Haven't found this on another thread;paragraph in his Times comment:

'Ah yes - when reality intrudes. If you are really 'woke' and wish to advertise your insuperable virtue, you can buy a T- shirt from Amazon. On the front of it is written,in rainbow colours:'There are more than two genders.'Scroll down and you'll find that there is a choice of precisely two fittings - for men or women.
Meanwhile, the transgender lobby, still on its surreal march to deny reality,is insistent that men who transition to being women can suffer very badly from period pains.Despite not having a uterus. And those who deny their right to suffer period pains ,despite the fact that they cannot possibly have them, are bigots.
Strange times,strange allies

Ah yes. I forgot that the way we cut t-shirts and prescribe them to sexes is how we define gender. Silly me!

Lol.

NotBadConsidering · 23/07/2018 08:14

Well if 30 trans women have discussed, in an Internet forum, if symptoms are similar to periods, clearly that is a lot more authoritative than any actual women offering an opinion on what constitutes "period-like". Hmm

I didn't know we had a lobby
Here you are, a definition of 'lobby group'
a body formed to influence legislation on a particular issue.
"the grassroots campaigning of lobby groups for public education

Here's (just one) of the many lobbying activities that GIRES states they undertake - from their own website.

The crepeated delusional denials of the most basic of facts is .... interesting. Confused

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 23/07/2018 07:41

I hate sharing agreeing with an insufferable shit like RL (or JHB, Hopkins etc). It’s one of the reasons I have to keep going back and asking myself why I feel like this.

Monstamio · 23/07/2018 07:33

Rod has definitely been hanging out on here to come up with those two things. Though I suspect it's approached from a "what are those daft feminists whittering on about now?" standpoint.

I didn't know we had a lobby. Hahahaha

TimeLady · 23/07/2018 06:12

I'd share a meal with Rod Liddle in preference to right-on Owen Jones any day of the week.

Like it or not, a large proportion of the population agree with him.

If any of you are truly gender critical; you'll know that a women's t-shirt is in no way inherently belonging to women. It's just that our society decided to cut t-shirt thst way to emphasise certain aesthetics. And so celebrating this tired old meme (its about Riley Dennis and I think either Blaire White or Shoe0nhead got there first, by a coupe of years) is kind of silly and antithetical to what the general community here claims to believe.

"Meanwhile, the transgender lobby, still on its surreal march to deny reality,is insistent that men who transition to being women can suffer very badly from period pains"

I didn't know we had a lobby. Neat. Also we are not and were never men; even if other people really want to believe otherwise. Though I agree, trans women don't experience period pains, it's probably just trapped gas. Hahaha.

I only saw one trans woman say that she did have period pains and I saw many trans women say she was wrong. Including about 30 of them in my discord server, where we had a good discussion about it all.

In short; we came to the conclusion that depending on the method of hormone therapy you're taking you may experience some of the things common during periods which rely on hormone levels changing. It's unlikely to happen if you're taking daily pills, but if you take monthly injections then there's a significant drop off of oestrogen in your system by the 21st day which could cause some period like symptoms.

I think the whole "trans women have periods" thing is a silly hill to die on though. Many women don't have periods, I don't see why trans women would need to argue that we do, as if it's somehow affirming our womanhood?

RL in general is a rather disgusting person though. I don't think many of you would support a lot of the other things he says.

Oscarino · 23/07/2018 03:22

If a really bad person, of dispicable political views and low moral character said “the sky is blue” does that make them any less reprehensible? No. Does it make the sky any less blue? No.

Not suggesting that mr Liddell is reprehensible, just that your, or my, opinion of him in general has no bearing on the truth, or otherwise, of what he says.

This “ooooh, bad people say the same as you, that means you’re wrong and a bad person” is so childish. It offers no argument. It also doesn’t seem to work both ways - there are some truly awful people saying “transwomen are women” and yet we are not allowed to simply dismiss the statement based on their awfulness (not that we would, there are plenty of real reasons to dismiss that statement)

MillyTheKid · 23/07/2018 01:32

Let's not do reductio ad hitlerium yet again re Mr Liddell.

Looking forward to the natural progression then and we eventually get a thread that says 'Yes, Nick Griffin is a bit of a twit but he's right about trans people, let's applaud him on that one.'

ErrolTheDragon · 23/07/2018 01:14

It's been mentioned on a couple of other threads where it had some relevance.

He's someone who's not afraid to call a spade a bloody shovel.

Let's not do reductio ad hitlerium yet again re Mr Liddell.

Wanderabout · 23/07/2018 00:46

He is a twit and worse. He can name reality and is not afraid to.

BreakWindandFire · 23/07/2018 00:28

Or his conviction for DV against his pregnant wife!

MillyTheKid · 22/07/2018 23:36

RL is a twit

That's putting it mildly. I'd do a bit of research on his views on racial issues before praising him too much.

FloralBunting · 22/07/2018 23:28

He's clearly been reading FWR recently.

MsMcWoodle · 22/07/2018 22:47

Strange allies indeed. RL is a twit, but he's right on this. Good for him. He'll get a lot of abuse (but not as much as women speaking out).
