I have de-lurked (un-lurked?) after many many years to say this.
I can only read this board for a couple of weeks before needing to take a few months off in a repeating cycle it's so infuriating and frustrating that my blood pressure canna take it. How do you do it?

There so many amazing strong , clever and impressively persistent women here that I don't have enough hats to take off to you all.

The piss trolls, poo trolls, the patronising , the perverts, the needy, the narcissists and the downright nasty just keep coming and so many of you stay regardless to keep standing up for women.

I picture a line of those tennis ball launchers pounding out the misogyny one side of the net and Martina Navratilova and Serena Williams one the other. You just keep hitting them back with seemingly endless reserves of practice, patience and power.

Thank you. I love you. Hurrah to the women of FWR Mumsnet .

You have no idea how many THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of lurkers appreciate you. Never stop.

(Very) occasional poster here...

Thank you, women of FWR, for your intelligence, humour and courage. Thank you also MNHQ for your stand you've taken on free speech.

Here's to the regulars, the de-lurkers and all those who value this community... WineWineWine

Another delurker. I stumbled across the feminism board after finding the trans widow thread.
I have learned so much from you all. My attitudes have changed, as have my boundaries.

I may not agree with everything said but am glad everyone is able to say it.

Pythagonal · 04/05/2018 02:46

I mostly lurk, but occasionally post, and the regular posters on here have given me so much to think about. Thank you all Flowers

WanderinWomb · 04/05/2018 02:29

I've started posting after having been away from here for many years,, (only returning to lurk occasionally over that period), because of all the amazing posters and work done on the FWR boards. Keep on, keeping on.

Thanks to the Amazing Women of FWR

Feminism and Womens Rights, which is what the Feminism section used to be called.

AliciaSJ · 04/05/2018 01:39

Please can someone tell me what FWR means? I've wracked my brains, I know it's going to be something really obvious. I also think I might like it but I don't know how to find it.
PLEASE, tell meeeeeee!

boatyardblues · 03/05/2018 20:01

Stick around and post, Shoogly. Like attracts like. I am sure you have plenty to say.

Shooglypeg · 03/05/2018 18:34

I registered today after reading this post, and i completely agree. Thanks to all the women here, and to MN for providing this space to talk and debate.

I really thought MN was going to be about baby yoga and anti-vaccine, or something. (Not meaning to diss this, its just not my thing). To my surprise I found funny, intelligent women. I wish I had found this forum ages ago. Anyway, i'm not great at conversations so i'll go back to lurking. For now. Wink

Do watch this. It seems more poignant to me now than when it was screened.

I also didn't realise I was a radfem until I discovered FWR Grin

And I discovered FWR due to being called a TERF and wondering what the hell that was. Before this, I used AIBU and chat only.

I suspect a lot of posters discovered radical feminism in the same way to be honest.

Theinconstantgardener · 03/05/2018 13:42

Mostly lurker, occasional poster. This place brought me back to rad fem activism. Brilliantly funny awesomely intelligent posters. A sanity saver. Thank you. Flowers

OnTheList · 03/05/2018 13:20

When I first posted here I was in awe at the depth of knowledge here, I am now more in awe. The long time posters have educated me on so much.

Definitely agree with this.

You know, its so odd to think that as little as 3 years back, whenever mumsnet was mentioned, I had a lace similar to netmums in my head. All huin and talking solely about your precious babies and prams and that. My first actual visit was a bit of an eye openers to say the least Grin

I love this place, I love you all, and yes, I have never known so many amazing knowledgable people to be in one place. And mainly women too. MN, for me, breaks the stereotype of 'mums/women' massively. And this is why we are under attack.

Oddly enough, I only signed up here after DDs school suggested it. They had a presentation and at the end had listed mumsnet as a place you could join for support. My first post was about being stalked by my health visitor. I pretty much had my arse handed to me too, I felt so under attack. But I have came to love that about here, how people are not afraid to tell the truth, even if it does hurt someones feelings.

WanderinWomb · 03/05/2018 11:45

So much impact LaSqurl, So damn much.

All us de-lurkers thanking FWR is the tip of the iceberg. There are thousands more reading.. The regular posters deserve all the gratitude and praise we can give. More power to their elbows.

Another lurker here.

I used to be very active on a very leftist/socialist community/political board but most political posters there have joined the TRA side. A couple of discussions about Women's Place and people genuinely unsure about what trans means has just led to a pile on to GC people.

This is a board that is very sceptical about id-pol generally, yet trans stuff is somehow an exception. I think it's all part of a generally dismissive attitude to women in the left which this TRA thing had brought out in stark relief.

Very glad that MN is here.

LaSqrrl · 03/05/2018 10:11

Wine lurkers! I am not that long de-lurked myself.

Always nice to hear that mere words have an impact!

Melamin · 03/05/2018 09:49

YesILikeItToo · 03/05/2018 08:26

I agree. I have this really strong feeling that when I left all the thinking about feminist theory to others so that I could study my own stuff those others actually went off and did the work and now I need it they are ready with the tools and vocabulary to tackle the issues.

sportinguista · 03/05/2018 07:38

De-lurking to say that I whole-heartedly support the women on this thread, not had an opportunity to post much because of work being exceptionally busy. I don't know much about feminism theory like many of the regular posters but if believing in women's rights is what it takes then yes, I am one.

I keep peaktransing over and over and the Shon Faye thread both had me in stitches and absolutely raging. What disgusting excuse for a human being associates themselves with death threats on a baby? I've seen no threats at all on these boards towards any trans individual but it seems they consider it more than acceptable to do this.

I believe in free speech, debate and the right of women and girls to privacy and dignity and the right to feel safe. The debate here has been nothing but intelligent, well-informed and polite with a good dose of humour too!

I think at some point one needs to take a stand. Both myself and DH hereby pin our colours to the mast.

GeorgeFayne · 03/05/2018 07:30

A great big THANK YOU all the way from the States for the brilliant, passionate, spirited, and well-informed women of the FWR threads of Mumsnet. I've discovered my inner feminist who had been hiding all these years. I'm learning so much!

And some of your little British phrases are starting to rub off on me. I said "bloody" the other day and my husband looked at me rather oddly. It's great!

QuentinSummers · 03/05/2018 07:02

Awww what a lovely thread Flowers
boatyard your wings cracked me up

ALittleBitofVitriol · 03/05/2018 05:24

Okay, seems like the time to delurk...

This space is one of the most intelligent places on the internet. It's been an honour and great fun to read along. Thank you!
