Sexual exploitation of young girls in Huddersfield - again?

Just seen this story. Is this one of the three linked trials that are ongoing or is it an entirely new investigation that’s now coming to court?

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6062349/Thirty-men-woman-charged-sexual-exploitation-girls-young-12.html

I suspect we will see the usual rhetoric about working class girls being worth nothing in the eyes of the law.

I agree that many far right activists have a racist political agenda. But that's not the issue. The problem occurs when they are the only people to say anything at all.

KreigersClones · 16/08/2018 10:52

Saying the right thing for the wrong reason, or for the wrong agenda, is NOT a crime!

KreigersClones · 16/08/2018 10:51

Nick griffin WAS taken to court for ‘inciting racial hatred’ for saying exactly that.

Hoppinggreen · 16/08/2018 10:46

Nobody has been taken to court for saying it’s Asian men mostly doing this. People have been charged with contempt of court for not obeying a judges instructions
I completely support freedom of speech for all ( even vile racists) but I don’t buy into the “they are standing up for these girls “ bollocks
They have a racist political agenda and I doubt they give a shit how many girls are being abused. They don’t seem concerned about white paedophiles.
I am not afraid being accused of racism for telling the truth, see my earlier posts but I will not applaud evil men just because they happen to agree with most decent people on ONE issue

Ereshkigal · 16/08/2018 10:17

I agree. Free speech isn't just for the people one agrees with.

KreigersClones · 16/08/2018 10:14

As for applauding the likes of Nick Griffin or Tommy Robinson - just no!
What do you mean ‘just no’
I mean, I don’t think anyone’s ‘applauding them’, just pointing out it’s disgusting for them to be taken for court for saying these Asian grooming gangs are targeting whites girls, they are!
That’s not a crime, regardless of how much you dislike them or what they stand for. It’s very, very dangerous ground to try and start censoring people in that way. It might suit you while it’s people you disagree with, but set that precedent in motion, and it could be you in prison next for saying things against the ‘status quo’.
Big brother is watching, we should NOT accept it!

Ereshkigal · 16/08/2018 10:10

It's the fault of the left that in a bid to be liberal we allow the right to lead on these matters. Whether it's opposing grooming gangs and Sharia courts, transgenderism or paedophiles more generally. It's not always good to be kind and accepting when it comes to things that are bad.

I agree. And it was a factor in Rotherham and Rochdale. The independent report into Rotherham council found that there was a culture of turning a blind eye partially because of the culture/race/ethnicity issues. It's not a right wing myth.

Hoppinggreen · 16/08/2018 10:02

I listened to a interview with the woman who exposed the issue in Rotherham.
She didn’t believe that the lack of police action was due to the men’s ethnicity, plenty of Asian men are arrested every day in Huddersfield. If you read the local papers court reports around 70% of the names seem to be of Pakistani origin ( mostly traffic offences)
She thought it was more about the girls themselves being seen as “trouble” and worthless as they were from difficult backgrounds
If the Police tried to remove a girl they would get told to F off by the girls and told they were there by choice so the only option was to physically remove them but then they would usually go back anyway so we’re viewed as complicit and not worth “saving”
I also think it’s important to distinguish between religion and culture
There is nothing in Islam that allows or encourages this sort of behaviour (despite the islamsphobes reference to one instance of Mohammed having a young wife in The Quran, which is open to interpretation anyway). It’s cultural, as someone else pointed out most of these men were brought here from villages in rural Pakistan to marry a British born girls and they have a very negative view of British culture and especially young girls. It’s deeply ingrained that women are possessions or resources to be used at will and they have the opportunities to do just that here.
As for applauding the likes of Nick Griffin or Tommy Robinson - just no!

ASliceOfArcticRoll · 16/08/2018 08:53

Having said that at least there are a spate of trials now.

ASliceOfArcticRoll · 16/08/2018 08:52

Yes and while people in authority have been doing contortions "exploring the wider issues" crimes have been ignored.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 16/08/2018 08:41

I live near Dewsbury. What goes on here is far worse than you can imagine. I could take you right now to the car park where girls are exchanged. Everyone knows.

I live in Huddersfield too, but I didn't know, nor did anyone I know!
We were all oblivious.
I guess it depends on the area or circles you socialise in.

therealposieparker · 16/08/2018 08:14

As "holding ones nose awful" as this is the people shouting loudest about PIE in the 80s (?) were the National Front. It's the fault of the left that in a bid to be liberal we allow the right to lead on these matters. Whether it's opposing grooming gangs and Sharia courts, transgenderism or paedophiles more generally. It's not always good to be kind and accepting when it comes to things that are bad.

