Guess how I got suspended from the Labour Party?

IAmDavidLewis · 22/05/2018 23:17

Well, one of the weirdest days in my life concluded with me receiving a letter informing me of my immediate suspension from the Labour Party. They believe I may have breached the rules by subverting the intention of All Women Shortlists, Women’s Officers or minimum quotas for women. Unfortunately, this does mean that my political ambitions are on hold for a while. I shall of course be continuing to self-identify as a woman every Wednesday, as that is my gender identity...

I have to say a huge thanks to @namechangeah for all her help, guidance and, more importantly, proof-reading! I wouldn’t have gotten to this point without it. I’d also like to thank everyone for their support today. I hope this has helped a bit.

And the Telegraph called me an “activist”! Achievement unlocked Grin

SMG, where did you find out that the Mexico candidates claiming to be trans but aren't is fake news? Genuinely interested as every report I've seen (and there have been several) have said it was real.

For any person who claim it's transphobic btw, there are two genuine trans candidates (if it is a genuine story) and no one is objecting at all to their being there as it is a female or transwomen short list.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/05/2018 20:54

In terms of AWS, a question you only need to ask in the bizarre wold of Scaremongery Transphobia

I don't understand this reply, I'm sorry.

Are you saying that you don't need to be able to distinguish between the two?

SupermatchGame · 23/05/2018 20:54

Define 'genuine trans woman'?

Don't need to. David Lewis wasn't one. That's the point, you don't need to define it because he didn't get onto an AWS, and never would.

believe they're a woman on their woman days?

But is Bunce actually trying to access women only shortlists?

Again it's the question that answers itself isn't it.

Bowlofbabelfish · 23/05/2018 20:52

if you have to write anything as part of your job, ask a nearby male to proofread your work so it isn't overly emotional so you don't embarrass yourself professionally.

Use a bic LadyPen. For ladies.

(Read the reviews..)

Bowlofbabelfish · 23/05/2018 20:50

I would love a scone. Any clotted cream by any chance?

gendercritter · 23/05/2018 20:49

David I do just want to warn you there might be a few unpleasant ramifications to being a woman on Wednesdays.

Writer Jane Williams has a bi-gender partner. On the days they're female, She drives the car differently, is less confident and less assertive. When she writes and expresses herself it comes from the heart, he is more guarded, defensively upbeat and economical with his words

Just be careful. If you're going to drive on Wednesdays, perhaps ask a man if he will chaffeur you instead. If you have to write anything as part of your job, ask a nearby male to proofread your work so it isn't overly emotional so you don't embarrass yourself professionally. I just don't want this to affect you too negatively, with the sacrifices you're already making.

SupermatchGame · 23/05/2018 20:48

Why on earth wouldn’t they welcome debate and awareness?

I do Bowl. That's why I'm here mostly only reading and responding to those whose views I don't agree with. I think in my original post I said it had achieved clarification from the Labour party. That's a good thing!
Now everyone can see what is going on, as you say.

Ereshkigal · 23/05/2018 20:47

I hope certain people step on a logos.

Ereshkigal · 23/05/2018 20:47

Neither being gender critical nor being aware that your sex is male nor means that you can't be trans.

Miranda Yardley for instance is an example of a gender critical trans person.

MissSusanSays · 23/05/2018 20:46

Ah, glad to be of service Ereshkigal

I feel like the flippin' gas man at the moment. What with all these gas leaks.

What ever we say, whatever evidence we present will be 'fake news'.

Too much pathos and not enough logos. That's what it is. I despair.

merrymouse · 23/05/2018 20:46

(oops, extra 'nor' there)

Ereshkigal · 23/05/2018 20:45

What about the delightful man who has stood before as a man but now they are a woman they need to be on a AWS because they are a woman even though they have already stood as a man thereby taking away a place from an actual woman who has actually been at a disadvantage - through actually being a woman? Not a stunt? Right.

Yep. That.

merrymouse · 23/05/2018 20:44

What is a fake trans woman?

I'm not clear what the difference is between David and for instance Pip Bunce or Eddie Izzard, except that he/she is gender critical. Neither being gender critical nor being aware that your sex is male nor means that you can't be trans.

TERFragetteCity · 23/05/2018 20:43

TERFragette whatever you say, you know this is not a genuine trans woman.

Define 'genuine trans woman'?

gendercritter · 23/05/2018 20:43

This utter farce brings the Inquisition to mind. People being interrogated and tortured, with some trying to prove that yes they really really did actually believe something ridiculous in order to avoid being put to death. Ultimately it's impossible to prove if someone is sincere in their belief or not. And it's ridiculous. Does Pip Bunce really truly, cross their heart and hope to die, believe they're a woman on their woman days? Is it the fishnet tights which demonstrate sincerity? If not, what?

TERFragetteCity · 23/05/2018 20:43

And regardless of his motivation, there aren't any men trying to stand on a Labour all women shortlist, only him - doing a stunt.

What about the delightful man who has stood before as a man but now they are a woman they need to be on a AWS because they are a woman even though they have already stood as a man thereby taking away a place from an actual woman who has actually been at a disadvantage - through actually being a woman? Not a stunt? Right.

SupermatchGame · 23/05/2018 20:42

TERFragette whatever you say, you know this is not a genuine trans woman. He pretended to be one for a day a week as a stunt. It hasn't actually happened for real. That is the point. No contradiction. Clear and consistent.

Ereshkigal · 23/05/2018 20:41

Susan Grin

Though you have just reminded me that I have a leftover scone and all the necessary toppings.

SupermatchGame · 23/05/2018 20:40

But it is happening elsewhere

What is happening elsewhere? Men pretending to be trans women and getting caught out you mean, because it is obvious they're not trans women?

They knew that 17 of the 19 candidates presented as transgender — some dressed as muxes — weren’t really part of the community.
On Tuesday, the state electoral institute said it was investigating the case. The candidates could be barred from running and their parties fined.

More fake news.

TERFragetteCity · 23/05/2018 20:40

Aah SMG - you have just contradicted yourself so many times I really don't know where to begin!

He has a female identify but he doesn't but we all know he hasnt but nobody needs to ask any questions but genuine trans women can but they can't because this because that because whatevers.

You crack me up.

merrymouse · 23/05/2018 20:39

there aren't any men trying to stand on a Labour all women shortlist, only him - doing a stunt.

How are you defining 'man' here?

As mentioned before, I am not clear what the criteria are for being a woman's officer.

Ereshkigal · 23/05/2018 20:39

In the real world everyone knows you don't have a female gender identity, because there aren't actually any men or fake trans women applying to be on Labour all women shortlists

Lol Grin ever thought of starting a knockabout comedy two piece with SarahAR?

MissSusanSays · 23/05/2018 20:38

Anyone want a scone? I cooked them in my gas oven, powered by gas lighting.

SupermatchGame · 23/05/2018 20:37

Transplants

No I get the point. I suspect the Labour Party were only too well aware of his motivation. And regardless of his motivation, there aren't any men trying to stand on a Labour all women shortlist, only him - doing a stunt. Because other than transphobic people pulling stunts, it hasn't happened.

and yet they thought that entirely irrelevant to the job at hand

You don't actually know what they thought.

Now all those people who didn't have a clue about this know that a man, for whatever reason, is eligible to take a woman's job

A man isn't eligible to take a woman's job. Now everyone will see that it is only transphobic people trying to prove a point that think men will be eligible to take women's jobs.

merrymouse · 23/05/2018 20:34

In terms of AWS, a question you only need to ask in the bizarre wold of Scaremongery Transphobia.

On what basis would you assume that everybody applying for a political position is nice?
