Sickening. Lesbian is beaten up by non binary women (female) at LGBT bar in St Louis and her attackers brag about it online.

Agreed

MipMipMip · 01/06/2018 22:25

It's things like this that bug me about the femanist board. I feel it needs to be on the main boards under violence against women. This should be shouted about, everyone should know what's going on. At the moment it's just dismissed as fringe but it really shouldn't.

This isn't a criticism at you OP, it would quickly get moved, hijacked or deleted if it was there. I just find it scary how much violence against women is getting ignored.

OvaHere · 01/06/2018 22:10

This is awful hopefully the victim has some good real life support. I won't hold my breath waiting for the LGBT orgs to speak out about this uptick in Lesbian bashing that seems to be so in vogue within their own movement suddenly.

TerfsUp · 01/06/2018 21:43

What Ereshkigal said. Appalling. I hope the victim is ok.

Ereshkigal · 01/06/2018 21:00

Thanks JG.

This is how strong the slur TERF has become in those circle. If a woman is branded as one, all violence towards her will be seen as deserved.

AngryAttackKittens · 01/06/2018 19:35

Was trying to explain this incident and the various activities of Tara Wolf to DH last night. People act like this when they think they have so much societal approval behind them that the legal system will go easy on them in the unlikely event that they're charged with anything rather than given hearty congratulations and a parade. It's the result of refusing to talk to anyone outside your bubble for a long, long time.

Ereshkigal · 01/06/2018 19:32

They genuinely believe they’re righteous warriors don’t they? And yy to PP saying this is what happens when your views are never challenged and no one ever tells you you’re wrong. It’s pathological

Absolutely. You see this so often with transactivists and trans allies. They cannot compute that they might not be right. Even in purely factual things.

I vote for 2.

Yes it's was the bragging on Twitter that undid her.

Safe spaces and no platforming are creating a generation (not all) who have never had to face anyone who disagrees with them, must be a shock when you enter real life.

Bowlofbabelfish · 01/06/2018 19:02

Just... what’s the thought process? Three against one in a bar fight and you openly brag about it on social media? I can’t grasp how anyone would think they would escape without consequence. Especially in the USA, where so many states are right-to-work.

thebewilderness · 01/06/2018 18:56

It was the bragging about the crime on twitter that appears to have been too much for the employer.

Bowlofbabelfish · 01/06/2018 18:55

You beat someone up, and you boast about it in Twitter? This indicates you are either:

  1. Incredibly dim
  2. So self centred that you genuinely believe there are no consequences for your actions.
tobee · 01/06/2018 18:51

I'm fucking sick of the TRAs etc employing darvo with impunity.

As I've said before, this is what happens when student unions etc have a policy of no platforming and overusing the concept of "safe spaces"

MrGHardy · 01/06/2018 18:25

I've been saying it for a long time. These people are fascists.

Sarahconnor1 · 01/06/2018 17:11

Yep one of the attackers mobile.twitter.com/NewAmericanTeam/status/1002263628647550976

Ereshkigal · 01/06/2018 17:09

I'm pretty sure it is one of the attackers. The woman called Natalie. She worked in PR for some sort of insurance sales company I think.

OP posts:
detectivepuzzled · 01/06/2018 15:02

is it definitely one of the attackers? It isn't the victim?

TerfsUp · 01/06/2018 11:09

Good to hear that one of the attackers has been sacked. I hope all of the attackers face criminal charges.

Italiangreyhound · 01/06/2018 09:41

Common sense. Looks like you can't violently attack someone and have no consequences after all.

Sarahconnor1 · 01/06/2018 09:31

Well that was quick. Looks like one of the attackers had been sacked.

thebewilderness · 31/05/2018 23:26

Or did he mean "I'm a misogynist who thinks lesbian issues can be dismissed as just lesbian shit, whatever, fuck off". That's how I read it but may have got it wrong!

That is how I understood it too.

We are all conditioned to misogyny from our earliest days.
Some never recover from that conditioning while others are killed because of it.

bd67th · 31/05/2018 18:25

I wonder how long the TIF will keep claiming to be a man if "he" is assigned to a men's prison?

Sarahconnor1 · 31/05/2018 18:06

Opheliah it's hyperbole, an attempt to muddy the waters and silence debate. I have seen many requests for any examples of feminists being violent, I have yet to see any.

Opheliah · 31/05/2018 18:01
  • not calling anyone a terf here sorry. You know what I mean.
