Why do men think they can just piss anywhere?

We have a bus stop opposite our house, on a green. Today my DS and I were walking across the green and a bus pulled up, a man got off and as soon as the bus drove off he just stood there and had a wee as DS and I walked past!

Why do men think their need to piss is so important that they can just do it in public and we've all got to just put up with it?! He's not the first man that I've seen pissing in full view recently.

It makes me so cross!

I watched a sketch show a while ago where a couple of women went into a town centre on a Friday night and got talking to men who had just come out of clubs and pubs and were pissing in the street. One of them makes out like she really needs to pee, and says to these guys “oh it’s so easy for you, you can just go wherever you want can’t you?” And the men puff out their chests and proudly agree that they can. She then hands her kebab to her mate, squats slightly, and just “pees”, right in front of them. The horrified look on the men’s faces was pretty amusing.

Someone will be along in a minute to declare in an injured tone that not all men do this, and her husband and son/s certainly don't.

I found a massive shit outside the office I work in the other morning. I'm willing to bet it wasn't a woman who did that.

AdaColeman · 19/06/2018 10:27

Norther We had a French workman who regularly would walk along the upper corridor, downstairs, outside walk the length of the house again to go and pee by a nearby river.... He was working on shelving in the toilet /bathroom! Grin

It's the downside to a spell of dry weather - the stench of piss in corners.

I used to live in a tenement on a main street with several bars. Clearly our door was considered a public urinal. It would pool under the door into the corridor. If someone didn't shut the door properly, they'd come inside for some privacy and piss up the wall.

DustyMaiden · 19/06/2018 10:18

I was on an underground station when a woman dropped her jeans and urinated on the platform.

SamHeughansLeftEyebrow · 19/06/2018 10:14

Lifts and stairwells in carparks too. Vile stinking places where men seem to feel they are entitled to just piss between floors. I have had a lift stop and the occupant is just turning round zipping up again while I am waiting with my DS. Suffice to say we took the stairs, but they frequently reek of stale male urine too.

Actually the spitting is a good point to make because it is a cultural thing. In china men and women spit equally which shows the weeing in public yhing is a controllable cultural thing rather than unavoidable nature.

Norther · 19/06/2018 09:49

I second that about France. In terms of open air weeing we have it relatively good in this country.

Norther · 19/06/2018 09:44

I also used to sleep rough and the number of people who used to pee and poop near me was just incredible. A guy peed on me once.

BingTheButterflySlayer · 19/06/2018 09:44

It's socialisation though isn't it? Friend on FB has her husband eternally proudly posting photos (thankfully shots taken from behind at least, not "action" shots) of his kid "watering the plants" - there must be at least a couple of shots every fortnight of this ilk, coupled with a million #justlikehisdad #prouddaddy #makingmemories type hashtags with it. (It's not my friend posting these - her husband's a fucking dickhead and tags her in all of it so we all have to see it)

Mind you we had a guy shit in a takeaway carton and leave it in a taxi office here over the weekend so a piddle seems quite tame!

I used to work in very busy public toilets as an attendant. The differences between mens and womens toilets is incredible. Womens toilets are much much busier, use tonnes of paper, a lot of which ends up on floor so they are really messy. But the mens! Oh my god the filthy bastards. Poo smeared everywhere, pee all over the walls, various disgusting fluids all over the surfaces. Bear in mind these were daytime only toilets, fully attended at extremely busy tourist attractions. I am talking daily occurrences not occasional abominations.

Omgineedanamechange · 19/06/2018 09:40

Both DD's work at an upmarket family friendly pub. Checking loos and cleaning is part of duties. Both have had men walk in and pee in front of them. Not sure the one who said "Don't mind me" redeemed himself in anyway against the one who didn't

Im a hygiene inspector working in various food factory’s, I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been stood besid o e of those long trough type urinals checking the cleanliness and some bloke had whipped his dick out and pissed right beside me. The cleaners tell me they’ve had blokes pissing in the troughs as they’ve been cleaning them.

