Lily Madigan - to celebrate 300 women leaving LP with a party

The facebook event now seems removed, but Feminist Current does have the screenshot before it disappeared.

Constituency Labour Party Women’s Officer for Rochester and Strood, Lily Madigan, a trans-identified male, plans to host a party to celebrate women leaving the Labour Party in protest of Labour’s policy allowing men to self-identify their way onto all women candidate shortlists.

(Sorry if this one has been posted before, I looked, but could not see a matching thread)

I am posting this to illustrate that TRAs do not want to join 'Class Woman', but to take over 'Class Woman' and throw out the existing inhabitants, then celebrate their victory over women (eg 'enjoy your erasure'). This is why 'we cannot get along' and have zero in common with them.

Ian Huntley is as much of a woman as Lily Madigan.

I don't think anyone can dispute that statement.
(Though they might delete it.)

LaSqrrl · 17/05/2018 22:45

The US TRAs (like Cox) champion the 'rights' of incarcerated woman/child killers with ladyfeels, so I imagine they are supported elsewhere, maybe just a bit more stealth? Certainly it was rather quick to get these ladyfeels incarcerated into female estates...

Well that is ridiculous. Either there is a rule, or there isn’t. You can’t have a rule for one person that doesn’t apply to another.

OlennasWimple · 17/05/2018 18:16

I notice that women are calling Ian Huntley by his male name and using male pronouns but those posts remain up

My guess is that MNHQ decide how much trouble it will be worth to leave up a post vs taking it down. So we know that SF and LM quiver about the "literal violence" and make Twitter threads about how mean the vipers are, whereas IH is presumably not reading much of this and for some reason TRAs don't seem to want to bang the drum on his behalf. I wonder why that is? Hmm

CIS = Compliant Individual Signalling

Some of them would be building the bonfires right now if they thought they could get away with it.

Bowlofbabelfish · 17/05/2018 08:49

Ah, cis.

My loathing of the use of that word by TRAs knows no bounds. It’s correctly used in stereochemistry, and (along with trans) in genetics to describe whether a genetic control element is close to or far from the gene it acts on. To use it to describe a woman is grossly offensive.

Imagine a term you use a lot in your professional life being misused like that. It just makes the user look like an ignorant fool.
This use of language as a brickbat is very concerning to me. It echoes so many dystopian visions of the future. These people would have been burning women as witches back in the day - the hatred runs deep.

TerfsUp · 17/05/2018 08:27

Good lord. It's taken me two days to figure out what c*s means. I think my caffeine levels need adjusting.

JoanSummers · 16/05/2018 08:09

Fekko - it would be so helpful to have a journalist in a big but reputable mainstream paper to make a point of using correct pronouns, inside an article about how women are being forced not to use correct pronouns or correctly identify men and women in places like mumsnet. A kind of come at me bro sort of thing. Stressing how bad the impact is on women in particular and bringing up the glaringly obvious cases of males like Huntley, and the hypocrisy of special protection being given to those driving witchhunts on twitter.

They would have to be willing to stand their ground and have a reputation that it would be difficult to just dismiss them as a right winger or a bigot. It would be riskier for a female journalist than a male one. Several journalists and media people signing an open letter about their and our freedoms to speak truthfully specifically on this subject would be brilliant. Is anyone brave enough to do it? I can think of some who I think would sign, who have already put themselves out there.

I've looked thru the ipso code thing on trans (the list of orgs to get advice from is something!) and I don't see anything to stop correct and honest gendering and naming. Is there another set of guidelines to look at?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 16/05/2018 07:43

The funny thing is - most journalists I know, who furiously defend the right to free speech and debate - wouldn't be bullied into picking up shiny new trends and fashions. Will go up against scary people and organisations to show injustice, dirty doings and criminal activity.

But then they are 'proper' journalists and not trendy bandwagon blog babies.

JoanSummers · 16/05/2018 07:37

Andrew Gilligan did that artice recently about Justine being pressured by TAs. Would he defend our rights to use correct pronouns?

I know the press were lobbied by Trans groups like Trans media Watch into new guidelines on using preferred pronouns and calling men women when they want us be. Do you think some mainstream media could be at the point where they could be ready to ditch that?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 16/05/2018 07:35

Just report it. Every time. Repeatedly. Loudly.

Like the boys do. That works for them.

Trying to be a mature and considered poster and not do a trollish thing like waltz through the thread going ‘you’re a cs and you’re a cs, cs cs c*s!’ to see if it gets deleted. Which wouldn’t be productive or further the discussion in any helpful way.

I just wish there was a definitive moderation policy somewhere around pronouning and describing a person in terms of their sex, where it’s relevant, whether they are happy with said sex or not. Talk Guidelines as far as I can see don’t even mention it, and we’ve had 2 different steers quoted in this thread alone.

JoanSummers · 16/05/2018 07:30

If every one of us just used the correct pronouns what would happen? It would be too much to delete individual posts so threads would have to go I assume? How would mumsnet choose who to ban?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 16/05/2018 07:21

Is that c* or c**?

May identify as one though.

My 13 year old, although a stroppy teen at times, can do a very good impression of a grown up at times and have sensible discussions.

TERFragetteCity · 16/05/2018 07:05

LM is not a teen any more.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 16/05/2018 07:01

So why is mumsnet zapping posts that refer to a make born person with testicles (sometimes identified as a woman hater or child murder) as 'he'?

Are female born people without testicles (and with boobs) who are referred to as 'he' afforded the same 'courtesy'?

Can the zap people who use the offensive term 'cis' as I'm sure it pisses off/upsets/enraged far more people than 'he/she'.

Or is it just the testicles we don't want to offend?

Mumsnet - you do realise you are pandering to stroppy teen behaviour?

As the mum of a teen I can tell you, you are!! 'They' will just turn around and yell 'I hate you - you've ruined my life!!! Why can't you be like NetMums? I never want see you again. I wish I was dead!!!!!' Much slamming of doors and loud music.

IdentifiesAsMiddleAged · 16/05/2018 06:48

"She?! You fucking cunt, my pronouns are they!"

are?? Are??
I can't respect someone who has such poor grammar ....

AsAProfessionalFekko · 16/05/2018 06:22

Well, ElBisquito we have seen recently amazing teens in the US speaking out against gun laws.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 16/05/2018 06:21

Seriously - I got zapped for making a testicle joke sensible comment?

Sheesh. So a willy can be female then? Very odd.

In more news: the world is flat.

LaSqrrl · 16/05/2018 05:27

It depends how the cocktail weenies identify.
If they identify as lady fingers, they're golden!

OP posts:
ElBisquito · 16/05/2018 02:51

I'm not in the UK and I'm amazed that a teenager has any say whatsoever in the Labour party. I guess anything's possible now though in Trump's America, so we could get evil twerp teenagers in Congress any day now.

Oooh, party! Do you think there will be cheese and pineapple cubes on cocktail sticks?

Cocktail weenies are probably not on the menu, which is a shame.
