www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/decisions-led-dad-become-transgender-1944624

"As well as having made the huge decision to begin transgender treatment, Martin also decided that he would not hide any longer.

He would come out as a transgender woman - as Katie - in a way which was very publicly indeed.

Since then, he has been shouting his experiences from the rooftops via social media and local radio and – by and large – has received something of a hero’s welcome."

"Martin/Katie was not only heterosexual, he wanted a child.

He cut his hair, fell in love and the couple had a child together, who is the apple of his eye.

Then in May last year, Martin went to see a clairvoyant he had met at a business networking meeting.

“I went along for a reading because I’d never been to one and I was intrigued,” she says.

What she told him was that he needed to start a new way of being and said there was a part of him that had always been there but that he was not fully in integrity with."

"after that, my gender dysphoria increased dramatically – I was so desperate to identify myself I even Googled ‘what gender is Martin Neeves?’ ”

Desperate, confused and in turmoil, he joined a support group on social media and someone suggested he should see a specialist gender counsellor.

After four successful sessions, in which he says he "hit the ground running", he felt that he was "gender fluid" ("nature doesn’t do black and white, it presents a whole spectrum.")"

"Katie now says: “After counselling and working through therapy on how to identify your gender, I now know I am 70 percent female and 30 percent male.

"It was my fear stopping me from admitting I am actually a transgender woman.”

A second visit to the clairvoyant resulted in a four-hour clarification session using deep meditation and other methods as a way of encouraging and revealing inner truth, with all the answers coming from Martin."

"She looks wonderful and feels great. Her prescribed hormones have made her skin soft, and as a naturally slightly-built person, she has an enviable figure.

She counts herself lucky as many other transgender women are naturally of a heavy build.

Brave determination has paid off, she is happier and more relaxed than ever.

Katie’s name will not be considered for the long waiting list for the actual operation to make her into a woman sexually, until she has lived full-time for a woman as a year."

@RatRolyPoly @terryleather

I hope you will be policing all of the threads that discuss people in news articles? Mumsnet gets a lot of threads on celebs, such as Meghan Markle, Jordan, Holly Willoughby, and so forth. Will you also be policing those threads?

RatRolyPoly · 29/08/2018 12:44

Nopes don’t tell me what to do

Wouldn't dream of it, but if you want to change the world you need to talk to the organ grinder not the monkey.

RatRolyPoly · 29/08/2018 12:44

My humanity and morality isn't restricted to only responding to what you define as a feminist issue.

I wouldn't suggest that it was, it's just entirely transparent to me that this trans person is getting a massive ad hominem kicking on the feminism board. I didn't realise feminism took a specific dislike to low profile trans individuals these days, I stupidly thought the issue was one of safeguarding women and girls.

This person getting a woman’s award ffs

Take it up with the awarding body if you're so het up about it.

It's not Katie's fault that she was given an award. She believes she's entitled to receive it in line with having been awarded it - I think that's quire reasonable of her. If you have such a super duper problem with her getting this award, start a massive long thread slagging off the awarder. What the fuck has Katie got to do with it, other than not sacrificing her award on the basis of your principles?

tiktok · 29/08/2018 12:40

Now we have Rat proclaiming Martin/Katie as a fighter against patriarchy .....

Rat - this person has no regard for his female relatives. Women do not parade kink as heroics - fetishes which require the compliance and approbation of women (as this one does) are part of patriarchal, oppressive behaviours.

birdbandit · 29/08/2018 12:39

littlbrowndog · 29/08/2018 12:39

This person getting a woman’s award ffs

That is plain wrong

It was nicked off a woman

Martin even say that Martin is only like 70% woman

How does that work ?

birdbandit · 29/08/2018 12:38

Also, not massively impressed with this individual winning "woman's" awards, after crossdressing for 8 months.

Again, this isn't a transphobic response, this is a "that person is an arrogant twonk if they imagine they are qualified to apply/receive an award for which they are less experienced than other candidates" response.

RatRolyPoly · 29/08/2018 12:37

That's not a trans issue, that's a person being a selfish arse issue.

Not actually a feminist issue then.

birdbandit · 29/08/2018 12:35

I have a problem with this individual prioritising their desire to have a child, over being honest with their partner. A partner who will only get to see the child she bore for 50% of the time, one the "truth" is out and if they divorce.

That's not a trans issue, that's a person being a selfish arse issue.

If a person publishes their risible story, then the public will comment on said inanity.

You can't shame me for finding the ludicrous, ludicrous.

RatRolyPoly · 29/08/2018 12:30

I've only just popped back along to the Fem boards Tiny, and mostly just to fight for team Katie who is taking a wholly unwarranted kicking for simply being trans.

Dommina · 29/08/2018 12:29

I agree with you rat.

I'm pretty on the fence with the GC stuff -
it's this kind of nastiness which makes sure I will never be full blown GC.

Katie has done nothing wrong. She's getting on with her life and she's happy. As rat said, debate and challenge the principles of gender. Attacking individuals is nasty.

TinyRick · 29/08/2018 12:28

Rat How come I don't see you on this thread? So much misgendering on it...

RatRolyPoly · 29/08/2018 12:27

That do you?

Oh yeah, all those things are totally what feminism is about for me, right on, of course it is.

Feminism = don't be attention seeking, be super considerate of your family members all the time, don't pursue your own religious or spiritual interests, maintain a dutifully humble level of low self-esteem, right off all your life's obstacles , if they in some way relate to your sexuality, oh, and don't draw attention to yourself!!!

That's feminism is it? Sounds mightily like the patriarchy to me.

I'm not you mate, love.

How very predictable. Did you have to think long on that one?

Branleuse · 29/08/2018 12:24

at age 3 he started to cross dress??

Does that mean my dd was a cross dresser from birth as I kept her brothers babygros

RatRolyPoly · 29/08/2018 12:24

Yeah, I've had a bit of a moment lately TheCountry where I'm sick and tired of watching massive beatings on here and never rolling my sleeves up. It wasn't passive aggressive mind you, I thought it was pretty up front if I'm honest.

And I bring in their parents because being nice is not just something society wants women to be, it is something parents want their children to be. To reject it is to forget that actually society should want everyone to be nice, just like our parents do, because nice is not the problem. The patriarchy doesn't give us an excuse to go around being massive arseholes to people when it totally isn't justified.

LadybirdsAreBirds · 29/08/2018 12:22

Rat

I'm not you mate, love.

TinyRick · 29/08/2018 12:21

THAT is not their fault

Don't see them saying 'thanks but I can not accept it' ¯\(ツ)/¯

tiktok · 29/08/2018 12:21

No one is attacking anyone for being trans, ffs.

It’s the attention seeking.

It’s the lack of consideration for other family members.

It’s the ridiculous involvement of clairvoyance in diagnostics.

It’s the narcissistic self regard with no self awareness.

It’s the presentation of kink as heroics.

And did I mention the attention seeking?

That do you?

TheCountryGirl · 29/08/2018 12:20

Rat, your disgusting passive aggression in your last post was pretty nasty. Bringing in someone's parents?🤨 You seem to be the LAST person who should lecture anyone on being nice.
