New guidelines - we aren't allowed to refer to natal sex

According to KateMumsnet:

"We also thought it might be useful to clarify our thinking about general terms for trans people. Having said that TIM is not okay, it seems a bit illogical to allow other terms which hang upon natal sex."

Well that's that really, isn't it.

We are all being told to pretend that men have become women.

Am I going to be deleted/banned for this post?

So you have no problem with the trans widows talking freely herevon mumsnet, about their trauma, however is best to heal their suffering?

AngryAttackKittens · 15/06/2018 23:41

The comment about MN not being the right place for the transwidows to seek support came across so badly that what, 10 or so people already said so in increasingly vehement ways? Not sure how many have to say it before it occurs to you that maybe they really did think you were being colossally insensitive, Supermatch.

R0wantrees · 15/06/2018 23:37

Fascinating to read SMG.

I can't relate to what you've described at all but I'm always interested to hear new things.

SupermatchGame · 15/06/2018 23:35

Happy to believe you wrote it badly...

Rufus did it really come across that badly? If so then yes, sorry if I inferred that, of course it wasn't what I meant. I didn't mean to imply that there was equivalence between physical violence and misgendering. I am also not suggesting mumsnet isn't the place for traumatised women. Sorry if it came across like that.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 15/06/2018 23:32

You only have friends that agree with you SMG?

Thats explaining A LOT!!

AngryAttackKittens · 15/06/2018 23:30

Ah, but that only works if you think that the transwidows threads were being used to harass people (they weren't). In terms of "misgendering", I'd say that anyone arguing that a women trying to escape a relationship that's making her miserable must be very careful about using the pronouns that the person making her miserable prefers lacks both empathy and decency.

SupermatchGame · 15/06/2018 23:30

You don't describe the threads of rape and murder as repellant

Of course they are repellant. There are other people on those threads describing them as repellant and I rarely post agreement with people here. Not even about trans issues. I don't come to this particular forum to read or post about the views of people I agree with. I have friends for that.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 15/06/2018 23:29

Exactly how pratchet has explained in her latest post

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 15/06/2018 23:29

SMG

that original post of yours really didnt read well at all

Its still on here and as much as you would like to pretend i have misconstrued it on purpose i really didnt

Happy to believe you wrote it badly...but attempting to defend it except by saying 'sorry, i did not mean to infer ......' is again coming over really badly

Pratchet · 15/06/2018 23:27

Oh we do. I know exactly what you said. You suggested mumsnet wasn't the place for a trans widows thread, a place where abused and traumatised women come to share and heal. You come here, to tell us that, instead of condemning threats of rape and murder.
#weseeyou

SupermatchGame · 15/06/2018 23:24

And you think your time is better spent suggesting that mumsnet is not a place for traumatised women,

Oops Pratchet no I didn't suggest that at all. I was suggesting mumsnet is not the place for misgendering or harassing trans people.

But did you see what you did there? As usual you reconstruct my words to lead to a conclusion that I never drew.

Those extremists are breaking the law by making threats. Most of them are easy to ignore. Just don't follow their twitters. Mumsnet is not so easy to ignore because thousands of women are here for lots of other reasons.

We see you

I wish you did. But you don't.

Pratchet · 15/06/2018 23:17

You don't describe the threads of rape and murder as repellant Hmm

SupermatchGame · 15/06/2018 23:15

R0wantrees

I can confirm that I said I find the "calls here to repeal the GRA so that trans people can't change their legal sex cruel, oppressive and repellant"

'Calls' refers to the language used, not the people.

It's a strange question from you though. I would have thought you have the intelligence to see that without having to ask.

JoanSummers · 15/06/2018 22:51

Hey Mumsnet, just to add - Dana Lane Taylor, and Sarah "suck my formaldehyde pickled balls" Brown, etc - these are the people you are prioritising and protecting over and above the women who are actually here filling your site with humorous, supportive and intelligent content, and by doing so paying your bills and puting food in your mouths, and providing you with the credibility you are foolishly pissing away.

Where does reality factor in?

I see no problem with reality Grin Grin Grin

JoanSummers · 15/06/2018 22:46

Here is Dana Lane Taylor, "miss_sudo", who has detransitioned back to David. Not sure if I'm more likely to get deleted for calling them Dana, David, He or She, what fun the new rules are! This is the non-female behind Theterfs.com.

No i think youre right there lastgirl

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 15/06/2018 22:37

Rufus, I would forget about it. These people are mentally ill. It is very sad and I feel for them but the fact is they simply don't have the capability to understand normality. Very sad.

JoanSummers · 15/06/2018 22:34

"The terfs" site was started by non-female TRA Dana Lane Taylor who was completely obsessed with Cathy Brennan. Taylor had quite obvious and severe mental health problems (they spoke about them often) and they used multiple twitter accounts and names to harass many different feminist women, particularly targetting lesbians. At one point Taylor was actually friendly with Brennan but from my recollection CB distanced herself when they had a major disagreement over the cotton ceiling (CB was horrified by it) and when she cut Taylor off they basically went full strength rejected male. Taylor was central to some really nasty shit aimed at women, harassment that began on twitter and continued offline. DLT was close to fellow non-female TRA Sophia Photos ("Potatoes") who claimed that homosexuality was transphobic, non-female grifter TRA Laurelai Bailey who has been accused of multiple rapes and sexual assaults and allegedly pimped out their own wife, and non-female TRA Cristan Williams of the Transadvocate. Bailey, Williams, and Taylor are three of the main TRAs who took the term "terf" and exploded it across the internet, bullshitting all the while that it had been coined by radical feminists ourselves, and spreading the incredible propaganda that "terfs" are responsible for the deaths of 50000+ "trans women" because (they say) radical feminist Janice Raymond allegedly singlehandedly stopped their access to any healthcare in the US.

TLDR - the site "the terfs", like the transadvocate (both of which I think are now controlled by Cristan Williams) was set up by a non-female TRA to spread propaganda and target specific women for harassment and defamation.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 15/06/2018 22:28

Bet that goes...

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 15/06/2018 22:28

Talk about showing your hand

Its almost as if they thought 'ooohhh I complained about transphobia and got some mean words banned, lets see what else i can do'

I will see if i can explain it simply to them

Sweetheart, listen to auntie rufus carefully, it was a coincidence...it was not your complaints to mumsnet that made them change their policy. I know it seems like that but you arent magic. Is that ok sweetie?

thebewilderness · 15/06/2018 22:17

It seems to be another reminder that transgender advocates view women's rights to be antithetical to transgender rights and any discussion or promotion of women's rights to be hate speech.

Pratchet · 15/06/2018 22:12

Just so stark - the disgusting violent threats...
Oh - and the suggestion that we hand over personal details

Talk about showing your hand

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 15/06/2018 22:09

Did gibberty change their name to snappity?

Oh goodness

There was me thinking they would get in like a house on fire Grin

R0wantrees · 15/06/2018 22:04

Indeed Bewilderness... from the recommended (by two NUS officers) site 'The Terfs', I read:

"TERF Position on Trans Equality
For decades, TERFs have sought to legislate trans people out of existence. Moreover, they work to oppose trans equality measures, infiltrate trans-inclusive feminist spaces, work with anti-gay groups to target trans kids and collaborate with anti-trans extremists who advocate bombing US targets."
