You will probably not be surprised to hear that a woman who grew up in an abusive home environment and foster homes is assessed a HIGH RISK in spite of answering no to all the questions about wanting to be the opposite sex or hanging out with the opposite sex.

The could rename this "Test How Well You Conform to the Gender Hierarchy of Your Culture".

LankinMcElf · 01/07/2018 17:51

Well I’m a low risk which quite frankly is a huge relief 🙄 what a crock of shite!

grasspigeons · 01/07/2018 17:41

im just a medium risk, but I found the advice to do more girly stuff so I get on better with girls really useful. (I get on really well with girls - im not sure why it thinks I don't)

Shockers · 01/07/2018 17:41

I’m also apparently medium to high risk of gender identity disorder.

Which, quite frankly, is utter bollocks.

lovetheway · 01/07/2018 17:31

High risk - yes, I dislike how society sees my gender because... PATRIARCHY.

And I do get depressed about my biological role because... PATRIARCHY.

Hi, late to the party (been away for a lovely weekend), but wanted to apologise to Lass if you thought I was challenging your clothing decisions in a negative way, or being patronising, as I seem to have been scooped up in other's comments too.

Lass it was your comment, after the list of clothing, that most interested me:

I don't own any of those. Those are gender neutral clothes. I don't wear anything which is gender neutral which made me curious. As it seemed to imply that you actively steered away from wearing gender neutral clothes for a specific reason. As females, we're lucky enough to include what may be seen as 'gender neutral' (eg, trousers, gym leggings etc, without anyone judging us like men may be judged wearing sterotypical women's clothes).

I wasn't sure how you'd 'escape' clothing that is 'gender neutral' in your everyday life. But you've explained very well how that is. Of course you can walk in skirts, exercise in skirts, and I wasn't trying to deny that you could. Was really, truly, just genuinely interested in your point of view.

I definitely wasn't questioning your general choice of clothes for comfort and joy - just in the context of that statement in particular.

I do think females are much luckier than males in the spectrum of clothes we can wear without being judged (but seeing Hannah Gadsby's powerful documentary, not that big of a spectrum, really, depending on your outward appearance Sad )

EBearhug · 01/07/2018 11:19

What are "mannerisms of the opposite sex"?

There are an awful lot of assumptions made in this test, that you will just know what stereotypes they're on about.

iklboo · 01/07/2018 10:55

I answered 'no' to most of the questions and still got 'low to medium risk'.

There's far less taboo in women wearing 'Male' clothing. There's no secret thrill in me putting on a pair of jeans and a t shirt - and it's socially acceptable.

This is no more accurate than those 'what breed of dog are you' quizzes.

Belindabauer · 01/07/2018 10:22

Did the test and I am medium to high risk of being the wrong gender.
Just discussed it with dp whose exact words were " What a load of bollocks. "

OlennasWimple · 30/06/2018 23:36

What happened to teens taking "Which Spice Girl would be your BFF?" and "Which Backstreet Boy would be your true love?" quizzes?

Mossandclover · 30/06/2018 23:35

garam as you wish to use the correct terminology, it is called ‘gender incongruence’ as is classified as a ‘mental, behavioural or neurodevelopmental disorder.

Whisky2014 · 30/06/2018 23:24

I got low risk.

garam · 30/06/2018 23:20

You'll find most trans people agree this is bullshit, also there is no longer any such thing as 'gender identity disorder' the whole thing is based on a disordered understanding of gender identity, which is no longer valid.

Mossandclover · 30/06/2018 23:17

So basically if you object to the females roles and stereotypes imposed on you by society then you must be transgender? Hmm. Moreover if you suffer and mental health issues the these can be solved by switching genders...

AornisHades · 30/06/2018 23:17

Ffs. I just struggle to think of a single person I know who never ever appears in a pair of jeans or runners etc. That's all I'm saying. I don't have a comprehension or imagination problem and I never demanded to know why. That was someone else.
No need to pile in.
As I said I have a couple of dresses. And heels and jeans and t-shirts.

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 30/06/2018 23:14

Medium to high risk.

What a shit test. I like some typically female stuff and some typically male.

And the phrase 'broken home' boils my piss. My childhood home was not broken and neither is my children's. AngryAngryAngry

Your failure to comprehend why a person chooses to do things differently from you is an issue only you can sort out.
Neither Lass nor anyone else can stretch your mind to encompass the reality of women choosing to wear skirts.

Why is Lass being asked to justify what clothes she chooses to wear?

That’s what I find weird. Why does what another woman chooses to wear affect anyone else?

Lass you quoted me initially and I've just responded to you. Now you've flounced.

You don't know what my preferences are but I quite clearly indicated I wear clothes from across the spectrum. You exclude one entire area. I find that strange

You posted AornisHades- your preferences.

How do I answer that one? Yes I wear comfy clothes from the men's department. Am I embarrased? No

I have said several times I don't like trousers. They are uncomfortable. What is strange about excluding them? What on earth makes you think I should select clothes from across the spectrum if that spectrum has things I don't like, think are ugly, don't fit me and don't suit me.

You really should try "getting your head round" a few more things rather than dismissing another person's preference as "strange"

I loathe this type of nit-picking, policing and criticism of what other woman wear.

The silly question was funny because it was unanswerable from several posters' points of view although from mine from exactly the opposite stance. That was my point. It was amusing up to that point.

But then you and Pom come on with your "can't get my head round it" "strange" and expressions of wide eyed astonishment commenting on me and asking for explanations- which I have given.

I'm hiding this thread so if you care to post another patronising, narrow minded, judgemental reply. I won't see it.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/06/2018 13:10

I tripped over that question too because, OK, they probably think toy guys, swords etc "belong" to boys, but what about if it was my toy on account of my parents bought it for me?

It occurs to me that it's quite simple... those of us who reject the idea that there's any such thing as toys or clothes or interests which 'belong to the opposite sex' should indeed answer no to those questions. And thus, presumably be marked as 'low risk' of GID. Which if you believe you have a sex, a sexuality and an individual diverse set of interests and aptitudes is presumably correct.

iklboo · 30/06/2018 12:36

Are you curious about the anatomy of the opposite sex"

Guess doctors are screwed then.

AornisHades · 30/06/2018 12:34
