What ARE the "gender traits" of a woman?

Following on from comments in other posts, about what construes the "gender traits" of a woman....what the fuck are they?

If they're what I THINK they are....I don't have a single female friend who fits neatly into that space on the game board, not one. On the other hand, looking at "gender traits" of a man, I don't think I have any males in my life who slot in perfectly, either.

Does anyone fit it perfectly? Anyone REAL, I mean. Not some fictional character, I mean a real life living human being.

Agree NothingOnTelly it feels like a piss take. I've never understood the humour of drag artists or pantomime dames either to be honest. Feels like men having a laugh at women's expense to me. Maybe my sense of humour is not fully functioning though, I don't know.

This is what I tried to explain to my 15 year old son.
How can there be gender traits that mean you are either a woman or a man, when these traits arent universal?

Women in tribes in Brazil for example, probably do not meet any of those stereotypes, yet are all woman because their biology says so.

I have a mixture of "traits" from both the male and female lists provided and I don't "feel" like a woman OR a man, I just AM a woman.

My 15 year old insisted that that makes me none binary then.... "No son, i'm DEFINITELY a woman".

NothingOnTellyAgain · 02/08/2018 10:08

Can't link pics on phone.

I'm a little teapot

I find this almost more infuriating than anything else. They are so clearly acting out something in their imagination that is "this is what women are like" while casually ignoring what women are actually like. It's so extreme it feels like a poss take. This person was I believe on some kind of panel about GG "inclusion" (ie inclusion of dick) policy. Also think they have won a "women in business" award.

They have enormous power, wealth and imfluence.

They also go and cry in the ladies if someone accidentally calls them phil on a pips day -

This is a huge ask, to switch between 2 names daily and expect everyone to never muck it up. That's not how the human brain works. To expect people to see him as two different people and therefore never get the name wrong is ludicrous. It is setting people up to fail (maybe a good way to push out people at work PB doesn't like?)

NothingOnTellyAgain · 02/08/2018 09:56

Hotrocker-

I'd put my money on female, due to the height. While 5'3 is a well within average height for a woman, it's rare to see a grown man that short.

So if I we're betting- female.

The rest is entirely irrelevant to sex.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 02/08/2018 09:52

standing like "I'm a little teapot" is a massive universal gender trait, and is ably demonstrated by shop mannequins everywhere and also pips/ Phil bunce on a girl day.

My SIL loves all things pink, sparkly and frilly. Coos over small, fluffy animals. Always wears makeup and depilates ruthlessly. Buys too many handbags. Drinks too much prosecco and gin. Thinks a holiday at Disneyworld would be a dream come true. Never reads a newspaper.

I loathe pink, would run screaming from anything sparkly, and come out in hives in Per Una. I like cats but only within reason. I never wear skirts. I have too many books. I don't shave my legs. I don't drink. Threatening me with a 'spa day' or a 'girls' night out' would be grounds for divorce.

And yet both SIL and I are women. How can that possibly be? Hmm

Radiance???? Are they talking about the menopausal glow, perchance? Do excuse me, dear, I'm glowing.....

First thing that comes up on Google.

Radiance???
Uh
Well that's me buggered

What ARE the "gender traits" of a woman?
HotRocker · 02/08/2018 00:03

Well, the person I described was me, if you hadn’t already guessed. That’s what I look like, today, although I forgot my coiled snake ring on my middle finger. If you walked round the street looking for someone with that description you could be either looking for a woman, or a short bloke. If there was such things as female traits, you’d see them every day, but you don’t, because everyone is different. There can’t be a list of ways to be a woman, because there’s currently about 11 billion different ways to be a human.

WomanInBoots · 01/08/2018 23:08

Shit.

I think I'm a man.

Hmm

Actually... gender trait of woman = a naturally occurring cunt. How about that?

or just fuck that gender shit off altogether

sociopathsunited · 01/08/2018 23:07

thebewilderness · 01/08/2018 22:57

A lot of the identities that young girls have adopted seem to me to be ways for them to justify saying no to boys and men without being assaulted or demonized.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 01/08/2018 22:56

This is why I have my response of identifying as 'gender non-conforming' if anyone labels me cis.
Nobody can say otherwise.

HotRocker · 01/08/2018 22:52

A visual description of a person I know
About 5.3 tall
Black and white pumps
Black jeans
Grey T-shirt
Large tattoos covering both forearms
Black ring through septum, black stud on either side of bottom lip, Silver rings with black balls in each ear
Cropped hair, about number 3
Are they a man or a woman?

sociopathsunited · 01/08/2018 22:45

Exactly voice......we're women because we have female biology. It all comes down to science and biology in the end, doesn't it?

OP posts:
Voice0fReason · 01/08/2018 22:41

Gender non-conforming and non-binary make absolutely no sense.

Other than having a female body, is there anything that all women have in common? That would imply that having a female body is what defines a woman.

Lottapianos · 01/08/2018 22:17

Exactly Jilly, but most people just get on with being themselves, and don't have to bore on about being special and different all the time

That's funny PamAyres Grin

theOtherPamAyres · 01/08/2018 22:14

Non-Binary Traits

  • Grandiose ideas of being so special that they can't fit into any category
-Favourite song: Chesney Hawkes, I Am the One and Only
  • Would have been a Goth in previous decades, but that's not cool anymore (except for blue hair and nail varnish)
  • In a state of perpetual protest about this binary, that binary and the other binary (that's three)
  • while waitng for the man of his dreams to sweep him off his feet, his significant other is a lesbian
  • Cannot explain why he is in a relationship with a lesbian, despite the male pattern baldness, beard and willy. It's so much easier to distract people with the non-binary shite
  • Tend to grow up and ditch the category when they reach the age of 21 years or so, with exceptions (see above)
JillyArmeeen · 01/08/2018 21:37

This is why i don't get non binary as an identity. Surely everyone is non binary gender wise.

BlackForestCake · 01/08/2018 21:13

Even famous women who clearly spend an inordinate amount of time and money on conforming to society’s idea of how a woman should look are not truly gender conforming, for I don’t believe they also spend their time doing housework and wiping arses. In this sense nobody is really gender conforming because it is impossible for one person to conform to all the expectations and all the stereotypes.

BarrackerBarmer · 01/08/2018 20:39

If you ask genderists this question directly they clam up. However if you listen to what they say in their brave "I always knew I was a girl because... stories you have your answer.

PersephoneInTheGarden · 01/08/2018 20:32

thebewilderness yes, I agree - I suppose gender stereotypes apply to language/word usage too, so it can't really ever be correct.

thebewilderness · 01/08/2018 20:04

PersephoneInTheGarden

I took that test and am 80% male in my writing in spite of being an uneducated female mother of two. I concluded that it was not I but the algorithm that was incorrect.
