Uneducated?? No.

Ignorant?? Maybe

I just have 0 idea. I read about it a lot but most goes over my head because I've never really read into it to understand it enough.

Doesn't work all that well for me AllyMcBeagle, I hear either one or the other at different viewings/listenings. Just started a thread in Chat about it since I was reminded of it here and haven't seen a thread about it yet.

MIdgebabe · 18/05/2018 21:45

It's given me cap in hand by the proclaimers

AllyMcBeagle · 18/05/2018 21:41

But have you seen the brainstorm/green needle one?

OMG I've just googled this and my mind is blown!

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 18/05/2018 21:41

What would you like to know, OP? What bits are you reading about a lot that you are struggling to comprehend?

CardsforKittens · 18/05/2018 21:41

I hear laurel but everyone else in my family hears yanny (autocorrect tried to change that to YANBU).

MrsCD67 · 18/05/2018 21:40

Why google it when you could just make a thread asking mumsnet eh? Hmm

AllyMcBeagle · 18/05/2018 21:38

Nah mate, what's really confusing is magnets.

Oh god you've got that song in my head!

I hear laurel, really don't understand how you can hear anything else?

But have you seen the brainstorm/green needle one?

MIdgebabe · 18/05/2018 21:32

I think some of the difference is that people talk about equality in a sort of abstract sense. As a good thing. Whereas feminists tend to have a focus on a specific aspect of equality that has impacted them directly. Which makes it more nitty gritty and hence may seem like Agro to someone who expects a genteel self reassuring conversation that simply serves to assert their self worth.

Stinkywink · 18/05/2018 21:32

Feminism is equality for women because we are oppressed by a patriarchal system. Men already have superiority given to them by a system which makes them privileged, so they don't need an equality. Similar idea as to why we don't need a "Straight Pride" or #whitelivesmatter

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 18/05/2018 21:31

Your OP is Bull. What do you want? Are you asking us to educate you? Hang about, we do that lots

ReluctantCamper · 18/05/2018 21:31

I've absolutely no idea how Ed Shearan is a rich and successful popstar.

I've absolutely no idea why Mrs Brown's boys is a popular TV program.

I've absolutely no idea how to get DS1 to practice his times tables.

can you help with any of these OP? You may as well make yourself useful now you're here.

spontaneousgiventime · 18/05/2018 21:24

I smell BS.

Weezol · 18/05/2018 21:23

Google is your friend Grin

ArtBrut · 18/05/2018 21:21

There you are, OP. You can start a little self-education group with the equally baffled bluesky

Cwenthryth · 18/05/2018 21:21

LAUREL

thebewilderness · 18/05/2018 21:21

I hear Ruh Roh.

Crashbangwhatausername · 18/05/2018 21:20

I hear laurel, really don't understand how you can hear anything else?

blueskypink · 18/05/2018 21:19

Well I'm with you op. I don't know what the difference is between equality and feminism. Other than the fact that people generally seem able to talk about equality in a calm, non-aggressive way. Whereas I find that's not the case with feminism. - which is why I tend to steer clear of threads about it - can't stand the aggro.
And no, I'm not a man. And yes, I do totally support equality between the sexes.

thebewilderness · 18/05/2018 21:19

Feminism is the political movement for the liberation of women.
You're welcome.

AngryAttackKittens · 18/05/2018 21:17

My DH hears laurel. Should I be concerned?

Cwenthryth · 18/05/2018 21:16

I don’t understand cricket. Or why videos of people unpacking shopping bags and talking about what they’ve “picked up” are so popular on YouTube.

OlennasWimple · 18/05/2018 21:13

I get feminism but I can't understand how anyone can hear "laurel" when it's clearly "janny"

Writersblock2 · 18/05/2018 21:11

What about fathead pizza dough? Oh my gawd.

AngryAttackKittens · 18/05/2018 20:54

Anyone have any recipes they'd like to share?
