They are representations of the Christian Virtues who were shown as women. The one holding the mirror is Prudence - it’s her symbol in the same way Justice has the scales.

It’s a beautiful painting. Smile

Googled her and here is her "Allegory of Justice, Charity, and Prudence" - also celebrating women and motherhood.

I haven't heard of that artist before. Old "masterpieces" by men are often very objectifying. Now that, though, is a good painting!

Occam I got a weird 'youtube will track you watching this video' message and had to agree to that prior to watching that vid. WTF is that about? It's just many photos of wonderful and beautiful women and girls.

In this new Gilead are we not allowed to look at completely innocent photos of females?!

No problem @waddlelikeapenguin - I love them too. Women’s bodies (carved in stone or actual living breathing ones) are infinitely tactile. Really pisses me off how touch is so sexualised (of course it’s sexy, sometimes, but that isn’t all it is).
