www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/jun/30/women-fest-first-man-free-festival-sisterhood-song

"All women are welcome at the festival, says Jacout, including transgender women and pre-operative individuals. "We're also happy to have non-binary people provided they have a vagina; but not non-binary people with a penis, because we have to draw the line somewhere"

What line? You've just said "pre-operative individuals" ffs! I'm so tired of this.

She’s sold 150 tickets?

To Kate, Helen and Pat. One has been bought for Phoebe too but Phoebe will go awol on the day or make sure Roy signs her up for shifts at Grey Gables she can't get out of.

Kate will offer the ticket to Lexi who will refuse with that special Bulgarian harumphing sound she uses when people are talking nonsense. Emma will spontaneously combust when she hears there are idiots willing to pay £225 for this.

littlbrowndog · 01/07/2018 17:11

On the plus side there is yoni massageWink

HermioneWeasley · 01/07/2018 17:05

She’s sold 150 tickets ?!

WanderingWavelet · 01/07/2018 16:58

I wonder what it means to FULLY identify as a woman

Clearly, ensuring that you're paid 15% less than your [male] peers. On transition, you need to give back 15% of your salary, take on 80% of the household work, 100% of the emotional labour, and still worry that you're not doing enough.

Except ... this is not what transwomen actually do.

Pratchet · 01/07/2018 16:39

This is so funny. Maybe acronym won't want to attend, what with them being so welcome, and it might actually turn into an all woman event!

Alternatively one gift from the TRA is to to attend these womb-drumming festivals while women themselves are so put off, they are pulled back to pull real activism.

groundcontroltomontydon · 01/07/2018 16:27

O Is this the way they say the future's meant to feel, or just [150] people [drumming] in a field?

buttyblahblah · 01/07/2018 16:26

Groundcontrol I just ate steamed pork dumplings, I can only think of tiny steamed testicles now. It's not pretty.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/07/2018 16:21

Yes
"Genderqueer, also known as non-binary, is a catch-all category for gender identities that are not exclusively masculine or feminine‍—identities which are outside the gender binary and cisnormativity. Genderqueer people may express a combination of masculinity and femininity, or neither, in their gender expression."

We're a binary species with regard to to sex but analog with regard to 'gender', with some traits tending towards 'feminine' and some 'masculine' to various degrees.

Except most of us are grownups who CBA to have a 'gender identity' rather than a character.

newtlover · 01/07/2018 16:16

agree with Lass's description
there's a lot of stuff in there about red tents. sacred womb energy and womb shamanism....I suspect they haven't really thrashed this one out, can't see how someone who has never had a womb is going to get on in the red tent- surely no amount of mental gymnastics can make that stack up

WanderingWavelet · 01/07/2018 16:07

I'm starting to "come out" as non-binary & gender non-conforming as often as I can now.

I mean, I earn more than most men I know. I have more status and privilege. I wear trousers (or dresses, whichever I feel like when I wake up). I boss people about, and people defer to me at work. I'm at the top of a male-dominated profession.

I could go on, but you know, I'd get big-headed with how important & woke I am Hmm Blush

We should all identify as non-binary. Because it's a stupid useless category. Most people are gender non-conforming non-binary. We're human, with variety and difference (which is what is fabulous about each & every single person).

misscockerspaniel · 01/07/2018 15:55

You couldn't make this up, could you. I only wish the BBC would televise it.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 01/07/2018 15:52

I know, Hungry. Many of the women who had gone back to what they called The Land year after year - some for decades - are still heartbroken, and I can see why. Sounds as if it was amazing for women, particularly for lesbians.

Camp Trans, set up nearby, was full of AGP bullies who either tried to disrupt Michfest openly or infiltrated and then posted proud selfies.

LassWiADelicateAir · 01/07/2018 15:44

It's all just rubbish isn't it? I'm not even referring to who or who isn't able to attend but it really is vacuous nonsense.

There is more of it on the link below. It's as if ^Viz' had asked Kate Aldridge from the Archers to be the guest editor of "Milly Tant" and Kate doesn't realise it's a parody.

OlennasWimple · 01/07/2018 15:41

I read "pre-operative individuals" to mean "transmen who has not yet had penis construction surgery" (they can't use the word "transman" because they've said it's for women only and they can't use the word "woman" because transmen reject that they are women)

Iloveirnbru · 01/07/2018 15:40

I'm sensing it's not my kind of thing, especially with the drums

To be fair, I think even the TRA's will be giving this one a miss.....
It sounds fucking awful

hungryhippie · 01/07/2018 15:34

Thanks for the link Prawn all I can say is, what the actual fck???? I didn't know whether to get angry or cry reading that.
How f
cking dare they!!!!!
Well that's me peaked, all over again Angry Angry

Sarahconnor1 · 01/07/2018 15:34

Everyone coming is asked to help in the kitchen once at the festival. 20 or so gather for an hour and get to put our love into the food for everyone else

£225 for a ticket and your still dragged back into the kitchen. Also if you sneak in booze you will be kicked off site.

I'm sensing it's not my kind of thing, especially with the drums.

LassWiADelicateAir · 01/07/2018 15:26

How about ....

LassWiADelicateAir · 01/07/2018 15:25

We do have a noise restriction on the site, and are working on developing an on-going good relationship with our neighbours. Therefore drumming will be kept to a minimum and at certain times

How a minimum of none and never?

sexnotgender · 01/07/2018 15:21

Wow, I’m surprised they found 150 people crazy enough to go!

noeffingidea · 01/07/2018 15:07

So far she's sold 150 places and is confident the other 250 places will be sold. I honestly wouldn't hold your breath there, love.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 01/07/2018 15:05

Lass, I'm petty about that sort of detail too. If they're sloppy about that they'll likely be sloppy about other things too.

They certainly haven't used any precision of thought in deciding and defining who's welcome.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 01/07/2018 15:02

HungryHippie, here's an informative Michfest link to get you started.

LassWiADelicateAir · 01/07/2018 14:52

I know this is petty but-

If you have an additional dietary requirements outside of being Vegan, Gluten or Diary Free . It is "dairy: free and as this is written in English please do not use random capitalisation.

Please just advice us on the ‘Note To Seller’ section of the ticket sale that you will be bring a child, with details of the child’s name and age - it is "advise" and please see comment about random capitalisation.

We also wish to include Woman’s daughters, who have passed their Menarche - "women's daughters". How pleased the copywriter must have been to crowbar in "menarche" (no capital necessary)

Sarahconnor1 · 01/07/2018 14:48

I read that as anyone who identifies as a women is in, even if the person has a penis. Your out if you don't identify are a women, so trans men who may have a vagina isn't welcome neither are non binary folks with a male body.

Not sure if I could go as I don't identify as a women, I am guessing not. Confused
