Come on, you wonderful women, I’m making a last push here to invite you down to Truro, Cornwall. Come and hear Posie Parker, Miranda Yardley, Jean Hatchet and Judith Green speak. You know you want to....

Tickets still available at Eventbrite

Exactly. That's what this whole thing is about.

Yep. At least one of those posters is anti gender critical.

They don't want the chance to speak Sarah, they just want to disrupt the meeting.

Exactly. That's what this whole thing is about.

ToeToToe · 01/06/2018 18:40

We do have a fourth slot open, so technically we can have Jean and someone else. smile

Even better - Jean should speak.

I bumped jeans offer in the other thread, but they are still kicking lumps out of each other. So it will likely be overlooked which is a shame.

Ereshkigal · 01/06/2018 18:32

I'll join you all in a Wine.

Writersblock2 · 01/06/2018 18:32

Toe Keep on!

Head not heard* ahhh...

OP posts:
Writersblock2 · 01/06/2018 18:31

My heard hurts! Confused
On the bright side, I’ve always been fabulous at digging my heels in. So I just feel a bit like some tree that has its roots in deep, and I’m being buffeted and blown about by the storm, but I’ll still be here when it has passed.

We do have a fourth slot open, so technically we can have Jean and someone else. :)

I'm that close to giving up on the whole thing, tbh, Sweary. Except that's what "they" want, and I'm a stubborn old bird, so I won't.

We'll just wait for the fight to blow over, sweep up in the morning Wink Wine

SwearyG · 01/06/2018 18:05

Suns over the yardarm ToeToToe so I’ll join you in the Wine

I PM’d you Science to let you in on our travel plans.

The other thread is quite distressing isn’t it? I am quite disheartened by today.

ToeToToe · 01/06/2018 18:02

Nice one, Jean.

Someone earlier suggested Lucy Masoud - I know she's in London, but I think there are people travelling from London already?

They're still tearing each other's throats out on the other thread, (playing right into the misogynist's hands - they love to get the women fighting) so I'm not sure anyone noticed your post...

Good luck to all involved Wine

Jeanhatchet · 01/06/2018 17:51

I'm offering both my spot on the platform and my booked room to any woman of colour who would like to speak instead of me. I've already paid for the room and any woman would be welcome to
It. I'll drive down to listen to you and then drive home. Please don't take this as anything other than a wish to show that I feel that if a woman of colour has concern that some women may feel excluded from the debate on laws around gender identity then they should have access to go and express that frustration and hopefully also go and talk about their specific concerns about gender self-identification.

Have posted this on both threads. As not sure which one people are reading and would very much like a woman to take this up.

ScienceIsTruth · 01/06/2018 17:32

@SwearyG, think we met at the one in Oxford; if you or any friends are attending it might be possible for me to give a lift, even just one way (as I'd be staying overnight). Just need to make sure I can still book a premier inn and get a ticket before committing.Grin

Writersblock2 · 01/06/2018 17:04

No. Unfortunately Miranda can’t attend (for a completely unrelated reason) but I have spoken to him and he supports this event and has expressed interest in attending another event (if we can make it that far Grin)

OP posts:
pickledparsnip · 01/06/2018 16:30

Is Miranda coming to the new event?

Writersblock2 · 01/06/2018 16:00

Hi Science - it’s going ahead, yes.

OP posts:
SwearyG · 01/06/2018 15:57

A new event has been planned on the same night, Science - details (and bunfight) on new thread here

ScienceIsTruth · 01/06/2018 15:37

Will this definitely be going ahead? It's just that it's over 300 miles from where I live, so I'd be driving a long way (about 6 hrs) and then staying over somewhere and going back the next day.

I'd really love to attend, but don't want the money wasted if it doesn't, iykwim.

BeyondSceptical · 31/05/2018 16:23

Another bump and an agreement with that ^

LangCleg · 31/05/2018 15:34

I know the WPUK women I’ve been directly involved with are burning out. They have worked very hard and have made a massive dent in bringing issues to public awareness. Whether we agree or disagree with the way this has been handled, I think it’s important to note the great work they have done.

Couldn't agree more.

Writersblock2 · 31/05/2018 15:01

Lovely the hashtags. Sneaky bump while I’m here...
