A letter to a female transactivist

Just saw this on Twitter. Brilliant

"A man is not a woman. There’s no medical procedure that can change sex in humans or any other mammal. When you fight for the right of men to call themselves “women” and enter woman-only spaces on the basis of their say so, you are doing what Men’s Rights Activists have always done. You are violating women’s boundaries for personal gain. You are allowing men to colonise women’s spaces. You are creating a climate of fear where women and girls will start to withdraw from public life, because all semblance of safety – access to sex seggregated spaces when they are vulnerable – will be destroyed. Your activism is not feminism, it’s at best a misguided naiveté, and at worst opportunism to get ahead while throwing other women under the bus. And by the time you realise how foolish you’ve been, because you are “just” a woman in those men’s eyes, it’ll be too late. The way entitled men disrespect women, the way they mow women down, the way they put their own needs, feelings and wants before women’s lives and livelihoods, they’ll do the same to you when you’re no longer useful to them."

The only 'presence' required to be a woman is the presence of a female reproductive system.

Anushkashsmum · 29/05/2018 10:12

Your arrogance is unbelievable.. I have two ex husbands.. I'm a mum of three daughters.. Open minded and don't believe in the cruelty and transphobic expressed on here.. Most of you are just mad!

Babdoc · 29/05/2018 09:50

Anushka: “A woman who has a hysterectomy is still a woman”.

Absolutely- and by the same token
“A man who cuts his dick off is STILL A MAN!”
Case rests, m’lud.

SeahorsesAREhorses · 29/05/2018 09:46

It is so odd isn't it, we are called extremists for being able to name facts about women. This is how far we have come and it exposes transactivism for the assault on women that it is. They want to take everything from us, our spaces, our words, our sports. Oh, and they want us to cheer them on while we see our rights dismantled and rebuilt around sexist stereotypes.

Terfulike · 29/05/2018 09:37

I think I know what is meant by the term 'presence'. It's the presence of chromosomes. A woman has a presence of XX in all her cells.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 09:34

Oooh bold fail

(Still a lie even if I can't bold it)

R0wantrees · 29/05/2018 09:34

My ex husband called his sister a half woman which was a really cruel thing to say.

Yes, some men say cruel things about women and demonstrate their complete lack of understanding about hysterectomies, the menopause and what makes a women.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 29/05/2018 09:33

A woman who has a hysterectomy is still a woman...but some of the extremist on her make out otherwise

Thats a lie

Terfulike · 29/05/2018 09:33

How do you know lang. I bet they didn't say that though.

I think, besides being grossly offensive, this particular argument by TIMs is related to their lack of knowledge on basic biology.

All cells produced by your body contain the sex chromosomes. If an organ is removed eg the spleen, the rest of the body's cells remain their original sex. A TIM in no way resembles a woman, whether pre or post hysterectomy. Each cell of a tim is male, including the ones in his fashioned vagina.

SeahorsesAREhorses · 29/05/2018 09:29

No feminist on here has ever said that women who have hysterectomies are not women, what a silly thing to say.

Women exist, we are half the human race. Stop the woman phobia, stop trying to erase my sex.

gendercritter · 29/05/2018 09:26

A woman who has a hysterectomy is still a woman...but some of the extremist on her make out otherwise.

If you can find a single post saying this directly or implying it, I'll eat my hat.

Only TRA's come out with this sort of thing as if it's a logical argument. It isn't.

As someone else said, only women can have hysterectomies. Perhaps you would benefit from watching about why a woman without a womb is still a woman. It's explained very simply.

LangCleg · 29/05/2018 09:16

My ex husband called his sister a half woman which was a really cruel thing to say.

You haven't got an ex-husband.

R0wantrees · 29/05/2018 09:02

A woman who has a hysterectomy is still a woman...but some of the extremist on her make out otherwise.

I have only ever heard reference to this from TRAs who use this female experience to make their argument that they are similarly women.

It was made by TRAs on both the Victoria Derbyshire Show and GenderQuake and neither Victoria Derbyshire or Cathy Newman challenged this.

Like Hyppolyta I also had a hysterectomy, as I had cancer and it was needed to save my life.

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/05/2018 08:59

Can humans change sex though?

Interested minds want to know

AngryAttackKittens · 29/05/2018 08:56

Your ex husband posts on mumsnet?

Anushkashsmum · 29/05/2018 08:54

If you read what I said properly... That is just what I said.. A woman who has a hysterectomy is still a woman...but some of the extremist on her make out otherwise. My ex husband called his sister a half woman which was a really cruel thing to say.

Bowlofbabelfish · 29/05/2018 08:04

And I'm sure you don't need a lesson on chromosomes?

I’d love you to give me a lesson on chromosomes. I’ve been a geneticist for twenty odd years though so make it good.

Being a woman is more than just physical.. Its a presence..

Hahahah. You should write copy for perfume ads. ‘eau de femme. Pour Elle, maybe.

A presence? Like a soul? I dont believe in souls. Cartesian duality isn’t realy my thing but if your reasoning is based on souls then it’s a faith based position, not a scientific one. By definition.

So: can humans change sex?

Ten extra points for the hairy feminists jibe though. Really gives the rest of it some gravitas.

PurpleCrowbar · 29/05/2018 01:02

It's a new poster with a 'mum' name innit.

AncientLights · 29/05/2018 00:19

I think Anushkasmum is none other than our old friend Shon Faye:-

Woman is a loose shifting constellation of biological, political, cultural phenomena which varies according to context, place and time.

I claim my £5.

titchy · 28/05/2018 23:37

Being a woman is more than just physical..

Nope. Being female is ONLY about the physical and what results from that physicality. Fuck all to do with essences, presences and everything to do with XX chromosomes.

jedenfalls · 28/05/2018 23:30

You are India Willoughby and I claim my £5.

ROFL.

i bought a copy of Private Eye yesterday, but I can’t tell satire from real life anymore.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 28/05/2018 23:22

certainhalfdesertedstreets" or some thing silly like that

You can say what you like about me. But hands off J Alfred Prufrock Grin

soapboxqueen · 28/05/2018 22:46

... it's a presence

Sounds like something haunting the decrepit house at the end of the street.

LangCleg · 28/05/2018 22:40

Being a woman is more than just physical.. Its a presence

Oh guff off. What a load of old baloney. I don't believe that you have given birth to three daughters.

Terfulike · 28/05/2018 22:26

The gender Fluids can go to the Laydees when they get bored of SW.
