Lily Madigan - to celebrate 300 women leaving LP with a party

The facebook event now seems removed, but Feminist Current does have the screenshot before it disappeared.

Constituency Labour Party Women’s Officer for Rochester and Strood, Lily Madigan, a trans-identified male, plans to host a party to celebrate women leaving the Labour Party in protest of Labour’s policy allowing men to self-identify their way onto all women candidate shortlists.

(Sorry if this one has been posted before, I looked, but could not see a matching thread)

I am posting this to illustrate that TRAs do not want to join 'Class Woman', but to take over 'Class Woman' and throw out the existing inhabitants, then celebrate their victory over women (eg 'enjoy your erasure'). This is why 'we cannot get along' and have zero in common with them.

I'd like an autochillies option.

Ereshkigal · 16/05/2018 00:57

now it's 'let everyone in who IDs as a woman in there'.

With the likes of Pips Bunce, it's actually "let everyone who IDs as a woman certain times, when they feel it" in there.

Ereshkigal · 16/05/2018 00:54

Gender fluid=fancy term for transvestite/crossdresser.

Yes, no argument there Poula!

LaSqrrl · 16/05/2018 00:52

Every inch you give, another 3 are taken.
A tried and tested, reliable strategy, for absolutely sure.

I mean come on, the toilet thing, first it was 'let all legit TW into the women's changing rooms' - now it's 'let everyone in who IDs as a woman in there'.

Grin at autocorriander

I like autocoriander Grin Grin

I think autooregano would be better though, when making a ratatouille, for example.

AnotherQuoll · 16/05/2018 00:34

*autocoriander.."could be" = could've.

AnotherQuoll · 16/05/2018 00:27

Tbh, I'm also little confused because I honestly could be sworn we were only recently told it was ok to speak normally in here, because it's a Feminist board.

It's just commonsense, like, TRAs are free to use "cs" on their own boards, (and tell complaining outsiders to rack off) but here "cs" and "t*rf" is unacceptable. And we shouldn't have compelled speech on boards existing so we can discuss our -female- liberation. It's too sadly ironic.

ToeToToe · 16/05/2018 00:02

Yes, 'they" is clearly misgendering a transwoman whose pronoun of choice would be 'she'.

They tends to be used by non-binary types - hence the - er- person in a mask screaming at Posie "She?! You fucking cunt, my pronouns are they!" in Bristol.

We can get around it on MN by just using initials - but for how long?

I can currently say "I think LM is bringing the Labour Party into disrepute by LM's constant tweeting against women and gloating about women leaving the Party" - but that is clearly misgendering too, because I am clearly not using LM's preferred pronoun.

It won't be long - mark my words.

Every inch you give, another 3 are taken.

LaSqrrl · 15/05/2018 23:32

Oh, and proposed 'workaround' of using 'they' is also incorrect (according to trans), they want, and only want 'she'. So in effect, the workaround is also 'misgendering'. Hmm

OP posts:
LaSqrrl · 15/05/2018 23:29

This whole 'preferred pronoun' thing is rather silly, especially with the 'gender fluid' under the trans umbrella. There is no editing of posts here, so a pronoun used one day, is misgendering® the next!

It is scary in there!

Waddlelikeapenguin · 15/05/2018 23:09

Haha, i went in there last week by accident & backed out quickly - people were so mean to each other!

JoanSummers · 15/05/2018 23:05

I'm not brave enough to go into aibu.. !

Waddlelikeapenguin · 15/05/2018 23:04

A thread in AIBU asking if we should be correctly sexing Huntley would be erm... colourful Grin

JoanSummers · 15/05/2018 23:04

I'm wondering if we should continue as @terfulike started on page 6. Single posts naming individual male people as he. So we can see who is on the special list of enforced lady pronouns, and who is not. If we keep a list it will be much easier to be good girls rather than mean girls.

ToeToToe · 15/05/2018 23:00

Bloody hell, yes. It should be posted that every time there's a deletion for correct gendering of a person.

"Blasphemy!"

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 15/05/2018 22:51

Toe

It is.

I think we should adopt it for the crime of misgendering. Between that and the 'Loretta' sketch, The Life of Brian was rather phophetic

LaSqrrl · 15/05/2018 22:50

It seems like some moderation decisions are being based on twitter reactions but who really knows.

LOL, do we have to go over to twitter to find our deleted comments? All a bit bizarre - if they still stand over there, and get blitzed here.

WTFuckery.

ToeToToe · 15/05/2018 22:45

Assigned - that clip is perfect in so many ways.

JoanSummers · 15/05/2018 22:43

My posts 'misgendering' Ian Huntley are still up. Now that's a minefield, but it isn't ours!

JoanSummers · 15/05/2018 22:41

Ah thanks AssignedPurrrfect. That seemed like a derail to me. I didn't get any message about it at all. Wondering why they didn't just delete the messages that upset them.

I don't think Jenner would give a shit tbh. Lives in Y's (ha!) own world which is a bazillion miles from any of ours.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 15/05/2018 22:34

Jehova! Jehova!

Tiredemma · 15/05/2018 22:34

I'm 40 and have voted Labour since 18. I can't vote for them again. This is just ridiculous.

AnotherQuoll · 15/05/2018 22:32

Seems my comment was deleted for "deliberately" using the correct ("non-preferred") pronouns of a sexist who calls us "cis" and "trash". As if I was going out of my way, rather than just speaking normally, in everyday, standard English. As if the alternative, lying about that person's sex (or hiding it) and a lifetime of speaking ordinary English; using "she" for females and "he" for males, would be something other than "deliberate". Like it's utterly normal and doesn't actually require me to go out of my way have to mangle language, or give me cognitive dissonance to pretend someone isn't the sex we all know them to be.

I "deliberately" didn't lie. Alrighty then...

whyaresquishiesnotsquishy · 15/05/2018 22:31

JoanSummers ha, that's brilliant, thanks :)
