FFS

I just heard this on the news. This fucked up person says it's a breach of their human rights not to be recorded as the baby's father.

I'm kind of running out of words to express my feelings about this

I wonder how the child will be brought up.

Having an 'unusual' family is hard enough but when the person who carried you for 9 months and gave birth to you tells you off when you give them a mothers day card, or you wonder what's going on when you have biology lessons, or grow up being told that you haven't actually/ever had a mum, or the person who you call 'dad' has a female body and did actially give birth to you...

Wow.

Juells · 07/06/2018 19:11

Isn't this exatly why the words 'pregnant person' were dreamt up, though?

user1499173618 · 07/06/2018 19:08

I agree, falling pregnant, giving birth and breastfeeding all gave me a very heightened awareness of the biological facts of being a female mammal. There ain’t no getting away from the facts of life!

OrchidInTheSun · 07/06/2018 19:07

Geordie - what isn't fucked up about deciding you're a bloke halfway through your pregnancy and then taking legal action to alter your child's birth certificate to reflect your conceit?

Totally agree sweetie

It's attention seeking above dysphoria

AnLaBrea · 07/06/2018 19:06

Sorry, I phrased that badly, it gave me a heightened awareness of having a female physiology.

AnLaBrea · 07/06/2018 19:05

I agree orchid. It made me feel more female than I ever had before.

AnLaBrea · 07/06/2018 19:04

Somebody on another thread said that what needs to happen is that men need to accept feminine men. They also need to accept masculine women! Men are threatened by a lot and it's costing women in new unbelievable ways!

OrchidInTheSun · 07/06/2018 19:04

It doesn't seem to fit with the whole dysphoria thing does it? I found being pregnant made me hugely aware of the femaleness of my body. Pregnancy must be horrific if you suffer from dysphoria. And yet there are quite a few of these people who seem to think they're men and yet can do the most female thing in the world Confused

"What does this mean? Should there no longer be any distinction between male and female? Maybe we should all be an "it" and can pick and choose how we act, dress, live our lives on an ever changing basis depending on how we "feel" at any given time?"

This would be fine and if this were the case then individuals (m or f) wouldn't feel as uncomfortable in their body because it would mean less. I think we were more androgenous in the past. The feminine ideal has become more feminine (physically). The male ideal has become more masculine.

Any meeting in the middle wrt traditional roles has been anti-reflected in our physicality.

GeordieTerf · 07/06/2018 19:02

@OrchidInTheSun

I agree with your point, but I don't think you should call this person "fucked-up".

StirredShaken · 07/06/2018 18:57

The whole trans ideology has changed me. I have become more religious and lean more to the centre politically. Shock The lies, the deception and abuse. It goes against everything from science, tradition and religion.

I have never seen anything so evil in my life.

iheartmichellemallon · 07/06/2018 18:57

Totally agree Sweetie, it's absolute madness. Completely an emperor's new clothes situation.

SweetieBaby · 07/06/2018 18:55

I am totally struggling to understand this - you decide that you are not a woman but a man and therefore reject your female body and yet you go on to do THE most female thing possible and give birth to a baby.

I honestly cannot understand this. I can understand someone who truly believes that they have been born into the wrong body and therefore choose to change the outward appearance of their body to align with how they feel but I cannot understand not "feeling" like a woman and yet doing the most female of things.

What does this mean? Should there no longer be any distinction between male and female? Maybe we should all be an "it" and can pick and choose how we act, dress, live our lives on an ever changing basis depending on how we "feel" at any given time?

AssassinatedBeauty · 07/06/2018 18:49

Gay parents don't seek to change or replace birth certificates, they might get an adoption order or gain parental responsibility another way. They aren't recorded as the birth mother (or father if a lesbian couple).

AsAProfessionalFekko · 07/06/2018 18:47

I still wonder about the baby of the male bodied person who took a cocktail of drugs in order to produce a trickle of 'milk' to 'chest feed' the baby with.

God one knows what was going into that child - don't we check every bloody label when pregnant or breast feeding for warnings?

AnLaBrea · 07/06/2018 18:45

I agree with askauntlydia, anybody fighting to get the state to validate their delusion is not going to be able to empathise with their child. The child will have to be the son/daughter of a father -that is its role

AsAProfessionalFekko · 07/06/2018 18:44

I hope that child grows up to be a tax accountant or a vicar - something just to hack them off.

Reminds me of Ned Flanders and his beatnik parents.

ScreamingValenta · 07/06/2018 18:42

What is the legal basis for the rights of mother/father, where these differ? In a court case, for instance, would the designations on the birth certificate make a difference to the outcome of a hearing?

lightthedarkness · 07/06/2018 18:41

And who is looking after / considering the rights of the child? This seems to be all about the adult wishes?

AnLaBrea · 07/06/2018 18:38

@asaprofessionalfekko, I was wondering that, doesn't that remove the rights of the actual father, ie, the one whose sperm fertilised ovum, as opposed to the 'father' whose ovum was fertilised by.................. somebody has been erased here. It's not a woman this time round but it is bonkers.

BlackeyedSusan · 07/06/2018 18:38

Parent would be a good compromise for both baby and parent. Would need some legal bods to check the legal ramifications for both parties.

People accept gay parents.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 07/06/2018 18:35

So the sperm supplier will be the mum? The child won't 'legally' have a dad? If the one who gave birth thinks they are male then are they a seahorse?

terfinginthevoid · 07/06/2018 18:34

Oh FGS. This shows what happens when you allow nonsense into law in the first place. Men can't become women, women can't father children.
Birth certificates should state the reproductive facts, they should not be changable (with the exception of people with disorders of sexual development whose sex could not be recorded at birth). The GRA should be repealed, and if necessary cases be taken back to the European Court of Human Rights for a proper assessment of the implications on the rest of society of allowing people to legally change sex. That assessment was never done in the case which led to the GRA idiocy in the first place, as it was believed the numbers of people who would request a legal sex change would be to small to affect the rest of us.

HotRocker · 07/06/2018 18:34

What’s next, egg provider and sperm provider instead of mother and father on birth certs? Maybe just gameet providers?
