Aren't Lhasa Apso dogs?

Aren't Lhasa Apso dogs?

I actually just like a sainsburies teabag, brewed for 3-5 minutes, squeezed and with loads of milk!
I've tried tegley, PG tips, Yorkshire, clipper, fancy ones my parents buy from the farmshop, all the brands and sainsburies I think do the best tea bags.

I have a cherry Bakewell green tea and that's really nice! Or lemongrass and ginger that's also nice.

Waspnest · 28/06/2018 13:35

See, I feel that strongly about it!

Waspnest · 28/06/2018 13:34

Tea is vile, iced coffee is lush (but gives me reflux usually) and I'd be a richer, ruthlessly ambitious man because I wouldn't have to think about those pesky unpredictable perimenopausal heavy painful periods that require industrial levels of ibuprofen and sanitary towels.

Yorkshire tea. No bones about it.

TimeLady · 28/06/2018 11:50

Fruit teas are all about pretty packaging and a nice smell, but nothing like the real thing.

Personally, I think it's an unforgivable misappropriation of the word tea and should be stopped.

Twinings appear to agree;

Fruit and Herbal teas are really called infusions – and given there is a bit of confusion regarding infusions sometimes, we thought we'd clear it up a bit.

in case anyone feels the need to report me for fruitinfusionphobia.

"Don't understand the concept of tea at all - coffee all the way"

Are you arguing against tea's right to exist?

TransplantsArePlants · 28/06/2018 10:16

Can't be arsed to RTFT, but if anyone has mentioned Lhasa Apso or whatever that cigarette-ash-tasting tea is called, then I'm seriously offended and may go to the Other Place.

LeahJack · 28/06/2018 09:53

And I’d still drink bloody coffee.

LeahJack · 28/06/2018 09:52

I think I would probably be much as I am now except able to do more physically and a father rather than a mother. (And obviously having a different mother).

I think the only changes would be ones which were created by socialisation rather than in my essential personality. So I think I would probably spend less time on childcare, housework and personal appearance and less on my appearance. I also think I would feel I couldn’t be as expressive of my emotions. And I would probably feel like I could get away with being a twat more often because men get more leeway.

I don’t believe anything about me would change as I don’t believe there are pink and blue brains. But the way I behaved might change because I would have a different set of societal expectations to fit in to. That’s all.

Who sells Orange Pekoe tea? Reminds me of breakfast in a hotel in Sorrento nearly forty years ago.....

arranfan · 28/06/2018 09:44

If we're speaking up for tea, and bags because using tea leaves at work is a mess, then it's Barry's Gold (in the red box).

Cake, biscuits. Now, it might strike some of you as a hybridisation too far and I initially reacted that way but I can only recommend that you retain an open cake gob mind and consider this loaf cake.

Wild Yeast: Pain d'Epices

"There’s no question that this a very homely looking loaf, but the plain-Jane appearance belies its seductive nature. The flavor derives mainly from anise, complimented by mustard powder and cinnamon, and from honey. I’m going to be living and breathing that anise-mustard-cinnamon-honey combination for quite some time to come. I’m going to be sleeping with it and injecting it into my veins. If I run out, I’m going to be trading my first-born child for it. Really.

This a dense bread, and Malgieri suggests wrapping the loaf in foil for a day or two before serving, to make it more tender. That’s fine if you’re the patient type. Or you can just do what I did, and dip it in your coffee or tea for instant tenderizing; the bread is substantial enough to take it. You may never eat biscotti again."

She's right. And, I write this as an acclaimed baker of biscotti ('acclaimed' is understood as being limited to friends, family, sports clubs, colleagues and the odd hungry looking family on a train).

Why do anarchists drink herbal tea?

... because proper tea is theft.

JoyTheUnicorn · 28/06/2018 08:12

Tea and ginger nuts are a better pairing.
You can't dunk cake.
Well you can, but not as successfully as biscuits.

AngryAttackKittens · 28/06/2018 08:08

I don't understand, is cake and tea not an obvious, nigh even traditional pairing?

FermatsTheorem · 28/06/2018 08:07

Urban, at the risk of joining you in starting a good old fashioned flame war, you are so right. Cake all the way (non tea drinker here). Though I suppose perhaps we could be live-and-let-live. If tea enthusiasts want to discuss tea, that's fine by me, so long as they don't make me drink it too.

JoyTheUnicorn · 28/06/2018 08:07

Drinking red label Aldi right now.
Weak and milky. Sometimes I accidentally forget the teabag and I don't notice.

Serfisafleur · 28/06/2018 08:03

I had the most heavenly tea experience many moons ago, I was at a music festival it was late (/early) bleary eyed and sat on the floor chatting in a group. Someone bought me a chai tea that I didn't ask for. I'd never had chai tea before. I thought it was amazing and just so soothing.
It's my favourite even now, especially vanilla chai by Pukka teas.

I can't do coffee. Only tea for me.

Urbanbeetler · 28/06/2018 07:47

Threads like this simply astound me. You are the most perverse and sick bunch of people on the internet.

Tea? Why talk about tea?

There is cake to be discussed and you lot focus on tea?

Fuck me.

JurgenKloppsCat · 28/06/2018 07:43

I’m not a huge fan of tea, but we had mint tea on holiday in Morocco and it was delicious. Oddly satisfying in the heat. The locals called it ‘desert whiskey ‘.

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 28/06/2018 06:49

Do you lot brew it the proper way - five minutes and then a proper good straining or are yes all a munch of soft southern jessies?

Well, I watched a programme with Victoria Wood about tea, and it set off a lightbulb.

I spend most of my time abroad, where I can't get British Tea (and it's all one cup bags) and for years I was confused by how weak it was - I'd wait like 2 minutes (which is unheard of with a UK teabag). Then finally I was somewhere where there were instructions on the box, and it turned out I was supposed to be waiting 3-5 minutes (!) - now that's fine for a pot of tea, but unacceptable for a teabag in a cup in my opinion.

And it turns out, that tea technology has been applied, and the tea blended for the British market is specially put together to brew quickly, because we (nearly) all make it straight in the mug these days, whereas other countries haven't got with that program yet.

And that's what I know about tea (well, and the difference between green, white and black tea, but that blew my mind)
