I'm just so bloody outraged

Walking into town with my baby in his pram today as I rounded the corner by my house a man in his twenties nearly ran into me, as he was riding his bike on the pavement this exchange ensued:

Me: you should ride in the road.

Him: I'm riding on the pavement.

Me: I believe the law states this is a footpath. You're an adult on a bike.. in future please ride on the road.

Him: I'm riding on the pavement

Me: (nothing Walks on)

Him: I like your bum

And I'm posting this because yes, 8 hours later I'm still pissed off, but also I thought in some ways I was immune with a pram. Since becoming a mum I've felt pleasantly invisible to the average street Neanderthal and I've enjoyed that. How fucking dare bike Neanderthal try to silence me by sexualising me.

Anyway. Outrage,

We remove children in this country when someone breaks the law, also it was Busy one who brought that law in and continues to this day but no one criticises Obama ...why?

pieceofpurplesky · 29/07/2018 13:43

I'm bloody outraged at the Trump administration removing children from their parents.
At someone giving a slightly pathetic, slightly sexual comeback after being put in his place ... not so much.

Lottapianos · 29/07/2018 13:35

The fact that he was cycling on the pavement means he's an utter muppet. The bum comment means he's a sexist muppet too. What a sad little specimen he is. See Studlee's comment for another example.

Here, have a 'biscuit'. I made it myself.

I'm just so bloody outraged

0/10

Studlee · 29/07/2018 13:18

You might have a nice bum? What's wrong with the compliment ? Get over yourself

TheCountryGirl · 28/07/2018 22:25

THAT counts!

TheCountryGirl · 28/07/2018 22:24

I honestly think men are devolving....is that the word? They're going backwards in intelligence. Maybe that's why we are seeing such a massive backlash against women right now...women are superior to men in almost every way they counts so men are using the one thing they have - their sheer strength - to push us back.

REOLay · 28/07/2018 22:19

Everyday sexism

LanguageAsAFlower · 28/07/2018 22:17

So grim. I'm trying to let it wash over me... but I'm so outraged that a man would think that's ok when I was with my baby. If I hadn't been so shocked I would have taken a photo of him. I think the other part of it is... I've worked with young people in this town for the best part of a decade so most of the under 25s that I bump into in the street know me and wouldn't dream of speaking to me like that. I guess in a way I just haven't been subject to this shit in so long. Urgh.

Carrie White had the right idea. (Apart from killing the lovely and female PE teacher.)

Bowlofbabelfish · 28/07/2018 22:12

Small things can be the things that really stick. Agree with duckula above - this was a power play.

Grim.

ReluctantCamper · 28/07/2018 22:05

easier said than done I know, but the best you can do now is try to just let it roll off you

i can still remember some of the more egregious abuse I've received from men in the street (middle aged and invisible now)

so try to do as I say, not as I do!

FermatsTheorem · 28/07/2018 22:03

I fantasise about a stick through the spokes and watching them sail over the handlebars.

One of these days I'm going to find the brass ovaries to say "doesn't your mum think you're old enough to ride on the road yet?"

C0untDucku1a · 28/07/2018 21:59

He said it to mAke you feel uneasy. Id hve been enraged too.

LanguageAsAFlower · 28/07/2018 21:58

Yes @UpstartCrow ninja stars!
Honestly I know it's small in comparison with some things but it just really drove home to me how vulnerable I am. Wish I'd kicked him off his stupid bike.

This is why I fantasise about carrying ninja stars a peashooter or catapult.
