Where the fuck has the Posie thread gone and why??

So posie has views which have got her no platformed by WPUK.

and now MN will not let us discuss her no platforming???

WTF is happening?? How scary is this shit?

The reason I can see given is that the WPUK decision was not to do with MN.

99% of threads are about people/organsitions/decisions not to do with MN. That explanation makes no sense.

Did Posie ask for it to go?

I thought she was getting mostly support on there.

Thank you Beyond!

I'm now doing that bit where Basil sinks to his knees in gratitude....

"Dear UK, it seems we are at a time where you can offend everyone except Muslims and trans women..... all the rest of you are expected to take it on the chin."

this is just slightly rude. nothing to see there.

I'm confused.

Truscum · 30/05/2018 18:09

I don’t mean to say that all TIF’s are identikit and all think the same.

But I do think it’s ok to use generalisations when it comes to something like this, I.e mental disorders. Unless you honestly believe these women all have male souls that somehow got into the wrong body then we can safely say they suffer (or believe they do) from dysphoria.

When you are talking about disorders, stating that it would be unusual for a person suffering from that to behave in a certain way is ok isn’t it? I would t say it was stereotyping.

Like if you had an anorexic who regularly ate 3000 calories a day, you’d say ‘well, someone suffering from anorexia wouldn’t do that.’

OnThisHill · 30/05/2018 18:08

@SameTerf
I think what you say is spot on. The message - about Self-ID - is exactly what must be conveyed to the wider public. And sometimes blunt language like Posie's is what is needed.
What ManFriday is doing is pretty blunt, yet whilst it got into 'the most read article ' on the DM that day, the comments below the article proved that the readers just don't get the point.
I know very well when talking to my own family, I have to use blunt, words of one syllable type language to even get them to start listening.
Unfortunately, on twitter we're in that well known echo chamber, and Posie's comments are very much open to academic and forensic dissection.
She's been interviewed under caution and
I think that would make me throw, erm, caution to the winds and just start talking straight.
I'm with Posie but understand WP's need to protect what they do. They're a tiny group of committed women who, along with local organisers and the brilliant women and transpeople who speak are doing a fantastic job. And from their tiny beginnings, the discussion of self-ID will at some point burst out into the public consciousness and it will be THEN that we have any chance at all of stopping it. But it's a MASSIVE battle and WP are choosing their fights as they see fit. And I respect that. (Sounds like they failed terribly with communication with Posie). Also, I saw somewhere that it's a 'fight' between them and Mayday4Women. Don't know anything about that.

BeyondSceptical · 30/05/2018 18:06

This is apparently part of it, though Wpuk haven't commented directly...

please can someone tell me what these "racist and religious views" are before one of us dies......

As I understand it: objecting to girls of primary school age being made to wear hijab and saying something like the only people you're not allowed to be mean about in the UK are transwomen and Muslims.

(I am only going by the posts I have seen screenshot on the Twatter.)

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 30/05/2018 18:05

What nonsense are you talking now Supermatch? Soldiers? Hold on to yourself, you are in danger of peeing your pants in glee.

Anyway, Posie is controversial, sure. So is Venice. Probably quite useful at times. Posie has also shown herself very ready to account for herself and debate the issue. The WPUK events are generally recorded and released. They could have quite easily challenged Posie on camera. Or asked her to make a statement. But this is stupid. And we have heard fuck all from them since. Is Posie to be held to account but not them, as though we are all in support of WPUK for a decision to no platform?

And to be clear, that sterlisation comment was grotesque and grossly stupid and I certainly question Posie's judgement. Personally I think she has been too involved in full on debate and needs to take a step back for a bit. Like we all do sometimes. But I thought that we were challenging the #nodebate bullshit.

The first one hundred posts will help sort it out for you. There are also links as well.

Being pregnant is not a stereotype. It is a biological fact of being female.
Why would a man want to do something that is as female as it comes yet still demand to be called a man?

Those who are GC state woman is not a feeling it is a biological reality. Well the same goes for being a man and the last time I checked men do not get pregnant.

SupermatchGame · 30/05/2018 18:01

I don't think so Elendon why do you ask?

speakingwoman · 30/05/2018 18:01

agree nauticant

(that's a reference to a scene in Torquay by the way....)

