I suppose at least that one has the courage of their convictions ?? Confused

StickyStuffRemover · 11/06/2018 18:47

Worth pointing out that these are not fringe opinions among TRAs. This charmer has 17,000 twitter followers & openly spouts similar views.

The thing is, you can't believe in gender identities and self-ID and not think Ian Huntley is a woman if Ian Huntley says he is a woman. If you ringfence one, you ringfence all.

This is what self-ID is.

And even the zealots can see that Ian Huntley isn't a good look. Ergo, they say "didn't happen" rather than choose between refuting the entire ideology or openly saying Ian Huntley is as much a woman as any of you cunty types.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 11/06/2018 18:25

That guy's tweet - as quoted in Guido - says something like 'I'm sorry you feel it is appropriate to force trans women into male prisons where they will be in danger from other inmates.'

I don't really know where to start with a person who could say that directly referencing the case of a man who killed two ten year old girls, most probably for sexual reasons.

Where's your ability to think critically on the most basic level about what safeguarding is for and who needs safeguarding from whom?

Sarahconnor1 · 11/06/2018 18:02

But it's easier to disbelieve isn't It? Firstly, its hard to believe that any reasonable person would go into bat for the likes of Huntley, especially people linked to a major political party. Secondly, if you start to believe it, it changes the way you see the world, and not in a good way.

Empress

Nic Williams did a good job.

TransplantsArePlants · 11/06/2018 17:18

Sunset Yes

And a lot of people are 'seeing them'. Good!

SunsetBeetch · 11/06/2018 17:00

Even if the story itself is not true, the people falling over themselves to look woke by defending Huntley's right to be a woman and have a new name are very real.

SunsetBeetch · 11/06/2018 16:58

I suppose they could be jgrobinson and are using this to make a point?

ScarletBegonias · 11/06/2018 13:10

McGregor blocked me very quickly so I'm unable to see him develop his argument that TERFs are sock puppets.

EmpressOfSpartacus · 11/06/2018 13:09

Link to Nic Williams & Julia Hartley-Brewer discussing this on Talk Radio this morning.

McGregor has protected his tweets. So he doesnt have the courage of his convictions after all.

He is getting a pasting on Twitter. Which is excellent

'their' = 'they're' (thank God this site is anonymous, I'd never get any editing work...)

flowersonthepiano · 11/06/2018 12:41

So, we appear to have the LibDem position. I would be very interested to hear how Labour and the Conservatives feel about deadnaming Huntley. I imagine the responses might be more pragmatic, but the LibDems position is at least consistent with support for Self-ID.

Anyone who says Huntley cannot declare his own gender is anti self-ID, unless their proposing caveats where someone else gets a say over which sex shower you use.

Theswaggyotter · 11/06/2018 12:32

That is quite astonishing -and this is exactly why self id is such a dangerous idea

EmpressOfSpartacus · 11/06/2018 12:23

@SpygirlUK, the one who Xyr reported, has quite a lot to say about it. twitter.com/SpygirlUK/with_replies

ToeToToe · 11/06/2018 12:15

Alisdair Calder McGregor - is quite clearly a twat - who cares not whether women are put at risk as long as he can virtuously signal his incredibly uber tolerant liberal credentials.

There's a special place in hell for men like him - who would put a child-killer's "gender identity" above women's safety.

MillyTheKid · 11/06/2018 12:10

*There is the woman herself saying that her account was restricted for the deadnaming.

Why are you so very unwilling to acknowledge this, Milly?*

For the same reasons stated before. I don't blindly swallow what someone on Twitter says. It could be true but who knows at the moment?

jgrobinson · 11/06/2018 12:09

The weird thing is that the twitter account Xyrcoups that reported Spygirl for misgendering Mx Huntley was generally considered to be a parody of a transactivist and not the real thing.

EmpressOfSpartacus · 11/06/2018 12:06

The comments under the article are encouraging too.

Pratchet · 11/06/2018 12:03

I'm glad guido saw that

In another triumph, the Lib Dems make Guido Fawkes by not only criticising those 'dead naming' Ian Huntley but also explicitly saying that transwomen should be placed in women's prisons.

All under the guise of Liberalism but still, the traffic seems very one-way with them right now.
