What if we fail?

I find myself worrying about where we will be 2, 5, 10, 20 years from now if we fail to stop the tide that, just now, with the GRA reforms, threatens to redefine the meaning of the word woman, erase lesbians and damage a generation of children.

I'm not saying we should give up: anything but. In fact, I think it might be an important motivating factor to consider what else might happen if our MPs continue to enshrine lies into laws.

What will come next?

"What's written on birth certificates against the 'Sex' heading seems to have changed at some point. They certainly said Girl or Boy up until at least the 1960s; but by the late 1970s it had moved to Male and Female."

I don't know when it changed. So far as I am aware, there was no particular trans input which led to a change.

Where do people get the money for this stuff?
That's a transgender man

I don't see people being happy about this level of NHS funds being spent on cosmetic surgery, where as I can see people being more keen on therapy to help with suicidal feelings.

OneHourTwentyFourMinutes · 06/06/2018 10:16

I can't see many of the Tory or centrist floating voters being happy with the NHS funding cosmetic surgery mental health support with the suicidal feelings yes, and if MH support can ease the narcissism.

Sarah Vine wants a referendum on the NHS.

LangCleg · 06/06/2018 10:09

And in 5-10 years time, when the lawsuits against blockers used for precocious puberty are joined by those where they were used for trans identities, and the lawsuits against Androgel by men are being joined by those with desisted trans identities, and the Guides are having an inquiry because of teen pregnancies and STDs occurring via mixed sex accommodation, and the Education Department has lost ministers because safeguarding was dropped and abuse rocketed....

... all those young people will be saying THIS HAPPENED TO MY FRIEND.

The tsunami building will be like all the other child abuse scandals that have gone before. And nobody will be admitting that they ever spoke in support of it.

It would just be better if TPTB would listen to feminists telling them the bloody obvious before children are harmed, not after.

Sorry, I know I shouldn't give this poster any more attention but this really did make me laugh:

If you fail there's always the contingency plan (bake cookies for the kids) then clean the toilet, then tidy up after your husbands and maybe wash the car and walk the dog

Today I'm baking biscuits for the dog, and walking him. Then I'll be digging out a new border in the garden, and patching the lawn with the turf I'm removing. The rest of the jobs mentioned above? Those are DP's jobs, not mine!

Pratchet · 06/06/2018 09:53

wow - shameless

ScarletBegonias · 06/06/2018 09:52

What's written on birth certificates against the 'Sex' heading seems to have changed at some point. They certainly said Girl or Boy up until at least the 1960s; but by the late 1970s it had moved to Male and Female.

ShotsFired · 06/06/2018 09:39

Unfortunately young people don't vote half as much as older people do, so that theory may be a few years later in coming than you'd like. And given most people tend to become more conservative (minded, not party in this context) all those young liberal dreams may not be quite so powerful.

GibbertyFlibbert · 06/06/2018 09:28

Actually, all she needs to do is wait 3 or 4 years. Right now trans IDs are apparently popular in schools. Whether they transition or not, we are going to have a big influx of trans-positive voters who want to increase protections, not decrease them. Come the next General Election a lot of first-time voters are going to be looking for a party with a trans-positive manifesto and voting record. And I bet the big parties realise that.

ShotsFired · 06/06/2018 09:17

And now you've blown your under-bridge-dwelling cover J4nice.

You were doing so well too, bless.

Maybe next time, eh champ?

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 06/06/2018 03:28

More sexism and misogyny no doubt. Maybe with added appeals to female socialisation and some emotional blackmail and twisting of truths?

@J4nice
'Italiangreyhound the ignorance of this man amazes me'

which man?

GaspingShark · 05/06/2018 17:18

What if we fail?

We fail. But screw your courage to the sticking-place and we'll not fail.

Pratchet · 05/06/2018 13:40

It's true - funding went up by 50pc in the last financial year. Honestly, all for something that has never been proved to exist.

J4nice · 05/06/2018 13:36

The nhs will never pull out funding, they have employed new surgeons to replace the old ones and continue to do so

But your reasoning is laughable at best

J4nice · 05/06/2018 13:35

@Italiangreyhound the ignorance of this man amazes me

ShotsFired · 04/06/2018 21:28

If an egg is only 0.6% rotten do you still eat it or has the whole thing been changed?

Pratchet · 04/06/2018 21:19

The double standards are shameless

Ereshkigal · 04/06/2018 21:17

Yes. But not for PCOS in most areas, right?

Pratchet · 04/06/2018 21:11

You can already get trans cosmetic electrolysis on the NHS.

auntycartmanslargertesticle · 04/06/2018 21:10

Transracialism already legal in one US state.nationalpost.com/opinion/barbara-kay-delaware-students-can-now-choose-their-own-race-this-should-end-well
