So pleased this penis-holder felt "liberated".

Would be interesting to see what Curves policy is on this, seeing as they market themselves as female only and I know my local one there is a Muslim woman who exercised uncovered but dons be a full niqab to go home.

thebewilderness · 20/08/2018 19:21

If it is Autumn Sandeen this is basically their MO. Has been for years.

Charliethefeminist · 20/08/2018 19:18

One guy. One incident. Dozens of women in the room, victims of indecent exposure and voyeurusm. One man, dozens of victims.

thebewilderness · 20/08/2018 19:16

For some men the ability to force women to participate in their fetishes against their will simply by identifying as transgender is the ultimate male dominance display.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 20/08/2018 19:01

Male transpeople have been convicted for the sexual assault and rape of girls and women.

Why are we been told that this doesn't matter?

dontbringmedown · 20/08/2018 18:53

Excellent email.

dontbringmedown · 20/08/2018 18:52

This is the email I sent to Any Answers a few weeks ago when the subject came up. I was pleased they read it out
Last week I visited the gym. I showered and changed in the women's changing room, an open space with benches and hooks for clothes, but no cubicles. Showers have flimsy curtains.
In the changing room with me were two girls aged 12-13. There was no one else. I am a 65 year old woman, but with gender self ID I could have been a predatory fully male bodied man - no surgery or hormone treatment - simply claiming to be a woman in order to access women's spaces. It is known that these predatory men enter professions that give them access to vulnerable people, so why shouldn't we believe that such a man would use gender self-ID to do this?

I have granddaughters and I am concerned for their safety if proposed changes to the GRA are implemented. I have sympathy for those individuals suffering from gender dysphoria and feel they should be given appropriate medical help, but their rights should not be prioritised over those of women and girls.

Well done Borntobequiet

ErrolTheDragon · 20/08/2018 18:44

- Documented penis incidents in changing rooms in the UK in last ten years - none

I should think not - we don't actually have 'self id' yet.

- Reported sexual assaults in the UK for the year ending March 2017 (121,187). Actual offending around 5 times higher.

So try to estimate how many women and girls that amounts to over the years, and that a proportion of them will remain seriously traumatised and not want any male body, clothed or not, in a space where they're getting their kit off.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 20/08/2018 18:34

This is also hardly a daily occurrence.

So?

Charliethefeminist · 20/08/2018 18:33

You can't report these incidents, it's illegal and a hate crime under self Id.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 20/08/2018 18:33

But the thing is that neither the GRA or the EA provide a defence to the offence of exposure.

And that's why males shouldn't be in women's spaces.

SarahAr · 20/08/2018 18:31

Just because someone posted it, it doesn’t mean it actually happened. I’m cynical.

I agree. Reddit is full of fantasists and men writing out their sexual fantasies for their own and other people's gratification.

I agree as well.

But the thing is that neither the GRA or the EA provide a defence to the offence of exposure. Any trans women who deliberately exposes her penis in the changing room is likely to be committing the offence of exposure.

This is also hardly a daily occurrence. There is one documented incident that occurred in the California. In the 10 years that protection for trans people against discrimination in goods and services has been on the statute book in the UK, there have been no documented incidents.

There will be an incident in the UK eventually - because idiots.

But to put it in to perspective.

  • Documented penis incidents in changing rooms in the UK in last ten years - none
  • Reported sexual assaults in the UK for the year ending March 2017 (121,187). Actual offending around 5 times higher.
NotMeOhNo · 20/08/2018 18:30

Perhaps that Reddit thread could be printed out and put up behind toilet doors in women's changing rooms all over the UK.
I think even Sarah Ar once said that a transwoman doing this should be arrested.

Fekko

Cripes, stupid woman!

I have been procrastinating about asking gym policy on this for some time. Mine is a Nuffield Health gym, so presumably they would have to change their policies for their health facilities/hospitals etc too. There are loads of women at my gym, in fact it's pretty female heavy. Lots of older ladies too, who would not likely be open to such things. There are also a lot of children who come in for lessons and their mothers take them into the female changing room, which is open plan. There is a small family/disabled room, which is mainly used by fathers taking their children swimming.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 20/08/2018 18:01

You get all sorts... My gast is never fully flabbered.

Ereshkigal · 20/08/2018 18:01

Perhaps we should ask all the major gyms what their policy is on this? I wouldn't want to encounter this in my gym.

I think that's a good idea.

Ereshkigal · 20/08/2018 18:00

They not have a sign telling people not to Skype in therw (as if anyone with a brain would need reminding).

Wow Shock

AsAProfessionalFekko · 20/08/2018 17:35

I once marched up to reception as there was a stupid woman in the changing room skyping a man in the woman's changing room. Just chatting crap, no national emergency.

She had a bloody huge phone too and he was peering around the room (luckily it was just me - unluckily for him!). I have no idea if he identified as Dave from Dagenham or Claire from Cleethorpes.

Either way, I didn't want to see his beardy face following me around the changing room.

They not have a sign telling people not to Skype in therw (as if anyone with a brain would need reminding).

AsAProfessionalFekko · 20/08/2018 17:14

So the poster would look like a 6"4 man with all his bits - in a womans changing room. I can only imagine from their rather egocentric post that it wasn't a quick change but a full flaunt (then another one in case anyone missed it). We can only be thankful there weren't any selfie taken.

Can they not ask his mum or a sister what they really think about a male bodied person who does that? Any woman who complained would probably be booted out.

LangCleg · 20/08/2018 17:06

clam up and avoid doing anything beyond my business

Er... what, exactly, does this person have ambitions to do beyond their business in a public restroom? It's a fucking toilet, not a fantasy validation booth.

WaddIelikeapenguin · 20/08/2018 17:01

By my count I is used 24 times in that post Hmm

Ereshkigal · 20/08/2018 16:59

Been transitioning for three years and I gotta say....

Wish I could feel this comfortable in public restrooms... like... I enter the restroom and avoid all eye contact (and by the way, VERY tall trans woman, 6'4", likely not many are going to be like "she's cis-female"), I don't look down, I stay silent, I don't wear any makeup so I don't have to check it in the mirror, I don't check my bra in the mirror, nothing... and I live in a fairly liberal area (LV), where it isn't that big of a deal... I just don't want to be seen like a monster and it kills me...

Like normally, totally talkative, my friend and I chat, even when we're on the toilet, I normally am not "shy" about being female, but public restrooms... I clam up and avoid doing anything beyond my business and it just feels so... oppressive, less so in those "occupied" bathrooms, like at a gas station, but it is a thing no matter where I go...

Yes, having 6'4" males in women's spaces and not being able to object isn't at all oppressive for women. They're all so fucking selfish and self-absorbed.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 20/08/2018 16:51

Sorry but I'm a bit thick. If a man has a man's body - how has he transitioned to anything?

Standing naked I'm not sure I could tell which male bodied person thinks he is a man and which thinks he is a female.

I'd have to snap both offending members with a wet towel as a womens changing room really isn't the place for a willy.

Are we supposed to ask now - are you a flasher/very naughty boy/very short sighted and lost, or do you 'feel like a woman' (in the words of Shania Twain) before we scream and call security?

ShotsFired · 20/08/2018 16:46

Yes they actually seriously do @TheCountryGirl

That is the problem we're trying to stop.
