A temporary cessation of hostilities

I know how serious all this is – but there may be no harm in a little light relief from time to time.

So - has anyone else found themselves watching the football and fantasising about a game between Trans Rights Activists (or whatever they’d like to call themselves) and … shall we say … a Mumsnet Team of Everyday Radical Feminists? (Or maybe a team called Spartacus?) After all, there was a temporary cessation of hostilities at Christmas 1914 during which English and German troops apparently played football with each other.

Here are some extracts from how the commentary might go:

“That was a dangerous run by Munroe Bergdorf, neatly blocked at the last minute by AngryAttackKittens.”

“Keeper Jane Fae has put the knitting down in the corner of the net as Datun steps up to take the penalty.”

“SwearyGodmother has been shown a yellow card for something she said to the referee.”

“Bowlofbabelfish, Spontaneousgiventime, and LangCleg are in the wall as Paris Lees gets ready to take the free kick.”

“We can see how important the preparation was, with R0wantrees briefing the team on the opposition’s tactics in previous matches.”

“The referee is running over to an incident involving the realposieparker and Lily Madigan.”

You can paint your own mental pictures of what the spectators might look like!

Okay. Back to reality.

DJLippy we can put it on the #ManFriday blog if you like?

DJLippy · 22/06/2018 00:35

Finished editing something resembling a blog post. I don't have one - does anyone wanna host it?

ErrolTheDragon · 22/06/2018 00:32

Somehow it seems right and proper that a football-themed MN thread should morph into shopping.Grin

ScarletBegonias · 21/06/2018 23:57

It may be that at first it only offers you the default style (I forget which one it was but I think it cost £12.99?) in black size 16. What I did was save that in my basket then it let me 'go in again' and choose from different styles, colours and sizes. I saved the one I really wanted in my basket and deleted the original choice (which certainly wouldn't have fitted.)

So it's possible you only get the choice after you've already selected the default. Does that make sense?

But this isn't supposed to be a shopping thread and I'm rambling and should go to bed.

ScarletBegonias

Ohhhh ok I'll see tomorrow from the pc. Thanks.

ScarletBegonias · 21/06/2018 23:14

The default seemed to be black up to size 16. But you can change that - and going for the unisex tee shirt (cheaper at £9.99) gave me a choice of big man chest sizes in lots of different colours.

Bastards only offered me up to a size 16.
I mean like wtaf? Can we harass the site because they are fatphobic?

Or should we all self id as a size 6? Seems to be all the rage.........,,,,..,,,,

Or is it?

ScarletBegonias · 21/06/2018 22:57

It may be harder from a tablet or phone but I just followed your link on a PC and it offered me a screen full of different styles and colours, all with the same design on them. I clicked on what I wanted and it then asked what size I preferred (a big manly XL!)

I assume it all worked because the email of confirmation seems to describe what I ordered accurately enough.

How did you manage that Scarlet? It’s a right pain setting up new styles and colours every time!

ScarletBegonias · 21/06/2018 22:40

I thought at first that the tee shirts were just one colour and rather limited in sizes. But when I came to order mine I found I had a great choice of style, colour and size, all with the same wording on.

A nice big unisex indigo blue one on should be on its way to me tomorrow.

Only if they come in pink.

R0wantrees · 21/06/2018 13:23

No, was thinking more of some well known players who may not be aware how well appreciated their football skills are or realised that there's some excellent commentary.

Ereshkigal · 21/06/2018 13:20

To the other teams? Grin

R0wantrees · 21/06/2018 13:13
