WombOfOnesOwn

This issue has really cemented the fact that no political party believes that women are full human beings with as much right to autonomy and self-direction as any man.

Copied from the AIBU thread.

I seems to me the BBC also view us as above and I think we should start a campaign about this issue above.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3340870-To-think-that-this-massive-women-s-rights-issue-is-going-under-the-radar-As-it-s-being-hidden-from-them?msgid=80387719#80387719

How can we persuade the BBC to balance the bias against females so far?

They have given a propoghanda Question time to Paris Less, and I would like to see the same now given to us just as they did Paris. To have Julia Long, Julia Hartley Brewer, Nick Robinson on the panel to name a few.

The Green Party

has seen an upsurge in new members and is high-fiving it's rise in the polls.

Gender Critical Greens, like me, have left. There was a Green Women's Group (open to all) and a Woman by Name group (which does what it says on the tin - self identify as a woman and you're in).

Because members make policy, it is very easy for an interest group to join and push their hobby horse agenda. And the Trans Lobby did this so effectively that women fled.

  • A party that invented Turve - Blocker (sic) and the term non-men.
  • A party that promotes women's rights so long as they are the right to prostitute other women.
  • A party that thinks its OK to put thugs and sex offenders in women's prisons.

Not only will I not vote for the cowards that lead the party, but I will actively oppose them.

I don't see Women's Rights as a left-right thing. It affects everyone, whatever their political leanings. The issues touch every man, woman and child.

The Conservatives may be the first to blink, but Labour and the Greens have a lot more baggage and Gender Extremists in their midst and will find it harder. They really are all the same.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 21/08/2018 15:16

The Conservatives may not care about Women's Rights but they care about polls and popularity and voting intentions.

Yes. I wonder what the outcome of the consultation will be? Even if the majority of those responding are in favour of self id, the majority of the public aren't. But that opens them up to criticism and bad publicity whatever they do - implement self id and women's group start protesting, don't and have LGBT groups protesting.

I suspect it's going to be kicked into the long grass with no clear decision, meanwhile tra will continue to pressure women and girls groups to centre them, like they are doing with the girls in GG.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 21/08/2018 15:10

You know what I would vote for them. I’d have to go home and scrub my hands. And then once I knew people knew I am an actual woman again worry myself silly about the entire rest of everything they might do.

BraveAndStunning · 21/08/2018 15:02

Well yes Pam, and invited people like Jess Bradley to parliament so that he could tell them what to write.

theOtherPamAyres · 21/08/2018 14:46

The Conservative Party

According to writers in places like Conservative Home (small 'c' rather than capital C) the PM was told that it would be uncontroversial and on the 'right side of history' to offer concessions to transexuals with gender dysphoria.

And then Mumsnet happened
And the Gender Extremists emerged
And there were articles about the unintended consequences
And ordinary women were making appointments to see their MPs

Now, they are having second thoughts about being on the
#wrongsideofbiology

The Conservatives may not care about Women's Rights but they care about polls and popularity and voting intentions.

That's why their Trans Bus may take the next exit off the motorway.

It does not exonerate them from putting women's rights at great risk by their refusals to listen or engage when they thought they could get away with it.

"Admittedly it's probably because he thinks women belong in the kitchen than for any more forward thinking reason, but on this issue I'll take any rejection of self ID and worry about the details later."

Had to laugh, but yes, I agree. I would vote Tory now if they sorted this out. Never have done before. Will struggle to vote for Labour against, after the rank betrayal of women, the Madigan debacle etc.

I draw the line at UKIP.

What a sick irony that 100 years after getting the vote, many women are being disenfranchised because they refuse to be the proverbial turkeys voting for Christmas, but are being thrown into the fire pit by women who choose to self baste in male approval before jumping in

DeniedReality · 21/08/2018 14:30

Corbyn is not the type to examine an issue more than once. Once the mind is made up there is no going back.

Momentum and the unions have had a hard time trying to get Corbyn to accept changes to labour policy on anti-semitic rules.

Total Tyrant.

theOtherPamAyres · 21/08/2018 14:26

I wouldn't write off Labour either

The Labour Party is going to struggle.

  • the witch-hunts of Radical feminists
  • the reaction to the resignation of 300 woman
  • the ally, Jess Phillips, writing a forward to Stonewall's Report on the need to open up womens' refuges to transfemme men
  • Owen Jones' prominent Gender Extremist views
  • the photo of Jeremy Corbyn getting a cuddle from "Women's Officer" Lil Madigan, and declaring that TWAW.

I'm not sure that Labour can put their Trans bus into reverse before the GRA and Equality Act consultation.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 21/08/2018 14:25

Wander - I'm in Scotland. Labour are gubbed here. It's absolutely astonishing.

