You're brave venturing btl Fermats - I need gin to face that shit show these day but glad it was a positive experience!

On the subject of gin I have just discovered Gordon's Pink Gin, not a big fan of their regular stuff but pink kind is lush and obvs the correct kind of gin for a lady...

FermatsTheorem · 23/09/2018 12:20

Well done, Dunker. And fab name change.

I have just stumbled upon a rare beast, a Graun column in which the men commenting BTL have actually given me some hope for the world (admittedly I haven't dared to click on "view more comments" in case the rosy glow gets dispelled).

Pamela Stephenson's column, young woman (university student) writing in to ask is she frigid or asexual because her few casual sexual encounters have left her feeling awkward and uncomfortable and unsatisfied.

Surprise no. 1 - PSC actually gives sane advice for once, namely, you may well just not be into casual sex, give yourself a bit of a break and take the pressure of, then wait and see - all may be well if you form a relationship with someone before having sex.

Surprise no. 2 - lots of men BLT saying "yes, I'm like this, don't see the point in sex unless I have an emotional relationship with someone, try not to worry, universities are full of a few people making a lot of noise about how brilliant their life of casual ONS is, and a lot of much quieter people just quietly enjoying LTR or getting on with being single."

Guardian in common sense shocker!

I may have to lie down for a while to recover.

Name changed, I thought the pics had the possibility to go viral and really pleased with the links to the thread in the media and to give the gender critical stance a bit of airtime to people who think the concerns are only from terrible transphobes. It was 8th trending on the Indy 100 yesterday and it even happened to come across my dh's facebook feed Grin I think it has been in every major UK online paper now. Even the Sun gave it a pun headline. Grin Several Australian papers and even

But what I really want to know, is did I beat Penis beaker?

ErrolTheDragon · 22/09/2018 22:34

DukeOfSussex - that must be the most successful 'if anyone is interested . ' ever!Grin

For some unaccountable reason I'd really like a naice glass of prosecco but will have to settle for decaff tea.

Womaningreen · 22/09/2018 09:35

G&T coming up...I have Hendricks and Bombay Sapphire in at the mo (makes me look an alcy, I'm really not.

thanks, that's what I thought. I'm always a bit puzzled when people who do stuff like that are taken so seriously. It's just making money through advertising I thought? Or if no ads, a hobby that someone enjoys.

scepticalwoman · 22/09/2018 09:28

Yes please to the coffee although the way things are panning out, we should all be on gin 24 / 7

An instamum is a woman who posts on instagram (repeatedly) / has a blog that covers her whole life as a parent (well the good bits that is).

Womaningreen · 22/09/2018 09:16

hi
anyone want a coffee?

popped in so I could ask somewhere without being annoying

at the risk of sounding like the Dowager Countess, what is an "instamum" and why might such a person be living in a bubble?
Blush

DukeOfSussex · 18/09/2018 19:40

Smile Floral that is sweet

I got annoyed in H&M today as DS was filling in their customer survey thing and it asked ‘What gender identity best describes you?

Male/female/prefer not to say’

There was not a ‘none of these, I do not have a gender identity’ option.

I like to buy clothes cut for female bodies as they fit better. I do like flower prints but I also like gardening, actual digging and stuff. I can swing a pick axe and an axe and saw down tree branches.

It is the creep, creep, creep. Women’s clothes fit because of my female body! They have nothing to do with my gender identity as I do not have one!

Forgive explanation marks but this is nonsense, right? I cannot think of a way the question works.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/09/2018 19:46

Grinbless.

FloralBunting · 09/09/2018 18:28

It's been a funny old week of ups and downs, but I wanted to share an up with you.

My son, approaching 12, has been unable to find his PE kit, which is frustrating as the new term has started. I was fairly convinced it was in his bedroom, so I told him to go in there and devote some actual effort to finding it instead of flapping.

He gave it ten minutes, at which point I heard him cry out "Yaaas, queen!!!" before bursting into my room with the PE kit in his hand, raised high, with the other hand on his hip.

I may have the campest little boy ever.

Acorninspring · 04/09/2018 09:52

Yes, that is a good line, I will remember it. Not quite appropriate for situation yesterday, but I don't want to explain any more about it here, as it is too public. Just wanted to, well, not rant exactly, feel sad with others who will get it!

BettyDuMonde · 04/09/2018 09:44

Acorn

Totally understand your reticence - if it’s just a general member of the public query, maybe a ‘we act in accordance with all equality laws and cannot discuss individuals for privacy reasons’ type answer will keep the wolves from the door while the whole sorry mess plays out in courts and parliament and we have an updated legal position to work with?

Acorninspring · 04/09/2018 08:57

Someone asked me about a service I run yesterday (women only) - how that works with self id females? Really really hope we can stay under the radar...... And so upset that we have to do this to maintain the service 😢

ISaySteadyOn · 04/09/2018 05:58

Thanks. It was a discussion about preventing local pollution and people from one part hadn't thought about how it might affect people from my part (polluting mine more). So I had to say something.

Datun · 03/09/2018 19:33

Well done. Occasionally when one sticks ones neck out, but can back it up has a tremendously positive effect.

New found respect, nodding in agreement, breaking the mould.

We are so conditioned to peacekeep. And I t's so ingrained that it overrides logic. But when that logic emerges, people think oh yeah there is, I like that.

ISaySteadyOn · 03/09/2018 18:46

And do you know what? Nothing awful happened. One friend said I made good points and another said I made my points well.

BettyDuMonde · 03/09/2018 18:42

Hand holding here ✋✋

AssassinatedBeauty · 03/09/2018 16:22

Well done for sticking up for your own opinions. I know how hard it is when you realise that friends have a totally different opinion about something important.

ISaySteadyOn · 03/09/2018 16:07

I hate disagreeing with people. But I did It.

ISaySteadyOn · 03/09/2018 16:07

Could I have a hand hold please? I have just had to disagree about something with a whole group of my friends. Nothing to do with current themes but hard all the same.

IAmLurkacus · 30/08/2018 23:01

Flowers floral totally get it. I feel the same way. Every so often I dip in here or go and lurk on twitter to get more info, then I send another letter/email and speak to a few more people in RL.

The NSPCC thread upset me enough without reading the appalling responses to the poster on the other thread.

So I too will be going for now, but I will be back and we will win.

Thank you to all the regular posters who don’t name change who I’ve read for years who I’m comforted to know will still be here when I come back Flowers to you too.
