Posie: truthcrime harassment continues

Susie Green from Mermaids has appealed against the CPS decision not to pursue Posie.

Posie described truthfully what Susie Green did to her child in Thailand at the age of sixteen: surgery involving the removal of genitals, a decision so shocking to the Thai government they raised the age bar for such operations to 18.

A woman is being pursued and harassed for telling the truth. Can we show as much support as possible please.

Don't understand Pratchet. Can you explain?

It's a misuse of police time. I live in West Yorkshire and I am furious that scarce resources have been wasted investigating this nonsense. I might write to the police crime commissioner and ask how come they don't have time to investigate burglaries, but they do to pursue personal vendetta's on behalf of members of the public. It's absolutely disgraceful.

Pratchet · 06/05/2018 09:26

Assigned, doesn't that count as harassment. I reported anyway.

Quite aside from anything to do with Mermaids and/or Susie Green and her child, this worries me immensely. Posie is right to characterise it as a free speech rather than a trans issue.

Here's the points to prove for malicious communication:

www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/27/section/1

Is refusing to use a euphemism a message which is indecent or grossly offensive?

This is a slippery slope. Very slippery.

LizzieSiddal · 06/05/2018 09:21

Does Posie have any legal comeback once this whole thing is over? Could she sue for harassment for example?

She stated FACTS? How can anyone try to prosecute her for that!

How awful that Posie is being put through this.

I expect the CPS thought “WTF?” when reading the charge and justice will prevail.

I’d like to comment on Green’s state of mind, but I’d get deleted.

I find it shocking that mermaids are allowed into schools or near any children
I think parents would be shocked if they knew what Susie Green had done to her child
Let's hope this backfires and more people learn the dark side of mermaids

StarsAndWater · 06/05/2018 09:05

And much support to Posie. I can't remember what happened with the legal fundraiser, but if you do end up needing more support there, I'll be happy to contribute.

nauticant · 06/05/2018 09:05

Posie has my support.

StarsAndWater · 06/05/2018 09:03

This is the thing that's going to make more people realise what Mermaids actually is. Most women (including myself until recently) just think it's a charity that supports gender non-conformity children.
Green has lost the plot if she thinks prosecuting Posie is a good idea.
No matter how you say stuff like 'bottom surgery', it still involves the literal dictionary definition of 'castration'. All this is going to do is make more people realise what's behind the euphemisms.
The more publicity this gets, the more people are going to realise that Mermaids isn't what they thought it was.

Indeed. Support to Posie. She has serious courage

On the other hand, if it got to court, it would peaktrans the entire nation.

Pratchet · 06/05/2018 08:53

It's fascistic. If we don't support Posie, they'll come for us next and they'll come for our daughters.

She still has my support.

HubrisComicGhoul · 06/05/2018 08:50

Well she definately has my support. We need to stand up for women that speak out.
