Why “Get The L Out” ?
July 5, 2018
Angela C. Wild
Who We Are

Get the L Out is a group of lesbian and feminist individuals and organisations, opposing the increasingly anti-lesbian and misogynistic LGBT movement and the erasure of lesbians

Why We Protest

We believe that lesbian rights are under attack by the trans movement and we encourage lesbians everywhere to leave the LGBT and form their own independent movement, as well as to be vocal and take action against the proposed changes to the GRA.

Get the L Out believes trans politics (with uncritical support from the LGBT movement) does the following:

Promotes the social transition of lesbians, encouraging them to present as straight men thus favouring the pretence of heterosexuality over lesbianism – this is nothing more than a form of conversion therapy.
Promotes the medical transition of lesbians and pushes harmful drugs (untested hormone blockers, Lupron etc.) as well as unnecessary medical practices on perfectly healthy bodies – these are a form of misogynist medical abuse against lesbians.
Promotes the rights of heterosexual males who “identify” as women and lesbians (despite most of them still retaining their male genitals) over the rights of lesbians to choose their sexual partners. This new ‘queer’ LGBT politics thus coerces lesbians to accept the penis as a female organ and promotes heterosexual intercourse between male and female as a form of lesbian sex. This is simply a new facet to rape culture and compulsory heterosexuality." (continues)

Its a great film and a really profound. Some of my friends are watching it with their children to try to give a really important perspective.

postcards what do you think the L in LGBT stands for.

WrongOnTheInternet · 10/07/2018 21:19

If transactivists are starting a petition about how transphobic lesbians are, can lesbians start a petition about how lesbophobic transactivists are? One that straight women can support?

It's basically the old shit about men not being able to take 'no' for an answer off women. Poor little delicate loves.

RunOfTheMill · 10/07/2018 20:56

R0wantrees

Has a point, uniting with Catholics isn't a bad idea. You may be surprised how supportive they are to the plight of lesbians over this issue. It could heal old wounds. The Catholic Bishops of England have come out on the GC feminists side as has the Pope.

Corbyn has a large Irish Catholic population in his constituency.

Bowlofbabelfish · 10/07/2018 20:54

cistern if you’re still around I’d be interested to hear what a ‘chemical period’ is?

ArcheryAnnie · 10/07/2018 20:53

R0wantrees thank you for posting that. Have just had a bit of a cry (in a good way).

But yeah - political action is what pride is supposed to fucking be about.

Judder · 10/07/2018 20:42

I find it terrifying that lesbians are being demonised for being lesbians - and from within their own wider LGBT community. I am in awe of those amazingly brave women who held the banners and marched, incredible strength. Flowers

R0wantrees · 10/07/2018 20:32

I think people who are so upset with the protest by lesbians should watch or rewatch the film 'Pride' (its on Netflix), a true story.

(and if they're not able, this clip is from the end is definitely worth watching, with apologies for the spoiler)

Thank you Blythe and friends for being so brave and resourceful when I am so weak. Lesbian = same sex attraction. Flowers

RunOfTheMill · 10/07/2018 20:23

Two 80yo Catholics from a family of straight people are outraged on your behalf 'Get the L out' they have assured me they will spread the word. Wink "Why are they all going against the lesbians?" and "They should leave the girls alone if they only like girls" was the attitude. To be fair there was never homophobia with these people, in the 80s one stopped an injustice to a gay man because of his sexual orientation.

They don't like Commander Sir Dick Khan anymore so will be discussing his behaviour with many London Catholics.

Catholics are already on the GC feminist side anyway, they believe people should be loved for who they are and accept who they are.

Italiangreyhound · 10/07/2018 20:20

@BlytheByName you are a star.I am not a lesbian but I do admire all of you who took a stand.

SuperDandy · 10/07/2018 20:19

Sophocles I wasn't going off at you personally and I'm sorry if it felt that way. Posting on this board a sign a non poster means being consistently disparaged belittled and attacked Eresh in particular has seems to have a problem with just about everything I say.

Like you say, the fucked up stuff earlier in this thread was vile, and it sure as shit is not in my name. Nor is any of the fucked up vileness.

What I resent is the constant need to fight off accusations of condoning or worse, of actively participating in TRA shit, by dint of not ignoring the flaws I see in the GC side of things.

Pratchet · 10/07/2018 20:13

Super youvgavw show your true colours. Shameful.

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 20:08

I don't find your explanation at all convincing so we'd best leave it there as it's not going to be an edifying discussion.

SophoclesTheFox · 10/07/2018 20:04

No need to go off at me because your post could be read two ways. There was some extremely upsetting content earlier on the thread that primed the debate for exactly that reading to be easily made. Cistern set the benchmark for "fucked up" with the "chemical period", and the vagina-like penis on hormones. So right here on this thread, we already had the wilder end.

