Transphobia or truths?

Hi there!

First, apologise if this has been really over discussed already.

I'm pretty new to the whole self ID and trans issues and pretty shocked to discover I'm probably classed as a "Radical" feminist.

How comes it's seen as transphobia when women talk about women's rights or sex or gender?

Perhaps I'm being naive, but I haven't seen anything i would class as transphobic on MN yet? Just a lot of feminists discussing their concerns for women and girls' rights?

Looking for answers so I can see both points of view but also so I can attempt to understand what is going on here.

Thanks x

Nooooo it's a million pages!!!

Lord, how many rules are there??

No. 11 is a bit ridiculous anyway (are they all like that?) because I think gender dysphoria is fairly well accepted as a condition - it's the treatment and drug programs we're questioning.

SupermatchGame · 13/05/2018 23:23

Let's see your working. I don't think that quite cuts it, do you? The quackery and the vested interests in the gender identity medical community are the issue here. I can recommend a good video which clarifies how it all works, but you'll need to look past the source.

All medical communities make money from treating people. Why do you single out transgender medicine?

I've seen the video and did respond to some of it on that thread. I will do more when I've got time.

Love it TERFragette Grin

BTW - do you have a link to the rules of transphobia? I've seen links to the Rules of Misogyny, but I can't find the ones for transphobia

11th Rule of Transphobia: All doctors benefit financially from treating medical conditions, but those treating gender dysphoria create the condition.

Why is there no recorded history of people needing drugs/surgery to match their personality before recently?

ToeToToe · 13/05/2018 23:05

Speaking about the medicalisation of children with gender dysphoria at a young age, and the private clinics that are set up to treat children, is not transphobia, SuperMatchGame. Why do you think it is?

SupermatchGame · 13/05/2018 23:00

"cash cow for who?"

Drugs cost money, and pharma companies want to sell them. Private gender clinics cost money, surgery costs money (not all is done on the NHS), trips to USA to see 'Indiana Jones', cost money. I don't think 'Indiana Jones' treats children for free.

What the actual fuck is a 'oeft'

Believe it or not i am actually in a good mood...bit tired though

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 13/05/2018 22:58

And when i went into the bookshop and the owner said 'the romance novels are on the oeft'

I should have said

I DONT HAVE A GENDER ...I CAN READ ANY FUCKING BOOKS I WANT YOU FUCKWIT

and smacked him round the back of the head with a stephen king...one of the big ones

AngryAttackKittens · 13/05/2018 22:58

Almost everyone fits under the current trans umbrella. I'm sure they'll find a way to sell something to those who have no current interest in medication eventually.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 13/05/2018 22:56

Cor that would have been bad if id put ' detective female' Grin

Or would it

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 13/05/2018 22:56

Very ophelia

And the thing is

Because i am not completely stupid (only partially you understand) i know that i got pregnant because i am of the sex that can

My lack of gender identity had fuck all to do with it

On the few occasions i have been (mildly) sexually assulted it was because of my sex...not lack of gender identity

Wheni was told at the age of 13 I couldn't be a fighter pilot (periods apparently???!!) it wasnt because I identified with a gender ...it's because the commander saw a female

When my periods were haywire as a child and i had fertility issues as an adult the doctor should have looked at me and said 'aaahhh that will be the fact they dont have a gender' not

Oooohhhhh DEFECTIVE FEMALE

SarahCarer · 13/05/2018 22:55

I have a gender imposed on me by others

Picassospaintbrush · 13/05/2018 22:54

Even transsexuals are rejecting the umbrella, and inviting people to join them in the rain

I find Agender, not having a gender being classified as a gender type quite ironic.

Me Too. I guess they were worried about appearing inclusive enough to satisfy everyone.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 13/05/2018 22:49

eresh

Its not even as if you have to be or do anything

Just a statement

I do not feel i have a gender identity

And boom!!! Im under the trans umbrella

Ereshkigal · 13/05/2018 22:47

Yes. I'm definitely agender. Because I don't identify with cis and don't have a gender identity. I'm just a boring woman.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 13/05/2018 22:46

Thought you'd gone to bed rat

Im off in a minute
