Usually when you see hashtags about a diagnosis that doesn't stem from the medical establishment, you would be right to be dubious.
The anti-vaxxers are a good comparison.

Reluctantcamper you've nailed it

ReluctantCamper · 28/07/2018 08:40

an important point to me is that the ultimate conclusion of being trans is making fundamental changes to your body that will leave a child sterile, with impaired sexual function and a lifelong medical patient.

what responsible parent wouldn't work to get their child off that path if at all possible? Flowers for the parents who have posted on this thread.

if the gender expectations inflicted on children are causing them confusion and distress we should be changing the expectations, not children's bodies.

TWW1 You are telling it how it is and I know how much courage that takes ThanksThanks

I recognise everything you say about ROGD - the scripted words, the revision and dismantling of their past, the traumatic effect on siblings, the refusal to discuss, the secrecy, the stealth, the personality changes, the lies, the replacement of biological family with 'queer family'.

The mental and physical toll it takes on everyone is enormous.

R0wantrees · 28/07/2018 05:52

Threadreader version of Transgender Trend's twitter thread (linked previously) with some parents' descriptions and experiences:

"#ROGDWEEK2018 is a chance for parents' voices and testimonies to be heard. We will be adding parents' testimonies to this thread, feel free to add your own"

To the trans activists on here who think non affirming parents are abusive then listen to what others think of me.

No-one thinks that Tww1. Transactivists certainly don't think it.

The hyperbole is a strategy. It's all part and parcel with literal violence and any disagreement being called transphobic.

I know it's incredibly upsetting for you. And this is easy to say, but try not to take it seriously. It's done to goad.

You come across as a sensible, responsible loving parent who is concerned for their child's welfare.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 28/07/2018 01:38

Of course anime is a thing with the teen girls wanting to be trans. It's yaoi - I think I spelled it wrong but don't want to Google - even south park did an episode where the girls were all obsessed with gay anime characters.
You can see the appeal, softer/non threatening boys in a much more equal relationship - stark contrast with het porn. It's like the ultimate romantic fantasy to girls who want an alternative to pornsick objectification.
A lot of trans stories of teen girls start with some version of 'my online anime/art community included some older trans people who told me I was special'

A lot of us are mothers here. We were teen girls. We know grooming when we see it.

AngryAttackKittens · 28/07/2018 01:08

Icy seems a bit triggered, maybe he should go outside, have some ice cream, and cool off a bit.

thebewilderness · 28/07/2018 01:05

I do not think anyone here is stupid enough to read wikipedia for any reason related to research.
I reported your trolling of this thread, IcyNoll.

Maryzsnewaccount · 28/07/2018 00:51

Icy, you wouldn't fancy wandering off and starting your own thread would you.

I'm sure all this anime chat is very interesting to you, but it's really boring to most of us and nothing to do with the thread.

A cynical person might think that you were trying to derail to (a) stop us talking about important things (2) deliberately goad posters in an effort to get them banned and (3) cause a bunfight so the thread will be deleted.

"I've just done that search that icy is getting a bit overexcited by

And it came up exactly the same as datun no steakhouse to be seen

I didnt look at the website as ive no fucking interest in doing so

But that's absolutely what came up"

You mean DeviantArt? Already been posted about several times? The website that is "one of the biggest sites featuring original photography, digital art, traditional art, literature, and filmmaking, and also one of the world's largest repository of free-to-use stock imagery and photography.

Got it's name because "DeviantArt started as a site connected with people who took computer applications and modified them to their own tastes, or who "deviated" the applications from the original designs. As the site grew, members in general became known as "deviants" and submissions as "deviations""

Includes such devastating material found in the screenshots. Including a set of pearls to clutch should you find such material too 'racy'. Anything considered 'Mature' locked away behind a filter that can only be switched off by signing up for an account and specifically agreeing to seeing Mature-rated images. Any and all art-work depicting explicit acts of sex forbidden from the site and banned when found. Damning stuff, no doubt, apart from, you know, Twitter and Reddit hosting content more explicit than actually allowed on DeviantArt. If somebody posting to DeviantArt makes them verboten to the users here, I wonder what you think about all those fellow posters on this board who freely admit to using Twitter and Reddit.

