Misgendering is 'illegal' and boys who ID as girls can now share bedrooms with girls on school trips

As if the Girl Guiding farce wasn't enough....

"Children as young as four are being asked by their 'trans-friendly' primary school to inform on anyone calling transgender pupils by the 'wrong' pronoun.

The policy at Arbury Primary in Cambridge states that it is 'illegal' to call someone 'he/she' or 'it' against their wishes."

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5748821/Children-young-4-told-head-teacher-tell-pupils-misgender-classmates.html

In same article....

"Male pupils at some Welsh schools who believe they are girls will be allowed to share dormitories with female students during trips away.

The diktat has been issued by the local authority for the Vale of Glamorgan as part of new guidance for secondary and primary schools.

In a ‘Transgender Inclusion Toolkit’, launched last month, schools are advised: ‘As far as possible, trans pupils and students should be able to sleep in dorms appropriate to their gender identity.’

Bob Penrose, the Vale of Glamorgan Council cabinet member for learning and culture, said: ‘The guidance is appropriate and practical, but it is only guidance. How schools seek to use it is a matter for head teachers and governing bodies who will be free to use other resources as they see fit.’

@AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth another grammar Nazi/troll

Rather than engage in meaningful debate they chose to dig at people who didn't get the education that they should have because their parents didn't let them go to school

So F you

Current discussion about update to Girl Guides has overlapping points with this thread:

Genetic women isn't any less offensive than cis women, by the way.

missbonita · 21/05/2018 11:54

I feel very shocked about the whole situation. The transboys change in the girls changing room and use the girls toilets (there are 3 trans boys at the school) and so does the transgirl. I don't understand the logic to this. I also don't understand why no one else can see what I can.

Your writing should be a hate crime against grammar.

If you want to be understood, here's a tip: Punctuate!

Ignorance really amuses me misgending people isn't illegal, the use if offensive words would be a hate crime but he or she isn't, people mistaken the gender of genetic woman all the time there is no specific legislation that says the use of he or she to misgender someone is illegal and even if there was no one can prove that it wasn't an accident or by mistake because it's not done with malice I wouldn't get offended if someone misgenderes me, sure people don't like but they don't go on about it.

Thewhale2903 · 21/05/2018 10:19

Brave actions? She assaulted another student!
I'm sorry but girls toilets are for girls and boys toilets for boys for a reason.
This will be so hard for young women going through puberty. Imagine a boy in the toilet cubical next to you at school or anywhere else they maybe! Also are females now permitted to use the boys toilets?

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 21/05/2018 10:11

'Hate Speech'? This is such bullshit. So a young girl complained that a male pupil was in the toilets, he hit her and she was punished? I swear to God, I would raise Holy Hell if this had happened to my daughter. This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better if these things are being ignored

At our local comprehensive (Yorkshire) a year 11 trans girl recently slapped/hit a year 10 girl for misgendering him - from what I understand the girl was complaining about the trans girl being in the girls toilets. They were both excluded - the girl for ‘hate speech’ the trans girl for slapping another pupil. The fact that a male bodied teenager had assaulted a female bodied student was not mentioned or discussed at any time. The weight of empathy from staff/pupils is all with the trans girl who is martyred on instagram/Facebook etc for her ‘brave’ actions.

If you went to the Cambridge WPUK meeting (November?), you'll remember someone from the audience who spoke in favour of transing kids. She's an employee of Kite Trust.

AngryAttackKittens · 21/05/2018 09:53

So "illegal" has now been added to the list of words the definition of which is "whatever is most convenient at the time"?

Thewhale2903 · 21/05/2018 09:52

Sorry that was a post about nothing really just me rambling on!Grin

Thewhale2903 · 21/05/2018 09:46

I am a childminder, mostly work with young children but have an older son who is 9. All of my young children that I've had through my door play with all toys prams, dolls, cars, kitchens. At this age children don't really understand gender they just do what they want to do because they like it and it's fun. That's totally normal.
My older son has a group of friends that he plays with. There are some girls and some boys, when they split and go into their grips of boys and girls to go off and do their own thing one little girl always goes with the boys. She plays Xbox with the boys, she choses to go ride about on her bike with the boys, plays football with them etc. This doesn't make her a boy, she is very much a girl and doesn't consider herself a boy. It would be very inappropriate if anyone tried to convince her she was.
When I was younger I loved playing with "boys toys" as I grew up I became more "girlie" although I still to this day hate wearing dresses and I wouldn't say I am an extremely feminine woman but I am definitely a woman.
Just because someone doesn't conform to the stereotypical male or female roles doesn't mean they have been born the wrong gender or don't have a gender. I think identifying people as men and women is very important.

thebewilderness I just had a quick flick through that document I'll read properly later. But I am Shock Sad and Angry

I have 2 Dds so good chance this happens to one or both AngrySad

But males and their feelings are so much more important

thebewilderness · 20/05/2018 17:16

How many girls do you reckon will be going to school past the age of 16 in a few years? It is already such a hostile environment for girls that it is considered an urgent problem by the Women & Equalities Committee. They are going to pour gasoline on that particular fire and require all students to call it water.

