"A young politician and transgender activist who is running for deputy leadership of the Green Party was fighting for her political life last night after it emerged that she had used her father as her election agent even though he faced charges of raping and torturing a 10-year-old girl."

Not really surprised she suffers from that.

TerfsUp · 26/08/2018 20:19

conversion disorder (which is essentially a sort of Munchausens of yourself as I understand it

This condition used to be known as hysteria. It happens when the person develops physical symptoms that are psychological in origin.

LadybirdsAreBirds · 26/08/2018 20:19

That is the saddest thing to read. She didn't have a chance

lowtide · 26/08/2018 20:16

The more I read the sadder I feel.
Aimee just wasn’t able to make proper decisions. She doesn’t deserve vitriol.

The Green Party really should have looked after her better and been able to stop this happening and offer her some help.

I really cannot believe the Green Party in all of this. Aimee is being vilified when it’s hifhly likely she is a victim

birdbandit · 26/08/2018 20:08

WTF?!?!

This is worse than I thought. What's the script regarding taking an advert out in The Times or something? Could we crowdfund?

How can we get this out, make this public?

If the usual channels aren't working?

CaitlynsCat · 26/08/2018 20:07

Tina Challenor had numerous health problems as of 2010 including physical pain, various mental health conditions including conversion disorder (which is essentially a sort of Munchausens of yourself as I understand it).

It was noted that her complex physical mental problems suggested she could not effectively parent her children, and that the exposure of her children to her mental health issues could affect them negatively in copying her behaviour.

There was not much wrong with David, however 'anger problems' are noted.

SirVixofVixHall · 26/08/2018 20:03

Beyond, she only had three children with David. Her other three children are/were not his.

Don't hold your breath. Several of us have had the same stock reply

Thanks to the poster who put the BBC complaint link. I've been reading the posts on here with a growing sense of disbelief. I've now complained to the bbc asking why this wasn't considered newsworthy.

GoldenWonderwall · 26/08/2018 20:00

Thank you for bringing this out and to people’s attention. I’d really hoped the worst case scenarios regarding this topic would never happen, this never happens Sad

Flowers for the brave and resolute victim and anyone affected by this situation.

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 26/08/2018 19:59

Oh no doubt Tina was abused - the seven children and twelve miscarriages alone point to her husband attempting to keep her barefoot and chained to the kitchen sink. And of course the FII could relate to anxiety around her husbands abusive behaviour...

But there still comes a point where we (general we) have to stop digging for a cause for each persons behaviour, or it'll go on for ever (perhaps DC was abused, perhaps DCs abuser was abused, etc etc etc)

lowtide · 26/08/2018 19:58

Jesus Christ if it’s what I think it is then her employing her father is 10000000 x worse than i initially thought

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 26/08/2018 19:57

It does not add up.

It most definitely does not! There is no way in hell TC was not made aware of the nature of the charges against her husband given that she had children living in the house and he would be returning to the house. SS will have been all over them. Even without their history prior to the charges.

OrchidInTheSun · 26/08/2018 19:56

Court said both her and D.C. had health issues but no LDs.

TerfsUp · 26/08/2018 19:55

Tina is not an innocent victim.

I agree.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/08/2018 19:55

I dont understand. A man is arrested/questioned about very serious sexual offenses three years ago and a horror attic is found in his small home. Three children, assuming they are no longer in care, live there, the eldest AC is about 17. The man is on bail? Allowed to remain in the family home?

I'm wondering if the police wanted to see if anything else would turn up?

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 26/08/2018 19:55

Good point, I hadn't thought about the conditions for bail - surely there is no way that everyone in the household could remain unaware of the crime then?

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 26/08/2018 19:54

Is it known whether TC has LDs or SENs?

LadybirdsAreBirds · 26/08/2018 19:53

'she appears to have encouraged the children to believe they were ill when they were not'

That's interesting CaitlynsCat

I can't say what I want to because I'll probably be deleted for speculation, but the level of mental stress and psychological dysfunction in that family was off-the-scale

OrchidInTheSun · 26/08/2018 19:53

I don't know where his shit ended and hers began but Tina is not an innocent victim. She was also prosecuted for animal abuse (and received the same sentence as David). The reason Aimee was on the CP register from birth was because her older children had been taken into care.

She is very damaged clearly but she cannot be exonerated just because she is a woman.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 26/08/2018 19:52

Tina may have been groomed. It's still extraordinarily distasteful to equate her situation to that of Jews in the holocaust!

Needmoresleep · 26/08/2018 19:52

I dont understand. A man is arrested/questioned about very serious sexual offenses three years ago and a horror attic is found in his small home. Three children, assuming they are no longer in care, live there, the eldest AC is about 17. The man is on bail? Allowed to remain in the family home? Note the victim would have been a couple of years younger than AC so presumably around the age of one of the siblings.

Surely at that point some conditions were imposed. No contact with non-family minors, particularly in that house, perhaps. Conditions that the wife and chikdren would have to be aware of. (Dont bring friends home, etc.) And surely SS would want to gently question the children to be certain that they had not suffered similar abuse. Or fight hard through family courts to ensure the children were not returned from care.

It does not add up.

Haworthia · 26/08/2018 19:52

Tina Challenor also made (public, on the internet) posts about the care homes her child/ren were in, as recently as 2014, and appears to have acted to manipulate her child/ren against the care system.

I did read last night (can’t remember where now) that the Chanellors had run a successful Facebook campaign to get their children returned to them from the care system. I guess it’s related to that?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/08/2018 19:46

Caitlyn I don't think you are being fair. Tina comes across as a very vulnerable adults who was groomed by David Challenor.
