How is endometriosis transphobic?

I've just been to see a play about endometriosis - which was actually rather funny and much better than the subject matter suggests. As I was leaving someone said to me "gosh that was really transphobic". And I'm struggling to work out why, unless it was because it was about women's bodies and framing endo as a women's issue?

Is it really that simple? That talk of periods, ovaries, uteruses and hysterectomies is transphobic? I know we often take the piss about it a bit on here but to hear it said earnestly has me more than a bit Hmm

Endometriosis sounds misogynist to me

MadBadDaddy · 03/05/2018 03:37

'Social Media Weaponised', they say

MadBadDaddy · 03/05/2018 02:58

If it's any consolation, I'm probably Transphobic too :(

In all honesty I checked out who the OP was because I wondered about trolls who post things that are so out there so they wll test the water..

The truth is that anything female will soon be transphobic
Sorry Sweary xx

FloraFox · 03/05/2018 02:03

A couple of years ago a production of The Vagina Monologues was cancelled because it was transphobic because anything that associates the female body with being a woman or being female is transphobic. Hmm

The world has gone abso fucking lutely mad. When am I going to wake up from this hideous nightmare?

I've been reading several threads on here tonight. This is my only conclusion. Sad&Angry

Mossandclover · 03/05/2018 00:54

Tracy how dare you! Logic is hate thought and transphobic.

auntycartmanslargertesticle · 03/05/2018 00:51

Feel a rule coming on....
6th rule of misogyny: Women who go around being female AT men by menstruating and breast feeding babies by suffering women's diseases deserve punishment.

AncientLights · 02/05/2018 23:34

So that person went to a see a play about endometriosis and expected what, I wonder? A play centering men I imagine. Pathetic.

LangCleg · 02/05/2018 23:24

Fish fingers aren't transphobic. So there's that, at least.

Ineedacupofteadesperately · 02/05/2018 23:23

If endometriosis is transphobic then all the MN campaigns about better postnatal care / birth injuries are transphobic too. That's why you've got to be a bit careful about giving an inch e.g. agreeing to use the biologically wrong pronouns (aka lying) to be "nice" in my view as it's a slippery slope....

noeffingidea · 02/05/2018 23:23

Ignore this shit. The person who said this is not relevant to your life in any way. Don't give them a second thought. Endometriosis exists and is a recognised medical condition and you are entitled to talk about it if you want to. If some people are upset or offended then that us their problem, not yours.

ReanimatedSGB · 02/05/2018 23:21

It seems as though quite a lot of this is, basically, students being students. Everything's so intensely intense and older people just don't understand. And they're so desperate to virtue signal that they have no idea how silly they sound.

SwearyG · 02/05/2018 23:19

It’s part of a feminist series at the theatre and was mostly feminist (missed on a couple of things imo) but is about raising awareness of endo, and talking about periods publicly. Really resonated on some things, which of course we’ve all (probably) been through but don’t talk about because periods are private and shameful. Or at least were when I were a lass.

GothMummy · 02/05/2018 23:15

Wow, I'm speechless! Endometriosis is many things....transphobic not being one of them. Its a horrific and poorly understood condition, was the play awareness raising?

Aeroflotgirl · 02/05/2018 23:10

Wow it's getting a joke now, that is why biological women are so angry at transactivism, everything is deemed transphobic now.

FermatsTheorem · 02/05/2018 23:08

My comment about non-prostate havers was tongue in cheek btw (terrifying that one now has to spell this out in this brave new world of lady peens and manginas).

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 02/05/2018 23:08

So if women are transphobic say some trans women.
Then surely that makes trans women transphobic too, as according to trans women they themselves are ‘real’ women?

Therefore trans women are transphobic too (according to their logic.)

DJLippy · 02/05/2018 23:07

It's really sad that conditions such as endometriosis which is such an un-diagnosed but life limiting condition is being sweeped under the carpet like this. We need to be talking more about these things! Only today the latest Tory scandal involved hundreds of women dying from faults due to breast cancer screening. Young women are going to avoid talking about this because it's 'transphobic?'

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 02/05/2018 23:06

This has been going on for quite some time now. EVERYTHING about the female body is transphobic. I left most of my fb groups and unliked pages (ones related to female medical issues/just women etc) because they had been taken over by the trans movement. We are not allowed to talk about any of it.

And the handmaidens are the biggest pill to swallow tbh

SwearyG · 02/05/2018 23:05

Well found, amazingpost - it was pretty good (for the most part). Tailed off towards the end.

OP posts:
DJLippy · 02/05/2018 23:04

It's transphobic because some men have wombs. Also, how sexist - reducing women to their body parts! STOP TALKING ABOUT YOUR STUPID CRIPPLING PAIN ITS LITERALLY KILLING ME

SwearyG · 02/05/2018 23:03

No wasn’t a joke, and it wasn’t someone who knows me. It was someone being very right on about it all. They were young and sincere and possibly NB? Short hair, androgenous, clearly female.

DH and I were boggling as they were so sincere about it. I couldn’t say anything effective so bravely (ha) changed the subject.

FermatsTheorem · 02/05/2018 23:03

Non-prostate havers, Zebra, if you please.

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 02/05/2018 23:01

Well it sounds like a good play and I would like to hear more about it.