Bowlofbabelfish · 16/08/2018 06:36

PP above who mentioned that men in groups who feel untouchable for whatever reason is spot on. That’s happened throughout history - look at the ampleforth scandal that has been going on for decades. In that case it was white priests made untouchable by a church hierarchy that didn’t intervene. If we can investigate that with clear open eyes we have to investigate this. Nobody is saying ALL catholics or ALL Pakistani men are doing this. What they need to say, unflinchingly, is that in these cases group structures were used to commit/cover up crimes.

In these cases, there is an ethnic element and we can’t ignore that because it’s been the background on which the crimes have happened AND on which people were reluctant to investigate for fear of seeming racist.

Child abuse is a plague upon society. It needs to be rigorously investigated and prosecuted wherever it’s found.

SPOFS indeed

Effic · 16/08/2018 03:27

Yikes - so many typos
*sang = should
Eve = even
Drop - drap

Effic · 16/08/2018 03:25

The other elephant in the room here that sang be mentioned us the children act and the lack of authority that workers and the law have in actually being able to remove girls from this. I have a little (not much) experience in this area and what it comes down to is .... you can’t imprision teenagers eve if they are only 12/13. It’s generally ‘vulnerable’ girls with poor family relationships, from poorer backgrounds and / or in care or on child protection plans from inadequate parenting. By the time professionals are involved, the girls are already hooked either in drugs/alcohol or on the ‘glamour’ of having a rich boyfriend. That’s very hard to to fight when you have both hands tied behind your back - parents can’t physically restrain the girls from leaving the house; social workers and the police can’t lock away and it’s very difficult to prosecute the men when their victims will swear that nothing has happened. It’s bloody hard. Early education is the key I think - getting this message into school at a very early age and continually reinforcing it but it’s somewhat thwarted by the constant reinforcement from music/film/TV/celebrity that the only interesting women are those who dress in next to nothing and drop themselves across men. That’s what we are teaching girls to aspire to so no wonder it gets twisted by these men.

OlennasWimple · 16/08/2018 03:06

In Rotherham, at least two councillors and at least one police officer are believed to have raped girls involved in the gang abuse - there's three reasons why no-one did anything Sad

OlennasWimple · 16/08/2018 03:03

Flowers to anyone affected by this

How the fuck can you blame Islam when sex outside marriage is forbidden?

Because it doesn't "count" when it's sex with a white, non-Muslim girl

SPOFS · 16/08/2018 02:46

Why are Nick Griffin and Tommy Robinson the only high-profile people speaking out against this?

I am appalled by this, but I don't want either of these pricks as my spokesman!

Incidentally, isn't it odd that all of the areas with grooming gangs are Labour strongholds? #labourlosingwomen

Metaplasia · 16/08/2018 01:45

I haven't read all of the PPs but thought I'd come on to say I'm from Huddersfield and know several of the men named. It is rife. Many of my friends and I were "passed around" so to speak as 13/14/15 year olds. I'm alright luckily but several of my friends were very badly affected by it emotionally.

TheQueef · 16/08/2018 01:17

Shurrup deleting that, really?

Leaving the Roma comment up though?

Gildashairflick · 16/08/2018 00:50

@frogface69 we are in the same area. Can you pm me re your known locations please? I can help get resources there

Gildashairflick · 16/08/2018 00:48

@powershowerforanhour yes! The media language serves to reinforce the salacious nature of the language. It's like fucking kiddie porn - it gives it a degree of validity. It boils my piss!

KreigersClones · 16/08/2018 00:48

Although I disagree that they’d be ‘less’ handwringing of it were white men doing it - look at how the protected the ‘paedo-presenters of the BBC - but only if it were to white working class girls.
If white men were particularly targeting minority girls to the extent that happens in these towns, then I do genuinely think it would be a different story - but not because they give a shit about the girls though, but so that they can get their right- on points

KreigersClones · 16/08/2018 00:41

They literally took nick griffin to court for saying that Asian gangs were grooming white girls. That’s scary shit.
If only they took the groomers to court so quickly.
As a pp said, a stopped clock is right twice a day, I don’t agree with nick griffin about most things, but I agreed with this and found it disgusting they tried to have him prosecuted. Why? What’s their agenda?