A guy I was at uni with was kicked out a few weeks before we graduated. He worked in a bar in town and had been fined for pissing on a wall across the street from the bar, after he'd finished work for the night. Unfortunately for him, he then got caught pissing in the same place again, a few weeks later. Because the wall in question belonged to a church, he ended up in the local paper and was deemed to have 'brought the university into disrepute'.

Why not just piss at work before leaving? Why wait until you've just walked out of the door to do it? And after getting fined by police the first time, why on earth would you do it again? That really is saying 'I'll do what the hell I like'.

Roomba · 19/06/2018 09:24

I drove past a mum assisting her young DS having a wee against a bush next to a bus stop the other week. Guessing he'll grow up thinking it's ok.

I had an awful feeling that it would have been me, until I read the next to a bus stop bit. I always make DS try to hold on until we reach an actual loo first though, and it that fails I don't just have him do it in the street next to bus stops! He has a mild bladder issue so he goes from not needing to go to needing to go right now occasionally. Not all the time though!

It's the smell that gets me, some mornings you walk through town and it reeks of male piss!

hackmum · 19/06/2018 09:16

At this stage, I feel it's important to say...Not all men.

But of course some of them do, and it is really gross. Someone pointed out to me recently that central London smells of men's piss, and it's true.

Gingerninj · 19/06/2018 09:14

I was sitting in the car parked outside a service station once. This man parks next to me, gets out and starts pissing on the bushes. Its a service station, there's toilets inside where people dont have to see you.

NonSuchFun · 19/06/2018 09:13

I think a large motorway service station loo area is different to the somewhat confined space of a small men's loo in a pub. The girls are unmistakably young teens, I think they deserve more respect.
Luckily they were less huffy about it than me so you can put it down to over protective mother if you want to.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 19/06/2018 09:07

NonSuch: I think this is normal isn't it? At motorway service stations you sometimes see signs saying "female operatives cleaning this area" outside the male toilets.
I'm sure they all don't use the cubicles.

NonSuchFun · 19/06/2018 09:00

In the urinal, in full view while they were cleaning the sink area. They could have chosen to shut themselves away in the cubicle. I think it was incredibly disrespectful of them.

daimbars · 19/06/2018 08:59

The spitting shows up male entitlement even more imo. There is absolutely no reason for a man to do this any more than a woman but you don't see women doing it.

Lichtie · 19/06/2018 08:49

Nonsuchfun... Men peeing in male toilets is hardly a disgrace. If the toilets are open they are open. Did they really pee in front of them or did they pee in the urinal?

Elise... That is disgusting, can't believe you kept your cool.

Takfujuimoto · 19/06/2018 08:48

My lips curl at the street spitting, I genuinely feel queasy when I see it happen.

My neighbour is a 50-60 yr old man and was nice enough to say hello too until a few months ago when he got out of a car obviously steaming drunk and then proceeded to piss all over my drive way instead of walking up his and into his house to use the toilet.

I am increasingly finding it hard to mask my contempt for mankind as a whole and it scares me somewhat because I have sons and I don't want to tar them all with the same brush, but god it's hard not to sometimes.

daimbars · 19/06/2018 08:47

It's rank. Male piss smells revolting too, and they seem to target bus stops. Disgusting.

Lizzyweb12 · 19/06/2018 08:42

It’s absolutely disgusting and unnecessary! This really gets to me too as I unfortunately used to live about a mile away from a football ground when I was younger, so on match days they’d come past us on the way into town and use our back garden wall as a toilet. Didn’t matter that it was in the middle of a residential neighbourhood and kids would play in that area, no. Just because it was a slightly concealed corner out of the way, and over summer the smell was awful and my mother had to go out with buckets of water and disinfectant to clear it, usually by going to the end of the garden and tipping it over the fences whether they were there or not. No one blamed her.