SupermatchGame

Do you think that WPuk is enforcing the sterilisation of males when it comes to discussing the GRA act?

Elendon · 30/05/2018 17:55

Pushing a child out of your vagina, or going through a C Section is a reminder that you are female and you have given birth. No male will ever experience this (it simply isn't going to happen that human female uteri will be transplanted into natal males - it will not be a success).

I agree Truscum It's a big fat reminder of being female.

Hyppolyta · 30/05/2018 17:53

I dont think anyone should be like anything.

But how can one claim to be male when doing something physically impossible for a male to do? 🙄

BOO32 · 30/05/2018 17:50

gah they are

SupermatchGame · 30/05/2018 17:50

Oh dear Posie has got herself into a bit of a mess hasn't she.

The odd whiff of insinuated racism. Forced sterilisation.

That right-wing ideology showing up again. Soldiers working franticly to try and keep it covered up, out of sight. Again.

BOO32 · 30/05/2018 17:49

if you want to be a man you don't get to choose to carry babies too

crikeyposie, authoritarian much? How precisely do you propose to make this happen?

It's actually not hard, the person says there are a man whilst quite clearly they are a woman. The sooner we stop supporting delusional thinking the better.

lynmilne65 · 30/05/2018 17:49

When the first sentence contains 'f**k' I don't bother to read any more

Truscum · 30/05/2018 17:45

This may surprise you, but the urge to reproduce is very strong in some people. There are even women who have chosen death in order to have a child by refusing chemotherapy during pregnancy

And that is extremely sad. Do you mean the woman intentionally got pregnant after discovering they had cancer, or found out they were pregnant and decided against therapy?

I would say that was different to a person with diagnosed gender dysphoria, who is physically repulsed and traumatised by any reminder of their own body, willingly getting pregnant, already knowing what would happen.

I can’t see anyone who suffers from dysphoria happily wanting a big fat reminder. Or being that at ease with their womanhood that they feel comfortable doing that.

Maybe I’m wrong. I also can’t understand how any man that is so proud and happy with his penis that he asks lesbians to suck on it can have dysphoria either.

LangCleg · 30/05/2018 17:44

One thing I'm getting from this thread is that transmen should be like X or should think like Y.

Yes. Awkward!

nauticant · 30/05/2018 17:42

One thing I'm getting from this thread is that transmen should be like X or should think like Y. I thought that kind of thinking, fixated with stereotypes, belonged to the other side.

Elendon · 30/05/2018 17:42

The GRA allows for men with intact genitalia to declare themselves women and to go into women's spaces.

WPuk is discussing this as it may impact on women and girl's safety.

To loose testicles and penis is to become immediately sterile.

BeyondSceptical · 30/05/2018 17:38

That should be "relatively common among some who oppose self ID ... but generally put themselves at the other end of the scale to posie "

So which is it? Is sterilisation okay as a gatekeeping device for males, but never to be suggested for females. Or is all sterilisation okay/all not okay?

Elendon · 30/05/2018 17:38

Do we have any idea what DID get her no-platformed?

Are you hard of hearing? speakingwoman

HER 'RACIST AND RELIGIOUS VIEWS'

loveyouradvice · 30/05/2018 17:38

It's logical the speakers need to be on the same page, Posie could pose a chink in the armour. It's sad. Like I said I think WPUK could have spoken to her behind the scenes and calling or inferring to her as a racist has achieved nothing.

Full heartedly agree with this.... Whatever the reason, it is shocking that Posie was just told on twitter and then such an inappropriate public statement was made about her..... I thought WPUK had more sense: it serves nobody to make a statement like that which will be pounced on by TRAs and hotly debated by others - like us! Distracting from what they are actually trying to achieve.....

Posie has - and is - doing great work. She may hold views others disagree with.....

But surely the most important thing - especially in this of all weeks when MAN FRIDAY have been SHEROIC - to help shape the debate - rather than give the opposition ammunition which is what WPUK have done....Surely they could have just withdrawn her name, and announced something simple lie "Posie Parker is now unable to attend" or whatever could have been agreed with Posie - having had an off the record conversation with her about what both sides would say, given they (for whatever reason) no longer felt it was appropriate for her to speak..... And I do get the Muslim thing: We need allies, lots of them, to be successful - but then if it was the Muslim thing, surely it was old news...... Hmmm.....
