Feminism contradicts an equalist society: discuss

I’ve been watching a lot of threads lately and I have come to the conclusion that; feminism in its earliest form was a beacon of light in an unjust era. Fighting against clear inequality between genders. My question is, as the gaps reduce into non existence should we begin to describe ourselves as equalist as opposed to feminists.

I think this is a really important point to discuss as evidence suggest that the youths of the day I.e 0-30 years olds there are virtually zero inequalities between men and women, and, the variables that are unequal are because one side chooses to be different.

Thoughts?

:Discuss.

Feels like a command from someone who labours under the delusion that they are dominant.

Of all the things @Elendon!

It’s a tad creepy it reminds me of the 🧐 emoji.

I did enjoy the ‘Hello! I have made up some words. You are all stupid! Goodbye!’ though, it’s a new way of making the same tired point!

Wow, I hope that was a very enjoyable hour for the OP. Anyway, I’m off to campaign about dog Shit now. My eyes have been truly opened.

at the end of it?

Eleventy points? Is that better or worse than grade 1? Maybe it is better but worse but better but not really that important cos I’m a woman...

UpstartCrow · 30/05/2018 16:12

Eleventy points to Offred! Well done, your cognitive dissonance didn't show at all.

Offred · 30/05/2018 16:09

Do I get graded at level 1? Grin

Offred · 30/05/2018 16:08

I’ve been enlightened re the error of my thinking by the OP, so;

We have equality but we need to seek equality but not equality for women cos things that are examples of female oppression aren’t very important.

SeahorsesAREhorses · 30/05/2018 16:07

Oh, it's almost like he had an agenda.

Elendon · 30/05/2018 16:03

Be UNAWARE of the pay disparity

Elendon · 30/05/2018 16:01

To equal society men must not:

Be violent
Be dismissive of work in the home environment they gladly and happily set up with their partner
Be acutely aware of the pay disparity between them and their female workers
Be expecting sex as a given because they are men

As a starter for 10.

Fifteen more marks if you OP can come up with three other things men can do to make society more equal.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/05/2018 15:53

Maybe we should get our basic equalist terms laid out ready for the next one?

For starters:

  1. males must reduce levels of violence to that of females.
  2. males and females to commit to equal hours and effort of work, where 'work' includes paid employment, necessary domestic tasks, care of dependents.
RebelRogue · 30/05/2018 15:25

Meh your message basically is

"You are doing feminism wrong. You are focusing on the wrong issues.
I haven't actually thought about what issues you should tackle or what you should do(except for a vague "equalism" bs) . I know a man...and he was treated like shit so everything is equal and domestic violence is irrelevant.
I just came in here you to tell you you're wrong, all wrong!"

Well if we're wrong,then you're an offensive,trolling,goady twat!

Maybe chat to women in refuges and Women’s Aid instead of prostitutes to find out just how irrelevant domestic abuse is! Twat!

BertrandRussell · 30/05/2018 15:12

Please don’t tell me I have to come onto a feminist board and defend state education! I can’t cope with the cross contamination of my hobby horses......

Tippexy · 30/05/2018 15:12

“evidence suggest that the youths of the day I.e 0-30 years olds there are virtually zero inequalities between men and women”

What evidence?

WeeBisom · 30/05/2018 15:09

So Equalist comes on here and says 'I’m not saying that domestic violence isn’t an important topic to combat, it’s just not a priority as there are more prevelant crimes," and then chides us by saying "you are all focusing on irrelevant issues." On Equalist's view, issues that affect women are considered too niche to be given any priority. Domestic violence? Nah, let's tackle the problem of dog shit on the street first. Rape? Eh, super rare. What's the fuss. Intimate partner murders? Too few of them to really hit the radar. What's that old cliche? Whenever someone bitches online about feminism it demonstrates why feminism is necessary. Sorry, Equalist, I think you live in a completely topsy-turvy world if you think that dog shit on the streets (!) is more of an issue than women being raped and murdered.

*naice!!

DJLippy · 30/05/2018 15:07

Considering the state of education in the UK I'm not surprised.

I've worked in secondary schools teaching maths, science, English, history. I don't have any qualifications. They are literally teaching children in corridors...

Offred · 30/05/2018 15:07

I believe OP could be a teacher TBH, some of DS’s teachers are like this actually. School is at the edge of the council estate. Teachers in naive schools maybe not but teachers in schools in poor areas which have failed ofsted inspections, can’t recruit or retain teachers and have been forcibly made into academies to ‘improve standards’ yep yep... schools like DS’s have teachers like this...

BetterEatCheese · 30/05/2018 15:02

Oh dear, bye OP. I don't think it's us that are small minded.

If you can't take the heat...

AssassinatedBeauty · 30/05/2018 15:00

That flounce was signposted a mile off. Honestly I wish one of these dudes that goes on about equalism would just actually read the responses and think about them. Instead they've got a script that they plough through regardless of the responses.

Thankfully I don't believe the OP is a teacher, otherwise I'd be even more concerned about the state of education in the UK.

TheUterati · 30/05/2018 14:54

Oh. I am too late... Bother....

Bowlofbabelfish · 30/05/2018 14:51

I’m going have to go now

Cake to ice?

Please don’t, it’s been fun.

TheUterati · 30/05/2018 14:49

If you believe in 'equalism' and consider feminism to be passe and irrelevant, then why not simply focus your attentions on that?

If you believe that men, either individually or as a class, are disadvantaged in certain areas, then why not simply focus on addressing those issues, where you see that they exist?

In the meantime, we will get on with the feminist business of the liberation of women and girls from patriarchy.
