According to KateMumsnet:

"We also thought it might be useful to clarify our thinking about general terms for trans people. Having said that TIM is not okay, it seems a bit illogical to allow other terms which hang upon natal sex."

Well that's that really, isn't it.

We are all being told to pretend that men have become women.

Am I going to be deleted/banned for this post?

Doesn't work for me, either, Eresh.

Sorry snappity. Nice try.

Hyppolyta · 15/06/2018 13:48

Snappity I identify as a brain surgeon.

You have no reason to believe Im not a brain surgeon.

But Im guessing youd want to check that out before I opened your skull. Correct?

Because me saying Im a surgeon does not make me so, even if you believe it.

Ereshkigal · 15/06/2018 13:47

Or for us to treat every member as the sex they say they are which is clearly the preference. So no more of this "trans women are not women".

Nope. Doesn't work for me.

Ereshkigal · 15/06/2018 13:46

I think we can say no to both of those actually, snappity

Yep. What an odd false dichotomy this person is trying to create.

Snappity · 15/06/2018 13:45

We arent after banning males from mumsnet.
Theres some great blokes on here.

Indeed. Happy for them to send in birth certificates too.

Or for us to treat every member as the sex they say they are which is clearly the preference. So no more of this "trans women are not women". Equality

BoreOfWhabylon · 15/06/2018 13:45

@Baroquehavoc Context is everything, but if a biological male uses his biologically male body to murder or assault women or children, then I will no longer afford such persons the courtesies I would normally extend. No.

Liam Huntley, for example, is a child-murdering piece of scum who was, is and always will be a man.

BeyondSceptical · 15/06/2018 13:45

How does sending birth certificates prove you are that person, anyway. Didn't think that through did you Grin I could send my dads in, doesn't make me a man in his fifties. Or one of the DCs maybe. Oo, the choices are endless...

ToeToToe · 15/06/2018 13:44

"So you agree that anyone who says she is a woman is a woman?"*

No. Next question?

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 15/06/2018 13:43

Out of respect, I call people what they want to be called. So, if they are called Jonathan but want to go by Jon thats cool. And if they are Jonathan and want to go by Caroline that is cool too. No one treats me like I am a little girl, but I was one once. Life is complex, it is also short and we are all brainwashed. We are all people.

Nobody knows if anyone here is really what they say they are.

So you agree that anyone who says she is a woman is a woman?

ToeToToe · 15/06/2018 13:42

There's some great GC blokes on here.

Ereshkigal · 15/06/2018 13:41

Picasso Grin

Hyppolyta · 15/06/2018 13:41

Snappity this is an annonymous forum.

No one knows what sex you are, unless you say. Although the use of language can make it obvious.

We arent after banning males from mumsnet.
Theres some great blokes on here.

Mumsnet is not a sex segregated space.

Ereshkigal · 15/06/2018 13:41

There is no reason to send in birth certificates as MN is not a female sex segregated space. There are many people who claim to be things they are not.

dolorsit · 15/06/2018 13:40

I'm starting to wonder if a certain poster is actually a parody or fifth columnist.

Just to be clear not referring to Snappity.

BeyondSceptical · 15/06/2018 13:40

I already said I could send the 30-odd year old original, you ignored whether you can do the same though.

Picassospaintbrush · 15/06/2018 13:40

Hilarious tweet on that Glinner thread

I feel like Chicken Tonight, does that make me Chicken Tonight?

ToeToToe · 15/06/2018 13:39

I think we can say no to both of those actually, snappity Grin

Snappity · 15/06/2018 13:38

So how many of those who say it is ridiculous are prepared to send Mumsnet your birth certificate if I arrange it with them? Or would you rather just have the courtesy to treat everyone here as a woman if she says she is. I am happy with either approach.

But allowing some people to say they are women and accepting that while refusing to accept it when others say they are is discrimination, stereotyping and the complete opposite of feminism.

Yay for Caroline!

Snappity - no members here have to show any evidence of anything. It's an anonymous internet forum called Mumsnet.

dolorsit · 15/06/2018 13:35

But snappity you don't need to be female to post here.

Nobody knows if anyone here is really what they say they are.