I get that you're not at the wilder end. That's good Smile

Roachella · 10/07/2018 20:02

Blythe, I salute you and your friends.
May you go from strength to strength, sister.

SuperDandy · 10/07/2018 19:59

"I've just explained (and Rowan alluded to) in really quite simple terms why I felt what you posted was out of order and a false comparison, if you'd care to engage with the point of my post?"

There was no comparison. I didn't compare anything. I said it should not be used.

Look, you've made it quite clear on numerous occasions that it really doesn't matter what I say, you have personally decided what you think of me. Fine, whatever, but I'm asking again that you please stop putting words into my posts that are not there and generally slinging mud at everything I post. There is nothing "out of order" in that post, and I've clarified as soon as I realised it was being badly misinterpreted that I thoroughly condemn the nasty posts from TRAs using that.

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 19:53

If you didn't know what I mean another time then ask and I'll clarify. God knows we're none of us perfect at expressing ourselves in text.

Ok. Wouldn't want you to be misunderstood by anyone.

R0wantrees · 10/07/2018 19:52

If you didn't know what I mean another time then ask

SuperDandy that is exactly what I did.

and I'll clarify

which you could have done.

OP posts:
SuperDandy · 10/07/2018 19:49

FFS, I'll go back to posting wall of text then.

I am not on the wilder end of the genderist debate, never have been, never will be, and I've said that a lot of times now. And no I didn't know people would read it the first completely fucked up way, otherwise I wouldn't have written the post like that.

I don't need you to like me or agree with me, but please, for the love of vulvas, will you take me out of the twat TRA corner handmaiden you've got me poked into and stick me somewhere more in the middle? I really don't want to have to name change but there's little point me posting when any blanks or ambiguities are presumed to be filled with crap.

If you didn't know what I mean another time then ask and I'll clarify. God knows we're none of us perfect at expressing ourselves in text.

postcardsfrom · 10/07/2018 19:47

It’s LGBT Pride, so of course pushing in and stealing someone else’s place with an anti trans message was going to get a negative reaction.

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 19:44

On this occasion I did post to condemn the nasty shit that a non GC poster put up, and you've attacked me for being goady, so that went well didn't it.

Well you have an excuse not to bother then. It's all my fault, sure.

I've just explained (and Rowan alluded to) in really quite simple terms why I felt what you posted was out of order and a false comparison, if you'd care to engage with the point of my post?

R0wantrees · 10/07/2018 19:42

SuperDandy

Have a read of Sophocles post before yours.

It would seem she too found it ambiguous.

She is also similarly affected by these callous appropriations.

Perhaps there is a need for perspective here?

OP posts:
SuperDandy · 10/07/2018 19:37

Eresh, you can insert the notion of equality in there I feel you want, but I didn't write it or think it or feel it.

There are plenty of people here picking out everything wrong with the non GC nasties, you surely don't need me to join in to add weight to the condemnation of shitty things TRAs say. I have repeatedly said I don't condone the nasty shit they spout. If I saw someone spouting nasty shit on here and no one challenging it then I'd weigh in.

On this occasion I did post to condemn the nasty shit that a non GC poster put up, and you've attacked me for being goady, so that went well didn't it.

R0wan I'm not sure what you think I'm accusing you of. I was speaking of regular participants plural, not you as an individual. Re ambiguity I'm quite clear I need the definition thanks, but can you elucidate your alternative interpretation of my meaning? I'm sorry it wasn't crystal clear but I'm not seeing the ambiguity of saying people should stop citing it because it's really horrible.

SophoclesTheFox · 10/07/2018 19:37

I do so wish posters would not cite infertility, hysterectomy, missing genitals etc as in any way comparable or relevant to trans issues.

It's so massively inappropriate and horrible.

I also read it several times super and could not parse what the missing part of the second sentence is. You could read it as

"It's so massively inappropriate and horrible to trans people " (because it's triggering, exclusionary, less serious, a result of "cis privilege" or whatever - this is a view that gets some traction on the wilder end of the genderist debate).

OR

"It's so massively inappropriate and horrible to women affected by these issues " - in which case fine, that's a nice, supportive thing to say.

Trouble is, taking in context your posting history, people are liable to read it the first way. And I think you know that. Or if you don't, then maybe try explaining what you DO mean, rather than attacking people for reading your post the way it can quite clearly be read.

It's good that you think this is a shitty, shitty thing to do to women. I'm one of the women it's a shitty thing to do to, and I appreciate that. It's a bare minimum though. Really it is.
