I don't know too much about the protest that happened as I was at work but my DS and DD went to pride and told me they were outraged by it as were many others, does anyone have any links to the leaflets or something? I know nothing about it just that it was badmouthed by DS and apparently the leaflets were culty Hmm
They didn't keep any though so I'm really lost on what the protest was

Ereshkigal · 11/07/2018 08:59

You answered your own question Morgan - lesbian's are freaking out because you're holding fucking workshops on how to get them to accept "ladydick" when they're lesbians.

YY. MN gets a mention in that article for its "dizzying heights" of transphobia.

NewbieSpartacus · 11/07/2018 04:20

Agree with you, they're so fucking earnest I feel sorry for them. 😂

JoanSummers · 11/07/2018 01:40

You're probably right, I'm of the generation that thought free parties, taking copious pills and acid, shagging anyone and everyone for any reason (or none) and smoking weed from dawn to dusk would ultimately lead us to more "love" and somehow save the planet.. bunch of muppets!

Still at least we were having fun some of the time. These pretentious 'queer' kids are so joyless. If I wasn't a big grown up mum type I might be advocating that we slip them all half a tab one day and get their minds open and the questions tumbling out.

NewbieSpartacus · 11/07/2018 01:26

I think maybe we were! In the sense of adolescents thinking they know it all, are the only ones with a conscience etc. But of course when we were that age (well, speaking for myself!) and arguing against homophobia, apartheid etc - we were on the right side! I love my kids, and they are really articulate and educated and clever, but also really ignorant and dumb sometimes. I love them too much to say go and pretend you're a woman.

JoanSummers · 11/07/2018 01:07

My trans-IDing kid is in a hetero relationship with a girl who identifies as lesbian and non binary. They are woke as fuck. What we see is a boy/girl bog standard relationship between two white middle class privileged teenagers who desperately need to be special.

I come across these het 'queer' gender conforming self-absorbed incredibly privileged (in comparison) whiny mid-late teens all the time and as a poor as shit working class gender nonconforming bi woman it really, really grinds at my brain. I can only begin to imagine how actual lesbians feel about it all. These kids are an ignorant and arrogant homophobic mess. (Apologies to your child and their partner, I'm talking about the pack in general and jeezus but their attitudes are shocking).

Thankfully the kids I meet who are closer to 13/14 and under think it's all a load of crap and usually aren't shy about saying so. I know this fad will pass but being spoken down to by children with a superiority complex who then claim I am a 'privileged cis' - gawd who invented teenagers and can they just take it back, please!

Were we this awful?

Floorplan · 11/07/2018 00:57

Wow first time I actually saw what went on. It was immense a real turning point I think. The marshals reactions were perhaps the funniest part but of course it's not funny it's ultimately about lesbians, women, transexuals and worst of all, emergent homosexual young people of both genders being led down the path of transgenderism.

When will this madness end?

ToeToToe · 11/07/2018 00:32

Thanks for posting that video. Screenshots at the end:

So - the "working through the cotton ceiling - breaking down sexual barriers for queer transwomen" Workshop shown- Held by Morgan M Page.

Would that be the same Morgan M Page who wrote this Buzzfeed article - "Why are some Lesbians in the UK freaking out about Trans?" ??

You answered your own question Morgan - lesbian's are freaking out because you're holding fucking workshops on how to get them to accept "ladydick" when they're lesbians.

LeiaTheSlaya · 11/07/2018 00:27

Loved that footage, they were amazing, just utterly brilliant.

NewbieSpartacus · 11/07/2018 00:15

Joan Weirdly I keep meeting 16-18 year olds who are doing the opposite of this - they claim to be trans or non binary or gender queer but are complete gender conforming. They claim to be pansexual or queer but are always in heterosexual relationships with other "non binary" etc gender conformers. They seem completely blind to this reality and if you point it out online they go apeshit, point it out in real life and they go quiet and look both silly and like they've been caught with their hand in the cake tin.

Thank you for saying this! My trans-IDing kid is in a hetero relationship with a girl who identifies as lesbian and non binary. They are woke as fuck. What we see is a boy/girl bog standard relationship between two white middle class privileged teenagers who desperately need to be special. That's why as much as we love him, we won't pander to it, I don't feel in my gut it's real.

Ereshkigal · 10/07/2018 22:21

They are Moomin. I'm in awe of their guts and tenacity. To all of you Thanks

Moominfan · 10/07/2018 21:02

Footage of what happened. Some really brave ladies going out in front of that crowd.

