Jaysus, I've trawled through the last few pages of this to catch up, in the hope of getting a definition of woman (according to FriendlyNeighbourhood)

My understanding is that Friendly is no more.

L0UISA · 24/07/2018 07:54

No Mary, there’s no definition of womanhood, or being a woman, or living as woman. Except to say that science and biology are wrong, it’s ONLY about feelings and performing femininity.

Not your feelings of course, because as an XX person you are a hateful bigot and your feelings are worthless. Only the feelings of XY people are valid.

I'm 63. Can't recall ever being asked for anything in the ladies by a stranger either.

Re passing: out in town on Sunday, I clocked a person coming towards me which clearly sent out an automatic 'alert' to look twice. It was the male frame and gait combined with a bright yellow dress, three inches above the knee and clumpy platform sandals that (instinctively) looked out of place. Clearly a 'bloke in a dress' as my male companions sniggered. Not very kind of them, for sure, but that was the reality.

I have no problem with blokes in dresses, but if you're in your 50s, like this one, at least try and adopt age-appropriate clothing if you want to 'pass'.

Would I have be comfortable with him in a sex-segregated space, especially if I was the only other one there? Definitely not. He was far bigger and stronger than me and he was just a random bloke, albeit it in a dress, and my instincts would be to treat him as any other random bloke. Would I have challenged him? No - he was bigger and stronger than me. I would have gone elsewhere and probably notched up a little resentment mark on the post because I was the one who felt compelled to change my ways.

That ultimately may be the reaction; tolerance by women will be eroded if their spaces are encroached. Be careful of what you wish for.

Regarding taking a shit and the prostate, a man I knew at university once announced that he'd rather have a good shit than a bad fuck.

thebewilderness · 24/07/2018 00:30

It's not like it's the penis itself that does the harm - it's the person behind the penis who is responsible.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
And yet the close proximity of a penis to a gun causes the death rate to increase dramatically.
Fancy that.

Maryzsnewaccount · 24/07/2018 00:19

In my opinion it's a validation of being more important than women, rather than validation of being a woman, that some of them want.

We didn't get one did we?

Datun · 24/07/2018 00:04

That's not what gender reassignment means Pam.

Calling the protected characteristic 'gender reassignment' is a bit of a misnomer.

It means nothing other than your intention to transition. So telling your mum, your partner, or your best friend.

That's it. You're covered under equality law soon as you say it out loud.

Getting a GRC gives the protected characteristic of being a legal woman. (So sex).

It's quite important in terms of all women shortlists and prisons. But technically, not for much else. Although anecdotally, it is seen to be taken far more seriously than just the protected characteristic of gender reassignment.

It also means you can't challenge someone because you can't out them by asking for proof.

Neither of these two things require any kind of surgery or modification whatsoever.

OldCrone · 24/07/2018 00:00

theOtherPamAyres
You have the protected characteristic of gender reassignment as soon as you decide to reassign your gender. No actual physical gender reassignment is necessary.

Datun · 23/07/2018 23:59

Sorry that was replying to kittens.

Datun · 23/07/2018 23:58

And it's something I think is genuinely the goal.

Certainly on this thread. No attempt to be anything other than opposing, bullying and coercive. (I'm not talking about the transsexuals earlier).

theOtherPamAyres · 23/07/2018 23:54

I meant to add that the legal action brought by the transwoman was probably around the claim of discrimination on the grounds of the protected characteristic of gender reassignment. Which is fair enough.

It's the ones that haven't had gender reassignment that need acceptance and validation of their lady-organ in a Womens' space.

AngryAttackKittens · 23/07/2018 23:50

Which is in fact validation of a male identity, not a female one.

Datun · 23/07/2018 23:46

I don't understand the validation bit either, to be honest.

As often mentioned, most late transitioning transwomen don't pass. So they're not being validated as female.

The only validation I would be giving is validation that they can do what they like, irrespective of what I want.

theOtherPamAyres · 23/07/2018 23:35

I remember lurking around a topic about a transwoman's successful legal action against a Ferry Company, way back in 2016. It was something to do with humiliation at being directed away from the Womens' toilets towards the disabled toilet. One comment struck me:

"....someone wants to use the women's toilets as a validation booth, rather than a place to piss"

A Validation Booth is right, in my opinion.

I've found the old topic:

Voice0fReason · 23/07/2018 23:35

Why does not having surgery matter that much to you? It's not like it's the penis itself that does the harm - it's the person behind the penis who is responsible.
I know with 100% certainty that when I am in a state of undress around women that I am not at risk of being raped by any of them.
As soon as there is a man in the room then I am no longer as safe.
I cannot be raped by a woman, I can be raped by a man. That is because men have a penis and women don't.
I have never felt leered at or at risk of sex abuse by any woman ever.
I have felt leered at or been groped many times by men

Your arguments about being at risk from people wearing jeans or female rapists is a demonstration of how weak your arguments are. It's all a bit pitiful, trying to explain how women are just as dangerous as men. Batshit crazy and positively creepy.

I don't know if it was your intention but you have further reinforced my belief that transwomen have absolutely no clue how it feels to be female.

BettyDuMonde · 23/07/2018 23:34

Ginger mother of a ginger baby here. Who also has a ginger father.

I don’t understand the genetics but it’s definitely possible to breed more ginger people on purpose, should we want to - is it possible to breed more trans people on purpose or is it in fact, nothing like being ginger at all?

Datun · 23/07/2018 23:26

Bespin? You like a little chat. Is it true?

TellsEveryoneRealFacts · 23/07/2018 23:20

Datun...

Thanks for that.

LangCleg · 23/07/2018 23:19

I am just dying of laughter here!

Now, I am going to bed. And I am not going to enquire about this with the DH. Nuh fucking uh.

AngryAttackKittens · 23/07/2018 23:18

Didn't think anything could out-gross the AGP comment on the transwidows thread but that did it!

I always figured that the male digestive system just worked at the pace of a particularly lazy sloth.

Datun · 23/07/2018 23:17

Praps the prostrate owners on here can enlighten us?

Datun · 23/07/2018 23:15

HAHahaha!

Well there has to be a reason. It's a pretty universal experience.

LangCleg · 23/07/2018 23:15

I believe the general feeling was it something to do with the prostate? And men taking a shit being a rather more pleasant experience than it is for women?

Eww! Eye bleach! Eye bleach!

Gingernaut · 23/07/2018 23:13

Sorry, that's just a copied quote.

I meant to Bold that last one. 😳
