@spontaneousgiventime re your post at 23:02, I don’t think it’s considered ok to use that c word anymore.

Tinycitrus · 07/05/2018 00:02

Tbh I think mumsnet does have to do something to let the talk boards ‘breathe’ for a bit.

I’ve been here 15 years - on and off - and I honestly think the chat on here is dire at the moment.

It’s either transgender hyperbole bollocks about how it’s erasing womankind and “ooooh look what some random idiot has said on Twitter..” or tedious nonsense like “why don’t people drive...?” “How do I wash my towels?”

I consider myself gender critical and agree there are issues that need to be discussed by women regarding the way gender has taken precedence over biological sex and the ramifications for biological women.

But after the last few weeks - I’m transgendered out TBH. Confused

If I was in charge of moderation on mumsnet I’d make it clear that this is not a democracy. It’s mumsnet’s chat and mumsnet decides what’s acceptable.

Mumsnet is not a human right, nor is it an emergency service nor is it the only way women as a class can organise politically.

Clear rules and robust moderation is required. Mumsnet decides the rules and stands by them. If users don’t like it they can fuck off.

And moderation via Twitter was just insanity.

I'm really looking forward to the next Marvel movie with Captain Marvel (staring Brie Larson).

She's rumoured to be the most powerful of the Avengers.

Think of all the brilliant memes we are going to get from that one movie 😀

Thanks Hebe.

Further to the crisis mode idea - maybe it would be good to have some ex-mods to call upon when the going gets tough?

Or maybe train up some 'mum-terns- for the future.

That freakin troll doesn't want respect they want submission.

Under Birds Eye!

ReluctantCamper · 06/05/2018 23:31

yup, it's just a repeat of what I said upthread OnTheList, but I'm right so I'll say it again Grin

either you're a user of the site, in which case it's being modded for you, so you absolutely should be able to report posts etc, or you're not on the site, in which case what business is it of yours?

Really, really (and one more time for luck) really bin the twitter reporting MNHQ. You cannot win with that.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/05/2018 23:30

Hah! It thought it was safe to wait until KateMumsnet announced she was signing off before starting it's nasty campaign.

It wasn't reckoning on HebeMumsnet lurking with her banhammer!

Oh, just in case it's still reading, when it comes to 'awful attitudes', Nothing2SeeHere, have a look at this

OnTheList · 06/05/2018 23:25

The mods do normally do a good job tbh. You don't notice good modding - it just sets a good tone. But the people they're modding for are us - the users of the site. To make this a pleasant place to be.

Yes I definitely agree with this. The mods are generally fantastic, and its very true that you do not notice good modding. Its just a few..odd decisions recently. But I can understand staff feeling under intense pressure and making mistakes. I do think that this new twitter report system thing is a terrible idea though, and will not be helping with the large workload that there no doubt is. I am a mod on a forum mayve 1/5th the size of this, and there is so much work for us to do, so I dread to think of the workload on a forum this large. Especially when there are endless reports from TRAs on top of that. We have not been targetted yet by transactivists, though I do think it may be soon, as we also allow gender critical discussion. Mind, our members are mainly male, so maybe we won't get hassled.

Went into loads of irrelevant shite there, but I just wanted to thank HQ, again. I know I have moaned a bit about modding recently but I do appreciate that its a hard job and sometimes wrong decisions are made as staff are human afterall. I just really do hope that the main bad decision that was made is reversed soon, else this will get a LOT worse.

leyat · 06/05/2018 23:25

Thanks @MNHQ

Aww, our little troll got banned.

Ereshkigal · 06/05/2018 23:12

Well hang on, how does this work is "Transwomen are women" then?

You don't get to tell us which issues we talk about.

Oh I missed that gem.

Fairenuff · 06/05/2018 23:10

Have you not seen the posts on here from some of your own users saying how awful the attitudes are when some people discuss transgender people.

There has been a recent influx of TRAs trying to discredit mn. Maybe that's what they are referring to?