"I didnt look at the website as ive no fucking interest in doing so"

Always nice to know there's somebody else on here honest enough to admit they won't engage in simple basic research like, say, reading wikipedia to find out what a site is. But hey, if baseless ad hominem attacks are all you got, perhaps that's why you avoid the research. All those pesky facts, getting in the way and all.

Thanks for your story. Siblings are also ggetef by this. This is why it is not just about the trans child

ABitCrapper · 27/07/2018 22:32

I have a late transitioning trans woman family member.
Heavily into anime porn.(just saying)
Has rewritten our shared history so they were "always trans". Denial of reality.
Due to the affirmation policy this family member no longer gets any help for their other MH problems and she believes they will all be cured by the next stage of transition. And then the next stage. Nope sorry after hormones. Nope sorry after bottom surgery. Ah no sorry it's due to a transphobic society. It's all your fault.

This was not rapid onset.

However I have school mum friends terrified by social contagion Trans at the local comp. I am terrified for my ASD daughter. She currently identified as a dragon - consistently, persistently etc. But it's only a matter of time before she's at that school, or on the internet etc

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 27/07/2018 22:19

Hi, can everyone henceforth please ignore icy? Its all getting rather tiresome.

Sorry hotrocker i hadnt got this far

Tww1 · 27/07/2018 22:14

That’s so true. That’s why parents need to keep this in mind. The key of the door might be 18 but not in terms of cognitive development. It is this cognitive development we need to push home.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 27/07/2018 22:12

FermatsTheorem · 27/07/2018 22:06

One thing that is genuinely well established in the scientific literature is the timetable of brain development from birth to adulthood - and it is well established that the last bit to mature, in the early to mid twenties, is the prefrontal cortex, the bit that deals with impulse control, weighing consequences of actions and making rational decisions.

A child announcing they want cross sex hormones at age fourteen is ten years too young, neurologically speaking, to be allowed to make that decision.

Tww1 · 27/07/2018 22:00

Sorry so bad at proof reading. I get so irked and then post. Need to calm down

Tww1 · 27/07/2018 21:58

You see the reason though. If it can be shown that external forces are manipulating our kids who by the way tend to have some other psychological issue or aspergers then it proves it is not born this way. If the transgender activist want us to believe it then they have to dismiss ROGD.

I wish our kids had the wariness to see this. They can’t because developmentally they haven’t got the critical skills. But hey ho catch them young. This is the next stage which is now happening. The story books pitched to our younger kids prove it. Once this is pervasive at all levels, how do our kids stand a chance.
Biology is redefining itself too the young generation will see this as the norm.
Bastards
Now I’m going out to have a drink and calm down.

archery2 · 27/07/2018 21:51

Apologies if someone already posted this further up (I haven't read the whole thing) but rapid onset is cited in the following article: 'Gender dysphoria in adolescence: current perspectives', which was published in 'Adolescent Health, Medicine and Therapeutics' (Dove Press), 2018:9, 31-41

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 27/07/2018 21:49

Thank you tww

Its very interesting that garam is allowed to roundly dismiss this 'new ROGD' thing

Tww1 · 27/07/2018 21:31

My response was to Rufus. I’m so slow at typing. Plus I’m doing it secretly.

Tww1 · 27/07/2018 21:28

Yes it is.
Transsexual as we knew it was very rare. It got careful screening hence the lack of regret.

Our kids are not being afforded the same screening. That’s why we are seeing more detransitioners.
That’s why ROGD needs screening too. Not just total affirmation during the tumultuous teen years. It’s so frustrating that parents are ignored. Yet parents who affirm are the good guys. Why can I not be the good guy? We all do what we think is right for our child. How am I abusive if I only have my child’s interest at heart. I know my child better than anyone but I am dismissed. Something wrong here.

As it is ROGD awareness week I am speaking out. This is not something I wish on anyone to go through. I may not help my child but I hope others will see what may be I front of them.
Keep a close eye on the internet and if your child is of high school age they will be influenced by this too. Pre warned is fore armed. I didn’t see this coming. If I could turn back time .......