I often wonder what would have happened if Farage had died in that plane crash...clearly, I'm glad he didn't for his family's sake, but, the UK and Europe would be in a very different situation if he'd flown that Cessna into the ground a bit harder.

TeaForDad · 21/08/2018 14:13

UKIP

TiredPony · 21/08/2018 14:12

*we already know hereditary peerages don't count women as men

Surely this is such a key point? If they don't count in one area then they can't count in others. They can't agree they are men except in xyz situation. So TMAM isn't true therefore TWAW can't be.

Wanderabout · 21/08/2018 14:07

Wow denied that is clearly insane when written out like that!

DeniedReality · 21/08/2018 14:05

I don't want to support the left at present, the ideology is currently to persuade people to accept:

Polygamy
Selling the body for the use of males - surrogates and sex
Removal of mother and family
Males as women
Indecent and uncomfortable clothing for women whilst males are covered and comfortable
Reduced child and female safeguarding

I can't vote Tory either.

Mytholmroyd · 21/08/2018 14:05

Where do I go to vote? Why do none of the parties want me and my people in their ranks?

It'd be funny if it wasn't real.

Yes this Sad i feel constantly bewildered

Wanderabout · 21/08/2018 14:04

Every single one of the main parties subscribes to the view that Transfemme men are women.

Penny Mordaunt and some confused comments from a misled PM are not the Conservative party. No one will make future PM claiming someone with a penis is a woman and the Great British public should suck it up and let them in their daughter's changing rooms.

I wouldn't write off Labour either.

Greens, WEP and Lib Dems are irrelevancies anyway.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 21/08/2018 13:57

I have always been a liberal bleeding heart.

I'd vote Tory if they said "women are adult human females" and protected my sex class in the way the law says we must be protected.

It makes me feel dirty - but, I'd do it.

Can't vote Labour any more - they are mad and not even an effective opposition. Lib Dems are too busy being woke to see any sense and the Greens think I am a Non-Man.

Where do I go to vote? Why do none of the parties want me and my people in their ranks?

It'd be funny if it wasn't real.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 21/08/2018 13:52

I could never think of myself as right wing. And have no intention of going that way. Ever. I do however think that in terms of the rules of engagement that’s the only space left where we might get heard at the moment. And it’s really annoying me. I feel betrayed.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 21/08/2018 13:51

I don't think it's anything to do with being right or left wing. What many women are facing is having to say no, to put themselves first and to tell a group of people that we are not going to make ourselves vulnerable for their benefit.

Those who expect women to work for other people's rights see this as selfish and therefore right wing. But really they just don't understand what feminism is.

DeniedReality · 21/08/2018 13:34

There is a saying that people become more right-wing as they age. Some go so far left they end up on the far right and some go central.

I was left-wing also.

I have come to the conclusion that right-wing/left-wing doesn't suite me.

I am a Christian feminist.

The left don't like Christians and free thought or speech.
Neither like feminists or women.
The right are selfish lovers of money.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 21/08/2018 13:27

For the first time in my life I feel like I have unwittingly become right wing. It’s the first time I’ve felt a shift happen after the fact, I thought I knew what was what and where my political views would always be. I’ve always been a red. I even thought I could run along with Corbyn! But not now. It worries is me for so many reasons. One of the worst being the fact that we are being shut down at very turn. At this point I just want someone in the establishment with some clout to stand up for us and allow a platform for reasonable discussion. Someone needs to say self id may not be the safest way forward for the following reasons. Without being abused.

ShotsFired · 21/08/2018 13:00

My dyed in the wool longstanding Tory MP is definitely against it.

Admittedly it's probably because he thinks women belong in the kitchen than for any more forward thinking reason, but on this issue I'll take any rejection of self ID and worry about the details later.

SPOFS · 21/08/2018 12:54

I think UKIP are the only party that don't support self-Id. Sad

The thing is, I'm sure that +90% of Tories would be against it too, if they were asked. I'm sure that the Tories will be the first to swing back on this.

YesSirCowBoy · 21/08/2018 12:52

We know Dawn Butler was given lots of carrot - some awards and holidays. How did Maria Miller become such a TRA?

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 21/08/2018 12:50

Every single one of the main parties subscribes to the view that Transfemme men are women

It really is unprecedented for such an oppressed class of people to have so much political influence.

They really are trail-blazers. Unless the bandwidth of 'oppressed' has expanded too.

ShotsFired · 21/08/2018 12:40

Have we seen similarly confirmed positions on whether transmasculine women are men to the same unequivocal degree?

(we already know hereditary peerages don't count women as men, but logic follows that is TWAW, then TMAM?)
