How will we know if we have lost good women?

I fear we will lose some of our strongest most vibrant voices, torn down by the current wordspeak policies..... Can we keep a record here of those we lose? I do NOT want to forget them.

I thought it was so telling that the GC would have happily kept all language (even the abhorrent Cis and Terf) ... while the trans-allies wanted to curtail as much speech as they possibly could....

To all strong GC voices - Please DO NOT leave us - your voice counts for more here than on any other forum.... Mumsnet is watched by the world and will be responsible for our keeping women and girls safe .... even if you have to clip your wings a little to get your message across, please hang on in here ... IT IS SO IMPORTANT

What happened today on MN with the new policy is a signal that women have to SPEAK MORE about this, not less.

I agree.

But I don't think MN is going to let us do that here.

I feared this outcome and it looks like it will come to pass...

Sheila Jeffreys just said at the WNTT event that MN is a commercial enterprise and is shutting down our language.

She also said this shows the hetero patriarchy is strong.

I don't know how long I'll be here for. I've been on MN for a couple years on and off. If I can't speak biological truth which is directly related to the truth about women's and girls lives then I won't stay here.

What happened today on MN with the new policy is a signal that women have to SPEAK MORE about this, not less.

Are you implying something about my alcohol consumption, Rufus?

(May or may not be true, depends on the day)

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 13/06/2018 21:13

Oooh gosh

Lots of grins

I may be coming across as a tad excitable

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 13/06/2018 21:13

Everyone needs to check into the pub everyday Grin

Not the real pub angry Grin

We'll do a roll call Grin

AngryAttackKittens · 13/06/2018 21:11

You won't know what happened, people will just vanish one by one and you'll never know why. Which is about as good a commentary on how "gender" actually works as it gets, honestly.

DancingLedge · 13/06/2018 21:10

Yep, what Terry said

Bowl Can I just say how much I love your science based fabulousness - I'm in no way a science bod and have learned so much from you.

Datun on a thread is like Galadriel arriving and making everything okay...

And Lang and Eresh and sweary Assigned and Beachcomber and the wonderful Baracker who says everything I want to say and lots of things I didn't know I wanted to say and says them perfectly and thebewilderness for The Rules and all the others on here who have taught me so much and whose names I can't think of right now due to over emotions and over indulgence in Dark&Stormies....feeling a bit embarrassed at all this gushing now!

As you were Grin

Since Spartacus I feel like the tide has turned a bit on here, but the new guidance feels a lot like censorship again. I’m all for being respectful and fair, but the language we (and they) are using is out there for all to use. I don’t care if someone calls me a TERF, in fact many of us have embraced it because it’s true, even if meant as an insult.

I really hope MN are able to come down on the side of women and girls. If they don’t who will?

Theblueplanet · 13/06/2018 21:00

bowlofbablefish you are most definitely a good 'un.

There are so many of you indefatigable and knowledgeable women. It is a pleasure to read what you all have to say. I am amazed at how the posters here can so succinctly post what I am tentatively feeling my way around.

Bowlofbabelfish · 13/06/2018 20:52

Not sure if I count as a good un but I’ll keep posting. I’ve never said anything on here I wouldnt say irl, I stand by my opinions, I don’t think anything I post Is personally abusive and I try to play the ball not the man.

At the same time, I’m a stickler for science so I fully expect a ban coming my way.

Good idea to keep a list.
