spontaneousgiventime · 07/05/2018 20:57

Would a name change appease them? Nope, nothing will appease them except total capitulation.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 07/05/2018 20:55

Apparently considering that trans ideology might be used against young gay people will 'harm all those trans people who struggle every day to even eat'. Confused

And clearly that parent was wrong. Or don't you think so?

I don't think it is my business particularly. Ask the family, or the police, or the CPS.

Amalfimamma · 07/05/2018 20:45

But we don't want to close down debate or silence women they cried

Good luck trying to get people told off in the USA for saying shit, Shelley. You might want to check your constitution:

Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances

We in the UK sadly have no such constitution (and I say that with genuine sadness.) so you are very welcome indeed to bring civil proceedings through our court system.

You will want to save your pennies first though, because such actions are a wee bit pricey over here.

OlennasWimple · 07/05/2018 19:31

I'm not on US servers (or UK servers)

You'd think if Shelly is in the US they'd realize that US libel laws are much more lax than those in the UK and the Trump goverment is far too busy dismantling as many government agencies as possible to worry about what Brits are saying on the internet.

Amalfimamma · 07/05/2018 19:12

Ladies let's not talk about any us citizens otherwise Shelly will hand our arses to us. On a silver unicorn plate. Understand them when they say!

... or even should be, incidentally.

Anyone facilitating genital reassignment surgery on a 16 year old is breaking the law in the UK

I didn't say otherwise - in the UK

It isn’t OK on any level - not ethically and not legally.

Clearly that parent took a different view.

And it is not done on the NHS.

Not on 16 year olds, no. I didn't say it is.

AngryAttackKittens · 07/05/2018 19:08

It's not legal at that age in Thailand any more either.

Bowlofbabelfish · 07/05/2018 19:07

One is an evidence based treatment for a recognised medical condition, gender dysphoria and is also commissioned by the NHS.

Not for 16 year olds it isn't. It’s illegal.
