Fucking horrific. And thank you to the Metro for publishing this act of sexual assault and animal cruelty under the "weird sex" section.

Honestly, what the fuck is wrong with men. How do 8 men find each other that would willing rape a pregnant goat to death? If there aren't loads of disgusting men out there how do gang rapes happen? coincidence that ab inch of disgusting bastards were together?

My only hope for the future is that humankind makes itself extinct. I have a rather dim view of us as a species anyway, but the increase in casual cruelty, to each other and to all other living creatures and life forces, is breathtaking. We're so casual about it all. This has always been the case, it's not a new thing. Lets face it, entertainment in Henry VIII's time was dogs set against bulls, or bears, or cock fights. We pay fortunes to watch boxers punch the crap out of each other, in the name of "sport". People dress up in red jackets and take their dogs on a nice horsey ride so they can tear a living fox to shreds.

We're a cruel species. We kill for entertainment. We hurt for entertainment. We amuse ourselves with blood, and gore, and other's pain. I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the galaxy and beyond is that none of it has tried to contact us.

riiiiight, Carol Adam's book The Sexual Politics of Meat, draws a very explicit link between meat-eating and the treatment of women. It's a few decades old now, but worth a read. PETA makes the same connection, but in, what I think is an exploitative fashion, with its naked women protests.

This story leaves a heavy wright on my heart. The poor animal dying in pain and terror.

The point made above that it wasn't 8 "bad" men, who planned to get together and do something despicable, but 8 ordinary men willing to do something so horrible because of peer pressure or excitement or whatever, is important, if deeply disturbing.

It's not just those 8 men. Chances are there were other men around who saw but didn't participate, or intervene.

If there were 8 men in a community willing to do something so awful, there were probably many others who might have been willing or persuaded had they been there.

It goes to the heart of why women are so afraid of men; you can't tell by looking who's a good guy and who has a moral compass so cracked they'd rather hurt you than stand up to their peers.

Because when they do stand up to their peers they are not hailed as heroes but excoriated as traitors. Look at the My Lai massacre or the murder of the Janabi family and the rape and murder of their 14 year old daughter in Iraq.

Yes. It is scary. I don't know if any of you know what I mean, but on occasion I have noticed a man's eyes become sort of fixed, cold and predatory when they have seen me- always in contexts where I have been wandering off the beaten path where no one could hear me scream. They looked at me like i am their providence - like some sort of easy prey to save effort of hunting. Sometimes the look would soften and they'd smile and say something kindly and move on, but for that split second I could see their animal nature. Other times I would say something direct and confident to humanise myself then walk steadily on rather than running so as not to trigger them into chasing me.
I no longer wander off the beaten path by myself any more BTW.

But you see it in that split second. I reckon sometimes a group of men get the same predator impulse with an 'are you thinking what i'm thinking?' understanding frisson running between them which spurs them to act more forcefully than if they were acting alone, much to the suffering of women, children, goats and so on.

TheCountryGirl · 08/08/2018 13:34

Yes, war time, of course! The Red Army was notorious for this.

riiiiight · 08/08/2018 13:20

I think if all rules, both written and unwritten, that uphold society were to break down, millions upon millions of men would be absolutely barbaric.

As another pointed out, it already happens in war. I do wonder why women go along with "prepping". If the shit hits the fan I am not sticking around for the aftermath.

Vickyyyy · 08/08/2018 13:18

This is fucking disgusting. As is the need to cry 'women do it too' and namalt' tbh.

TheCountryGirl · 08/08/2018 13:16

The Jodie Foster film The Accused springs to mind. Although in that one at least ONE man had a conscience and refused to take part. Men all egging each other on while they commit sadistic acts like it's all one huge laugh....they're repellant! 🤬🤬

LaSquirrel · 08/08/2018 13:12

You realise that it would be a very large coincidence that a very small minority of men just happened to end up on the same football team. Or in the same village outside the goat farmers house.

