don't feel put off joining us by your complete ignorance of green issues. You only need to make a commitment to silencing and hounding women. That's all we ask.

Yours sincerely,

The Greens

Ekphrasis · 30/08/2018 18:29

This article is the biggest example of whatabouttery I've seen in a long while.

OnlyObjectivity · 30/08/2018 18:27

I’ve not seen any evidence that self-declaration has been routinely abused to gain illegitimate access to women-only spaces

Oh - it has to be routinely abused for it to count... I see...

thecatfromjapan · 30/08/2018 18:24

Beyond

Caroline is standing down.

If Jeremy said anything, come election time, this would be on the pamphlet of every Party canvassing against him.

But you're right.

Looks like getting covered in shit is a woman's job.

thecatfromjapan · 30/08/2018 18:22

MorrisZapp I don't think we are her target voters.

The Green Party have firmly set their sights on voters who will tolerate anything, question nothing, and be docile, obedient fodder.

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 30/08/2018 18:22

Side point, but I want to know why Johnathan isn't getting involved with this at all?

Why does he get to stay muck-free? He's just as liable (admittedly he has not released such a peculiar TWAW statement as Caroline, but why is she the only one being pressured to respond?)

thecatfromjapan · 30/08/2018 18:20

Nice spot, Floisme.

Given that the police should have informed the GP that the Coventry HQ was a crime scene, back when the charges were brought, it seems unlikely no-one other than Aimee knew about the charges against DC.

Similarly, there is the tweet from - agh!! What was her name?? - saying Aimee gave a false name for her father prior to his attendance at GP events in 2017-8. And the suggestion AC was told to do this.

If people in the GP did know, Caroline Lucas' statement just swims in cynicism: make it all about transphobia, all about AC, to cover up the question: who in the Green Party knew? What did the Green Party know?

Ariclock · 30/08/2018 18:18

Caroline is desperately trying to hold onto her job, that's obvious. I'm actually really disappointed in her as a person not just as a politician. To show such little compassion towards the ten year old victim and by writing such a pathetic statement she has shown her true colours. Shame on her Angry

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 30/08/2018 18:18

"Caroline admits to having to bend her views to fit with trans ideology"

I think that's what is particularly jarring for me. She outright says that she - at one point - understood actual feminism (for females), but has decided not to believe her own testimony and has instead been brainwashed. I'd pity her if I wasn't so bloody livid right now. Think I'm gonna join Lang in stepping away for a bit... Angry

gendercritter · 30/08/2018 18:15

Rabbits I think your analogy is spot on. And you're quite right

theOtherPamAyres · 30/08/2018 18:13

I am going for a walk and I may be some time.

I can't tell you how sickened I feel. All those years working for the Green party were wasted years.

MorrisZapp · 30/08/2018 18:13

The Greens make Ryanair look like an open, honest and responsive organisation.

We can shout, scream, explain calmly or yell our heads off. She doesn't give a shit. She'll just keep us on hold and refuse to answer anything that costs her anything.

She is a cowardly, cynical, morally bankrupt human being and I hope the loses whatever tiny shred of credibility she's ever had with mainstream voters.

Why does she hate us? We're her fucking core target voters.

Macareaux · 30/08/2018 18:09

"My party has long recognised that trans women are women and trans men are men. That’s been upheld by the law since 2004"

But that is only the case in law if you have a GRC. And fewer than 5000 people do. And even then it is a legal fiction.

Caroline admits to having to bend her views to fit with trans ideology. And to think I used to give her so much more credit for critical thinking. I can only assume she feels she has more to lose personally by being gender critical than by being pro trans ideology.

One thing is certain, if Aimee was a (natal) woman then not only would she not have had such a meteoric rise for a 20 year old, she would have been out on her ear. Of that I have NO doubt.

Floisme · 30/08/2018 18:08

I notice Caroline Lucas has not repeated the statement that The Green Party were unaware of the charges against the child rapist and torturer, David Challenor when they were using his home as local HQ and making use of his services as an election agent and party activist.

Does this mean they are withdrawing that claim?

If any members of the Green Party are reading, can they throw any light on it?

placemats · 30/08/2018 18:08

Still not getting it Rabbits

I don't get notifications when you @ me btw.

placemats · 30/08/2018 18:06

Can someone please explain to me how Aimee Challenor is a trans person other than she declared she was trans by coming out at the age of sixteen.

sociopathsunited · 30/08/2018 17:59

A world where Aimee is protected is here, right now. Aimee has more women's fucking rights than I do, and I'm a woman born. Meanwhile, in Caroline's current world, it's biological women and all children who don't matter. Not one jot. In fact, they're not even women. They're "non-men".

Caroline, one day you are going to wake up and realise you're way above your neck in shit. Don't expect the TRAs to pull you out of it, they're more likely to use you as a stepping stone and force your head RIGHT under. Don't count on us helping you, either. You're on your own.
