Why do trans folk need 'extra' rights?

lurker33 · 04/07/2018 13:37

Imagine a UK without the GRC, and the same equality act as we have now.

Why would trans folk need extra 'rights' over those that the equality act provided?

What rights do trans folk require that they wouldn't already have?

Although i did tell a friend that her puppies would make awesome slippers...and im not even very tall!!

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 05/07/2018 08:41

Thank you bespin

I appreciate its difficult when there are a lot of posters 'talking' at once but i do try and treat posters as individuals (as do a lot of other people on here)

Not aimed at you at all but i hate the all trans, all feminist, all remainer, all leaver etc thats so prevalent on here.

And its never all tall women are lovely.....its all tall women want to kill babies and wear puppies as hats Grin

Bespin · 05/07/2018 08:36

F*cking auto correct

Bespin · 05/07/2018 08:34

I will Try rufus I find it hard on here as when discussing this I will often get personal attacking posts aimed at me and not the points that I make. If I. Address an individual posters points as above. I try limit making Personal points so it is probably why it comes across like that. I'm if you feel I'm over generalising. I have personally found your points always enguging and addressing the points raised wanting to work forwards and not repeat the same things over and over.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 05/07/2018 08:02

bespin can you do me a favour

When you reply to my posts can you try to use general terms when i do

I really don't appreciate me talking about how nobody answers and/or nobody says what rights and the reply says ' well transpeople this and that'

Im rarely referencing transpeople as i think most of the idiots saying stupid comments would fully admit tha they were not trans, they are the equivalent to me of plonkers who trot around saying we should ban Christmas because muslims dont like it while actual muslims go Confused

Thank you Smile

No problem with complying with the above post and would ask that the poster also not comment on the points that I make and respect my clear boundaries around holding an alternative view. I have had a number of posts that have now been deleted direct at me and do not wish to receive any further posts that need deleting. I feel that this would be for the best.
Hope that you get the things you seek in life.

Brill Ereshkigal would genuinely like to know that as the piece in the times today by Debbie talks about what is the soliton a lot of trans people are very worried as people are stating in effect that they don't want them to be able to function in society and when they ask about this they are often told that is not our problem its yours you sort it out. And I think it is this that is causing a. Lot of issue I acknowledge that there are concerns I have some too but a solution as to work on practical terms as I am not going to stop living my life or acsessing the services that I need, and then you end up with the American situation with bathroom bills which don't work and usually adversely effect non trans people more.

alexpolistigers · 05/07/2018 05:58

Another one in favour of repealing the GRA.

Ereshkigal · 05/07/2018 01:53

But still no one wanting to state how you can do that

Leave it with us.

No. I don't read any of your comments any more.
I think it is clear that our views aren't simpatico. I find your contributions to FWR very goady and I prefer not to interact with you. If we find ourselves contributing to the same threads, please do not address me directly or quote my posts in order to engage me. This is a clear boundary. Please respect it. I won't be responding further.
Go well.

Bespin · 05/07/2018 01:31

But still no one wanting to state how you can do that oh well night night

Ereshkigal · 05/07/2018 01:28

trans people have the rights accorded to their sex and all that's needed is gender non conformity protection against discrimination.

Repeal the GRA

this

Co signed.

LuluJakey1 · 05/07/2018 01:21

They don't need extra rights more than any other 'group' - they just want them and we are so scared as a country to say no to any minority that the government is going to ridiculous lengths to accommodate their selfish, bullying, discriminatory demands at the expense of us women.

Bespin · 05/07/2018 01:16

This was in 2014 I think I've had a few jobs since then and was the reason I came away from service user lead work for a while but realised I did miss it.

I am sorry if anyone is upset by my posts I just put what is my reality down if people don't like it I can not stop that. But it does not change how things happened or do happen. There is a. Lot. Of people on here on both sides that don't really know how these things are used and I can only. Give my examples and there maybe others that conflict with that

Ereshkigal · 05/07/2018 01:08

SarahAr is gnashing their teeth at you, you've destroyed their glib "anyone can ask to see a GRA" platitude.

Ereshkigal · 05/07/2018 01:06

Was that recent Bespin?

Bespin · 05/07/2018 01:06

Ereshkigal well its a shame your not as then we might be able to discuss things I'm interested in your questions I have answered many on threads to show that people do have other views on this I don't ask you to change yours just that I also have my view

See last. Post were I was effecrly told no due to current legislation. And was fine as it was correct

Adding Self ID to the gender reassignment category rights has recently been adopted as a result of transgender advocates providing fraudulent lists of the protected categories

Yes, great point.

Bespin · 05/07/2018 01:01

Ereshkigal in no way do I think there fun I have had to change a job role due to them which I was happy to do as I did not wish to be in conflict with people and it was the correft thing to do. This was worked out before any need to take legal action and was done in cooperation with my hr department.

Ereshkigal · 05/07/2018 01:00

Ereshkigal why not answer my previous questions first as no one yet as even tried to address them plead. Feel free to have a go.

I'm not interested in your questions. You're the one who was answering cherry picking questions.

thebewilderness · 05/07/2018 00:58

The issue isn't trans people demanding lots of mystical special rights, this is about trans people and allies campaigning to stop groups trying to remove the rights they have, especially sex-segregated spaces that allow trans people to the use the facilities they always have.

People who assert that they are starting gender reassignment are entitled to use whichever facility they choose.
A rather bizarre special right that has caused many problems over the years. Adding Self ID to the gender reassignment category rights has recently been adopted as a result of transgender advocates providing fraudulent lists of the protected categories.
The effort appears to be of creating a special class of people, gender reassigned, who must never be told no.

Ereshkigal · 05/07/2018 00:57

*Why you think they were included? Why not let all GRA holding bio males into women's spaces?

Ereshkigal · 05/07/2018 00:56

To be trans then the organisation as the right to ask that question of them as long as this was done in line with the ea in a way that was demonstrated that it was due to the exception the trans person then would not win a legal challenge of discrimation.

And how would they prove they were telling the truth? Do you think the exemptions are for fun? Why exactly do you thi
