Why can't transmen inherit over males?

Why is this the exception to 'trans people ARE the opposite sex they identify as?'

Looks like genderism to me and extremely transphobic.

The reason this is still law is because the MPs know that the House of Lords would never pass a Bill that allows a woman to become a man to claim a title.
That's it. HoL looking after their own (men)

like me offering everybody here a lift in my flying car to anywhere they wanted to go. Very generous of me, but I don't own Chitty Fucking Bang-Bang so aint gonna actually happen

Brilliant thread, just brilliant.

I think I might start campaigning for the removal of the religious based exemptions because ‘transmen are men’.

DickTERFin · 03/07/2018 21:37

Oh of course Snappity thinks it should be deleted.

It's easy to concede something that barely anybody relies on, in order to uphold the status quo. In the history of forever, the likelihood of a woman going so far as to actually transition to a man in order to inherit a peerage is going to be as rare as hen's teeth. It's like me offering everybody here a lift in my flying car to anywhere they wanted to go. Very generous of me, but I don't own Chitty Fucking Bang-Bang so aint gonna actually happen.

Not so true of a predator transitioning in order to access their preferred victims though - funny that.

"The choice here is between what some people think and what all of us can see. We should choose what all of us can see." Lord Tebbitt nailed it. Taken from @OlennasWimple Lords discussion link on P1.

pombear · 03/07/2018 21:18

Ohhh, I was off to bed, but this:

Because if someone could change sex to get a peerage and a multi-million pound estate there's potential for abuse

Really ? The only time transing could be potentially used for abuse is for money?

Ha ha ha plop (Sound of me laughing my head off!)

I have never heard of Earl Ferrers before but I find myself quite endeared to him.

Sadly, he does not seem to be around any more. Sad

That was the sound of my irony-meter exploding. It has now been replaced by the gentle flutter of cardboard drifting to the floor, which I think must be the sound of Snappity's house of cards collapsing round Snappity's ears.

Thank you for this thread it's cheered me right up snap

This thread has cheered me up today. Special thanks to Snappity Smile

Feminists: We mustn't allow men identifying as women into women-only spaces because men would abuse it.

TRAs: That would totally never happen.

Feminists: We should therefore allow women identifying as men become priests and have the right to primogeniture.

TRAs: We can't possibly allow that because women would abuse it.

hackmum · 03/07/2018 19:52

SardinesAreYum · 03/07/2018 19:27

Errol has the right answer in the post just before mine.

SardinesAreYum · 03/07/2018 19:23

Not RTFT or even the OP.

Because Patriarchy.

Now going to read and see if I got full marks for my answer Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 03/07/2018 19:17

The correct cure for the primogeniture problem is of course to stop discriminating against women,as has already been done in the case of royal succession, so that this provision would be rendered completely unnecessary.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/07/2018 18:37

This is probably one ripe for deletion.

Sorry, do you mean you think that protections against potential abuse should be removed rather than extended to cover possible abuses by males?

OlennasWimple · 03/07/2018 18:32

Yes, the last question basically says "Anything else?" Primogeniture and ministers of religion are the obvious things to mention (though I'm sure that they will be ruled out of scope for the consultation, as they say on multiple occasions it's only about the process for getting a GRC...)

Snappity · 03/07/2018 18:25

The consultation asks what other parts of the GRA should be changed. This is probably one ripe for deletion.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/07/2018 18:22

Men and non-men. Yup.

Sarahconnor1 · 03/07/2018 18:22

This and snappitys response perfectly illustrates the utter hypocrisy that surrounds this whole issue.

I, for one, am glad snappity has acknowledged that people may abuse the system.

OvaHere · 03/07/2018 18:20

This proposed legislation is one of the biggest pieces of straight male activism ever.

Transwomen are women but also transmen are women.

It shunts all those gender non conforming men into the box ticked women but also keeps gender non conforming women still in the box ticked women (if it looks like they might gain something by claiming male status).

This is a massive win for gender conforming men.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/07/2018 18:20

No-one actually believes that you can change your biological sex.

And they most certainly don't believe the notion that a trans person was 'misassigned' at birth so that a transman really and truly was always a man merely 'trapped in the wrong body'.

busyboysmum · 03/07/2018 18:14

This is all hilarious and goes to prove what we have all been saying all along. No-one actually believes that you can change your biological sex.

TheRollingCrone · 03/07/2018 18:14

I think the exception for transmen stands because no-one truly believes it's possible to change sex.

TransplantsArePlants · 03/07/2018 18:10
