You couldn't make it up at this point, could you?

""Trans Voices for Repeal would like the..Together for Yes campaign..to formally acknowledge the pain their actions have caused trans people in Ireland, the negative effect their campaign has had on the mental health of trans people and the unnecessary nature of this exclusion."

Suspicions about this group were discussed on earlier thread:

ToeToToe · 27/05/2018 11:14

This is who is demanding a apology: twitter.com/transforrepeal/status/974740723634450433

They've existed since March on twitter and been trying to inject trans political ideology into the Together for Yes campaign for the last couple of months.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 27/05/2018 11:14

It only takes one idiot to write something on medium & use "we" - I dont think it deserves attention.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 27/05/2018 11:12

Or a bunch of drunk students having a laugh?

Cwenthryth · 27/05/2018 11:08

They didn’t exist until yesterday - no hashtags on Twitter, FB page set up yesterday apparently twitter.com/georgebmore/status/1000647978925703168

It’s either bandwagon jumping at its most shameless or a parody.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 27/05/2018 11:07

I'd say women who have suffered miscarriages, infertility and hysterectomies - hey everyone trans men would be in front of them in the apology queue.

Entitled, much?

ToeToToe · 27/05/2018 11:05

This is a real demand for an apology all right - this is where appeasement has got us. Transactivists have got our politicians saying "transwomen are women" and using "trans-inclusive" language in the NHS.

Women's issues aren't allowed to be about women anymore - it has to centre trans issues.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 27/05/2018 10:42

I'm wondering how all the earnest young women who turn up outside the WPUK meetings to yell at other women are processing this.

I can imagine them being very much in the YES camp - this must be wobbling their heads.

backaftera2yearbreak · 27/05/2018 10:37

🙄

This has to be a joke

AsAProfessionalFekko · 27/05/2018 10:32

It must be a joke - something put out to bolster the idea of mental illness in some of these 'activists'. It just can't be real?

Mxyzptlk · 27/05/2018 10:31

We really need to feel sorry for the actual vagina-havers who know they are not women.

WhoGetsHeard · 27/05/2018 10:23

The campaign to repeal the 8th was so tough on all the poor transwomen who had to listen to those thoughtless vagina-havers talk about their icky wombs. Sad Let us apologise, and centre them in all future discussion about pregnancy and abortion.

TerfsUp · 27/05/2018 10:23

A group of independent trans people have called on Together for Yes to formally apologise to the trans people of Ireland, and to acknowledge the pain caused by the trans exclusionary campaign ran by the group in the referendum to repeal the eighth amendment of the constitution.

That was great - my first laugh of the morning.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/05/2018 10:23

Non partisan ???? What the fuck is that all about???

Catch all term...??? blah blah blah

While cisgender [1] women do account for the majority of people affected by the eighth amendment, other AFAB [2] people, mainly trans men, non-binary and intersex people, are affected while not being women Possbly one of the most revolting pieces I've read for a while.

When you think about what those words actually mean... that is literally ridiculous!

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 27/05/2018 10:22

To be fair, it seems any arsehole with a computer can get an article published in Medium

I think that's completely the case isn't it? They're making a site off the backs of free labour from anyone who wants to write an article - like Quora but without questions.

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 27/05/2018 10:21

It's such a weird logic, you redefine women to mean feeling 'female' and then complain when this excludes you from things like this

YES drwitch.

It's not inclusive because we've redefined the word so it excludes us. It is ridiculous.

Mxyzptlk · 27/05/2018 10:18

From the website :

Trans Voices for Repeal
Trans men, non-binary people and non gendered individuals can, and do, get pregnant. Repeal is about more than the women of Ireland.

See a bandwagon passing and jump right on it.

QueenOfQuacks · 27/05/2018 10:06

What the fuck are they even on about?

I don't know who Matt Kennedy is but one of their complaints appears to be that he spoke at a rally - but the glossary at the bottom says he's a trans rights activist? So.... what am I missing? Trans rights activists got to speak at rallies but somehow the campaign was still trans exclusionary?

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 27/05/2018 10:04

To be fair, it seems any arsehole with a computer can get an article published in Medium

Terfing · 27/05/2018 10:02

Good. I hope their campaign goes viral Smile

This is bound to peak-trans thousands!

Popchyk · 27/05/2018 09:59

All aboard the Peak Trans Express.

ChattyLion · 27/05/2018 09:58

Jeez.. the utter narcissism Shock

AsAProfessionalFekko · 27/05/2018 09:56

Maybe it's a joke. People can't be that ridiculous can they?

TERFragetteCity · 27/05/2018 09:56

From what I can see this group were formed yesterday.

Only forming to force an apology.

UpstartCrow · 27/05/2018 09:54

(but there are no recorded problems for women caused by self ID in Ireland).
