someone should answer for this

OP posts:

Ah, just seen MNHQ post. Well fair enough in that the parent could sue.

Let me put it another way: to put your child on a path to lifelong medication, surgery and sterility is probably not in their best interest.

Macareaux · 16/06/2018 22:31

I was deleted!

Wracking my brain to think what I said but pretty sure it was along the lines that it's child abuse to trans kids (others have said it and not been deleted) and that every single story I have ever read about trans kids has relied on stereotypes, which indeed is true.

No email from MNHQ either.

Evening everyone. We think some confusion may have arisen over why we've deleted posts on this thread.

Just to be clear, we have deleted any reported posts which contain reference to the parent in this news story being guilty of child abuse or Munchausen by proxy.

We're all for open discussion on this topic but accusations of abuse are a step too far and not in the spirit of Mumsnet. We hope that clears things up.

MrsWooster · 16/06/2018 22:27

I thought kids in U.K. Couldn't be given blockers under 16? See Dr Webberley getting in trouble for prescribing them privately..?

fascinated · 16/06/2018 22:25

Exactly, Floral

Parents are not friends

FloralBunting · 16/06/2018 22:23

Yes, it is entirely right to listen to what your young child wants and do it, no matter how physically damaging or costly it is to them. As long as the child is 'happy' we have no responsibility as parents to guide them through a difficult world with the benefit of our experience of being unhappy with our bodies or the gender roles we felt forced into. A parent's role is simply to acquiesce to every request with no thought about the consequences.

GaspingShark · 16/06/2018 22:20

This stood out for me
" Gabriel texted me from his dad's house. He said 'do you know what LGBT is?' And I didn't know what it was. He said 'well I'm one of them,' and I asked him if he meant he was trans and he said he was "

The mother jumped straight to suggesting trans and ignored completely the possibility the child could be gay. Talk about leading.

It's a newspaper article. In The Daily Mail. Have a little think about that.

Giddy99 · 16/06/2018 22:19

I also do research and know how to read research papers, but I think personal experience of going to a gender clinic with a child is far better,

DistanceCall · 16/06/2018 22:14

I hated being a girl. When I was little, I wanted to be a boy (like many little girls, I believe). I was a tomboy, hated girlie things, hated things being done to my hair, hated anything related to makeup and glitter and loathed pink. I would have much preferred to be a boy.

I'm a happy heterosexual cis-woman now.

Doing "gender interventions" because a little girl (or even a teenager) is unhappy with their gender is obscene, immoral, and damaging. It may be that this child grows up and decides that they prefer to be a man. But let them wait and see and think and reflect.

Gender and sexuality are difficult things for anyone - you can't fix them in stone medically at such an immature age.

mancheeze · 16/06/2018 22:10

Stop reading the mail and other such works of fantasy and check the real facts out.

I'm a dual citizen of America and Canada. I read things like Title IX and the BC courts. I read the judgement of Van Rape Relief V Nixon where an autogynephilic biological male wanted to be a rape crisis counselor in a woman-only shelter. Women won that case btw.

I read the current appeal by Gloucester County in Virginia where a biological female Gavin Grimm is being told that Title IX protects by SEX, not some empty and meaningless concept 'gender identity' and 'gender presentation.'

I'm a psych grad whose done research, so I know how to read research papers.

I don't get my information from newspapers.

Read a Grade 6 biology textbook.

nauticant · 16/06/2018 22:03

Yes, now I agree with that doctorcuntybollocks. Even those who have adhered to the gender identity ideology and the way along only have to say "oh, now actually..." to be denounced as heretics.

doctorcuntybollocks · 16/06/2018 22:03

Fame at last.

Respect!

doctorcuntybollocks · 16/06/2018 22:02

Ha! Ruby. That was me.

UpstartCrow · 16/06/2018 22:01

Supporting healthy children being sterilised is not something I'm ever going to do.

doctorcuntybollocks · 16/06/2018 22:01

Mumsnet will end up painted into a very tight corner and find that their nice new friends aren't so nice after all.

RubyShooFan · 16/06/2018 22:01

This thread reminds me of a poem I saw on here months ago! I can’t remember who by, but I’ve chuckled at it ever since.

‘I like to take my cue,
From children as young as two,
It’s the liberal thing to do,
My brain is made of poo’

nauticant · 16/06/2018 21:58

I actually disagree. I think mumsnet are fighting hard but don't know where to draw the line and are drawing the line in such a giving way that it'll take the line being overrun several times (with them re-drawing it each) that eventually they'll realise they should have stood their ground to support women and girls quite some while back.

Giddy99 · 16/06/2018 21:57

mancheeze

No child is being mutilated again that is showing ignorance about what happens at a gender clinic,
Do you think the family will take the lad into the clinic and hey presto, Gender surgery will take place,
Children at 12 need to be listened to and not patronised by parents.
Stop reading the mail and other such works of fantasy and check the real facts out.

Gileswithachainsaw · 16/06/2018 21:56

I cannot believe there have been deletions no one has said anything that warrants it.. .

We were all this child. Hating pink and dresses and what society expected of us. We all spent years embarrassed and distressed at our developing or lack of developing bodies and it takes til adulthood to realise the problem isn't you but everyone else.

Most of us woukd have been transed if we had been growing up now not when we did.

I think someone high up at mumsnet is fully on board with the trans agenda. This seems to go beyond corporate amorality.

busyboysmum · 16/06/2018 21:54

No idea. I have no email either. Nothing I said was untrue or in any way abusive.

Dark times indeed.

PointlessTV · 16/06/2018 21:52

I quoted someone who has been deleted. I have no email from MNHQ, is that one of my three strikes gone?