Indeed yes. The 'just a few bad men' claim does not ring true, particularly with so many pack rapes. There are more bad ones out there than most women/people want to contemplate.

I think if all rules, both written and unwritten, that uphold society were to break down, millions upon millions of men would be absolutely barbaric.

War time. Rapefest. All sides raping the women and children of all sides.

RideOn · 08/08/2018 13:09

Agree OP I often think, how did 8 men meet who were all willing to rape a pregnant goat to death? Did they meet to discuss/plan it? Several of them doing it so they all wanted to have a go?? Society around them giving them the ok/can do what they want??

It does make me wonder what people are capable of.

MoltenLasagne · 08/08/2018 13:01

Reading articles like this is like reading Lord of the Flies where you realise that it's only the rules of society that holds a large minority of men back from truly horrific acts.

riiiiight · 08/08/2018 11:43

I'm wondering how on earth anyone could suggest this never happened.

It's a nicer world to live in if you believe it though. I can only assume that's why they repeat it to themselves.

I'm not surprised by men doing terrible things, but when you get stories like this, or football teams gang-raping a woman. You realise that it would be a very large coincidence that a very small minority of men just happened to end up on the same football team. Or in the same village outside the goat farmers house.

That's when it gets scary. There are LOTS of men who are prepared to do truly horrible things.

Melanippe · 08/08/2018 11:38

I'm wondering how on earth anyone could suggest this never happened. A quick Google would have brought up a few hundred links to news stories of sexual abuse by men of animals all over the world. Or were they all made up as well?

As far back as the 1980s, I can remember horses being sexually assaulted, a friend's filly was left for dead after a group of men attacked her, I won't go into detail because the whole thing was harrowing.

I agree that journalists do embellish the truth at times, however, this story in particular rings far too true for it to have been 'made up'.

LaSquirrel · 08/08/2018 09:34

It may not be 'all men', but it sure is a significant minority of men.
They need to be taken out of the gene pool, and off the planet, quickly.
Their depravity knows no bounds.

UptonSnodbury you are a disgusting male apologist.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/08/2018 09:32

rebel

Absolutely!

Ive started picking up on it with family and friends

It needs to be named , if its people doing or saying it fair enough

But it rarely is

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 08/08/2018 09:31

riiiight

I agree...there was another 'rape reason' im expecting any minute now

TheCountryGirl · 08/08/2018 09:25

*I'm ashamed to be humans sometimes.

How do humans have the heart to do this???? I feel sick to my stomach every time I read these sht.

It's one half of the human race. The men half.

RebelRogue · 08/08/2018 09:24

@Rufustheyawningreindeer I did expect it given facebook had commenters frothing at the mouth about "misandry" and "sexism" when I refused to accept people and humans instead of men.

riiiiight · 08/08/2018 09:23

I thought that the excuses and reasoning behind some of the threads about rape, sexual assault and male violence were a bit ....well off, I can't think of another word Did not expect the same sort of thing in this sort of thread...at all

Well, at least no one asked what the goat was wearing. So there's that.

TheCountryGirl · 08/08/2018 08:35

Men always wave away stories of male violence as if it has nothing to do with them. They resort to the whole 'but women do it too...' with a few names like Myra Hindley and Rosemary West thrown in for good measure. 😴 They refuse to face up to the fact that a great deal of men are violent, revolting, twisted pieces of shit. They take it as a personal attack if you mention it. It's all so infuriating how cowardly they are.

AngryAttackKittens · 08/08/2018 08:31

Of course there's a linked Vice video that wants to spin the whole thing as being all "ooh, edgy".

riiiiight · 08/08/2018 08:28

These are from 2015 so I guess I am a bit behind the times there, but for the sake of argument I don't think three years ago means it is all ancient history.

AngryAttackKittens · 08/08/2018 08:24

Well, that first one was definitely not a headline I was expecting to read today.