Miranda Yardley Comments:
"I first spoke with Stonewall’s Ruth Hunt just over three years ago when the organisation announced it would be engaging with the transgender community. This resulted in the forming of the Stonewall Trans Advisory Group, you know that motley crew of transgender tyrants, including the self-styled (styled as if it were 1973) answer for any heterosexual woman who wishes to bring out her ‘inner lesbian’, Alex ‘Beardy’ Drummond. cheeky wink

Ruth, bless her fighting heart, has been defending transgender activists to an extraordinary degree, indeed there appears to be no transgression she cannot overlook with her inbuilt sense of forgiveness which seems divine in breadth and depth. She has embraced the very dogma that makes real life discussion, debate and compromise with transgenderists impossible, dogma which positions the interests of the T in ‘LGBT’ in opposition to anyone who considers biological sex to be important in any material way: trans women are women, no debate, end of.

Quite aside from it being cruel to humour delusional claims of one being something one is not, positioning one’s acceptance of an individual on a lie is outright dishonest. And anyway, what is a lesbian and gay group doing when it considers the thoughts and feelings of personal identity more important than the reality of our sexed bodies?" (continues)

therealposieparker · 10/07/2018 13:51

I wonder if Ruth Hunt has always thought trans women are women. I'd like to see her publicly state that she has.

TheGoddessFrigg · 10/07/2018 13:45

Noisy women who screamed down a megaphone?

The misogyny is strong with this one.... Angry

iamawoman · 10/07/2018 13:34

By that logic of using queer instead of lesbian to include trans . We should just do away with women and rename all as men (or non-men if you are in the green party). And nobody should call a cat a cat as that is exluding dogs. And calling yourself queer well that is excluding heterosexual women too....or maybe not actually as arent some heterosexuals now queer as well ?

mikado1 · 09/07/2018 22:01

Isn't it funny that CJ, after surgery ie as a TW, said they were ,'heterosexual' and hadn't had an interest in men ie didn't call herself a lesbian.. referred to her previous self re ongoing sexuality.
PS I think her gf (also tw) looks like KK!

OlennasWimple · 09/07/2018 20:23

I dont know why anyone takes it seriously, it is only one step on from loom bands.

Grin Grin Grin

PersonWithAVulva · 09/07/2018 20:15

When did the protesters claim to represent all lesbians? Like every lesbian in London, in the UK, on the planet?! Its just such a silly argument really.

It's extroordinary how rattled people must be by this. It's in the Guardian, on the BBC website. Stonewall and Pride are releasing statements about it. And the hyperbole they are using is quite funny. Any casual observer might well be saying 'Eh?" That's a few women; what's all the fuss about?

They are rattled and they are shooting themselves in the foot

the Pool - a site for women, apparently. Hmm

gendercritter · 09/07/2018 14:26

Op I have 2 female friends in a relationship. I would imagine they would condemn what happened at Pride too. I don't discuss anything to do with this issue with them as I know they consider tw to be women. They are kind, considerate people who think the way they do out of a desire to be inclusive.

The thing that makes me sad is they won't even call themselves lesbians anymore. They label themselves queer. The way I understood the conversation about it, to call themselves lesbians is to possibly exclude trans people and make them uncomfortable

That right there is lesbians being erased. It makes me really angry.

R0wantrees · 09/07/2018 14:24

I have been watching the Lucy Wolsey documentary on suffragettes and there are so many parallels here with society's disapproval of 'noisy' 'screaming' women who dare to speak out. When suffragettes marched, they were ridiculed and caricatures of old hags and harpies with sharp teeth and deformed features were distributed. Not much has changed really, has it?*

Event held in London, Tuesday 22 May 2018.
Organised by the Lesbian Rights Alliance.

Linda Bellos, "I'm a bit of an expert in equality law"

"Other women fought for our rights, not only the right to vote but the right for education, the right to place thoughts and now what do we find? Just as we are beginning to enjoy freedom, a group of young men & older men seek to take away those rights by claiming to be women therefore invalidating all we have fought for. So, as you can probably tell, I'm a bit pissed off. and I do intend to use the law" (continues)

A transwomen will not want to sleep with a straight woman, because it is telling the world that the straight woman thinks they're not a woman.

This is a really interesting point. I'd never thought of it like that.

The only deviation from that, I think, is when a married man declares he is trans and wants to stay in his marriage. I was reading the Twitter profile of a Canadian woman recently - I didn't write down her name I'm afraid, but her young teenage son came out as trans and then her husband did too. She's quite vociferous about supporting trans rights

Anyway, it just made me think I'm not so sure these husbands want validating as lesbians quite so much as they just want their cosy marriages to continue because they're comfortable. They remind me of men who have affairs but when they're found out, actually just want to stay with their wives.

But I could be wrong.
