I have de-lurked (un-lurked?) after many many years to say this.
I can only read this board for a couple of weeks before needing to take a few months off in a repeating cycle it's so infuriating and frustrating that my blood pressure canna take it. How do you do it?

There so many amazing strong , clever and impressively persistent women here that I don't have enough hats to take off to you all.

The piss trolls, poo trolls, the patronising , the perverts, the needy, the narcissists and the downright nasty just keep coming and so many of you stay regardless to keep standing up for women.

I picture a line of those tennis ball launchers pounding out the misogyny one side of the net and Martina Navratilova and Serena Williams one the other. You just keep hitting them back with seemingly endless reserves of practice, patience and power.

Thank you. I love you. Hurrah to the women of FWR Mumsnet .

You have no idea how many THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of lurkers appreciate you. Never stop.

What a great thread OP, thank you for posting!

Also massive thank you to all the MNers who tirelessly post day after day, and never give up.

We should hold a FWR delurkers party with much Gin

I delurked a couple of months ago after reading FWR for a few months before that (I'd previously been on MN years ago when my kids were younger, but all kid-related stuff). I don't post that often, but I've learned SO much. Thanks to the brilliant posters on here, I've had enough courage & confidence to start talking about these issues IRL. When I started lurking, all I had was a strong gut feeling that the gender ideology propaganda I'd been exposed to in the media & on training courses was inconsistent, incoherent nonsense. Thanks to the brilliant posters on here though, although I've still got my L plates on, I've got facts & clear, cogent arguments to back me up. You're inspiring other women to be brave, and that's absolutely fucking awesome.

Flowers Flowers Flowers for all the amazing women of FWR!

insufficientlyfeminine · 03/05/2018 01:14

I haven't been to most of the internet's forums, but those I have been to are largely shit. This is the only place to get good, largely civil conversation, and it's all thanks to the regulars! You ladies are so amazing!

WanderinWomb · 03/05/2018 00:49

Delurking and starting this thread has been wonderful. Best thing I've done in ages.
Hello to all. Grin
There are so many reading this forum and feeling the same way as us. I think its the most popular after AIBU but with Mensa level company. x

De-lurk away.

Jump in you lot , the water is lovely

Welcome to the wonderful world of women’s voices, my lovely lurkers. I haven’t had the energy to post for a few days, but have been just reading and digesting. It can be exhausting just trying to find the right words to express how pissed off I am, with all the misogynistic crap that is being pushed on women now. I thought the 70s were bad, but the misogynists are just using a new method of doing the same old shit. Unfortunately they are getting support from the powers that be, now.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 03/05/2018 00:13

Hell hath no fury like a Mumsnetter de-lurking on the FWR boards!

It’s shit for your blood pressure but brilliant for your self-esteem. Come on in sisters and park your weary arses.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 02/05/2018 23:49

Thanks for this thread. Gin to all. Fuckers abound today. TRAs are getting very agitated. This means we are getting the truth out.

Welcome to all the lurkers. Stay and post, please. As you can see, MNers can be very very funny in the face of adversity. We need lots more laughing.

and Gin Lots of Gin

Hornets · 02/05/2018 23:45

Wow what a welcome. I will definitely try to start posting regularly on here now I've de-lurked!

Really great to see fellow lurkers waving too.

MadeinBelfast · 02/05/2018 23:35

I'm watching a local TV show and they are discussing gender-neutral language. I think it shows how much time I've spent reading this board when my first thought was 'What would Mumsnet think about this?' 🙂 Thanks for all the thoughts and discussions, it's nice to find intelligent ideas on this stuff.

ImPreCis · 02/05/2018 23:29

I’m going to have to post now. Been lurking for a while, and even posted quite a few times. I have name changed, just in case!
Totally in awe of the amazing women that post on here, you have removed the veil from my eyes and I can’t go back now. I am also so bloody angry, that I am having to something physical (housework) to calm down.

I have seen the light and now I can see the lights!

HesterShaw · 02/05/2018 23:07

Thank you FWR and MN for staying and persevering. I have started saying stuff in RL thanks to you.

BingBongSong · 02/05/2018 23:06

Thanks from me too. I've been on MN for what must be close to a decade and learned from the articulate and intelligent women on FWR and elsewhere on the board. I really do feel as if a war is being waged on women at the moment, and although the boards are being assaulted at the moment by activists wishing to shut us up, it still provides respite from the misogyny that is so prolific on social media and in the press.

I was thinking - this reminds me of (although seems far bigger than) the time when F4J came and attacked the boards... do I remember correctly that they took out an ad in the national press or something?

Ofew · 02/05/2018 23:05

I too have been lurking for a couple of months and have never posted. I've always considered myself a feminist and it has been wonderful to find such a great community of funny and intelligent women talking about the issues I am interested in (I don't always find this in real life).

CourageCallsToCourage · 02/05/2018 23:02

Aaah, what have I done?! Grin

Errol I'd never heard it before either! I really need to read up; my history knowledge is dreadful, even on subjects I'm really passionate about.

Another inspired username. Grin

Ner ner Grin

Only I'm going to have to live up to it now! Shock

I really wanted to go to the Women's Place (or was it We Need to Talk? I get them mixed up) event that was really near me a while back, but I wasn't brave enough. I think I need to practice.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/05/2018 22:59

I'd never seen that phrase till the other day when the statue was unveiled. I know far less about the suffragists that I should (which is presumably one of the reasons why it's Fawcett not another Pankhurst, awesome as that clan was too)

streakofmalevolence · 02/05/2018 22:58

Yes yes yes
Have learned so much
Been lurking for two years,it's been an amazing educating, eye opening experience
Wouldn't be allowed to voice these views in work life
So thank you to all you brave women

OvaHere · 02/05/2018 22:56

See you have to post regularly now Courage. We all love your name too much for you to go back to lurking. Grin

EndoplasmicReticulum · 02/05/2018 22:53

Would also like to say thanks, have been reading with interest since wandering over from other parts of the site. I particularly enjoyed the epigenetics thread the other day.

ErrolTheDragon

Thaaaanks. Grin Surprised nobody had taken it already!

RetroTardigrade · 02/05/2018 22:46

I've de-lurked a few times now and do so again now to say: I love this place. Motherhood politicises. I'm stuck in the patriarchal capitalist system spending so much time and brain space on raising young children that I feel disenfranchised, separate from that category of successful people with careers or even just informed opinions about politics and current events.

I love that I can come here and read and think, and it makes me feel so hopeful that one day soon I'll be able to actively contribute to positive change. The posters here are a force to be reckoned with.