BlackeyedSusan · 20/05/2018 15:19

My poor, poor autistic children are going to find this really difficult if it starts being the norm in their schools.

IrmaFayLear · 20/05/2018 15:16

It’s Interesting to read the comments underneath the linked Guardian article - very polarised. Rather alarming that a number of comments yelling “transphobia” purport to be from teachers.

Moonkissedlegs · 20/05/2018 15:07

See this is where I am confused in the trans agenda.

Remember a few months ago when Lewis Hamilton put that video up of his nephew and said 'boys don't wear dresses'. All the woke trans activist types were all over it, saying how wrong it is that boys should be told they can't wear dresses (I agree) and Lewis Hamilton is 'bigoted' or whatever.

But that is exactly what this shit seems to be pedalling. Children as young as 4 cannot know about 'gender identity' etc, at that age its just all stereotypes, and surely we should be working to say 'yes, you can wear that dress, even though you are a boy'.

I am a primary teacher and have taught several what you would probably call 'gender non conforming' girls. Only want to play with the boys, like playing football, don't get involved in the girls dramas etc. All of them have been really happy in their own skin, most of them have actually grown up to be fairly 'girlie girls' in the end from what I have heard.

It makes me really sad and angry that if those girls went to this school, all sorts of ideas about them being 'trans' or whatever would be being bandied about.

MimpiDreams · 20/05/2018 14:57

My 5 year old DS asked me if he was a girl the other day. Some random woman in soft play told him he was a girl because he has long hair. He told he he was a boy but she apparently said no he wasn't because boys don't have long hair. Angry

MistressDeeCee · 20/05/2018 14:55

But even if put on the main board, will.people take notice? Threads about this kind of thing just seem to peter out. Worth a try tho I suppose. Isn't MN being monitored by Twitter bods who scour the boards now for anything they deem inappropriate?

It's confusing trying to work out what's going on. How have a small group of people managed to (s) contain this and (b) dilenceilliond of women collectively?

I truly cannot gety head around this at all.

The only hope I have is that if all this becomes mainstream AND people actually notice, then men will put a stop to all this for fear of their precious young daughters being at risk of the dreaded s.e.x. & also their wives in danger from opportunistic perves who could easily stick on a dress and have access to their own peep show.

Sadly I think men will be the driving factor here, not women. When and if they notice, that is.

Terfulike · 20/05/2018 14:49

sorry purrrrrfect went to park with kids. no i haven't complained. i was thinking of asking for policy on all this at the parent's evening next week. will take some literature to counter likely mermaids lesson plans.

PuttinOnTheRitzCracker · 20/05/2018 14:41

This is a problem on so many levels I wouldn't even know where to start.

There is undeniably a huge element of social contagion with this stuff and I don't think it's appropriate for four-year-olds to have to consider it.

Telling small children that accidentally calling someone he/she instead of she/he is illegal is fucking disgusting. That will strike terrible fear into a small child.

Both of the above: multiply by one hundred for autistic children.

Agree that this needs to go on a main board.

Did you see the bit about the YHA at the bottom of the daily fail article? Guess I'll never stay in a group YHA room again, shame as they're affordable Sad tbh it's not transwoman I'm worried about it's opportunistic nasty men. Even if there was no sexual assault risk I'd still feel very stripped of my dignity.

Wanderabout · 20/05/2018 14:39

headmaster Ben Tull advocated his trans-friendly policy in a previous interview, saying: 'It is really important that a school is ready for anyone who walks in.

'For children at primary level, the more we can do to non-stereotype them the better. We steer away from the binary model.'

How could you get more binary than telling someone who 'feels like' the opposite gender to change their name as though they are now the opposite sex?

Terfing · 20/05/2018 14:34

I think this article needs to be posted on the main boards. It will soon affect a lot of parents!

MistressDeeCee · 20/05/2018 14:29

Boys will sleep with girls and should anything untoward happen it's teachers who will fall on that sword as a he scapegoats.

I feel sorry for parents with school aged DCs.

& frankly it's frightening that all this is going over everyone'd head. I do not have a single real life friend who even talks about this. People don't know. I only see commentary on MN.

A small group of the monied and privileged are, as ever, getting their way. & the majority of people are so caught up in Brexit and politics and being utterly distracted by social media, that the real life issues are passing them by. Madness.
