MNHQ Deletion Policy

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:03

Earlier today the Trans Park Run thread was deleted in its entirety because SOME posts alleging cheating were deemed to be 'not in the spirit' of MN.

We have a thread about that running.

I have just been deleted on the Heather Peto thread for posting this:

"Bless..."

A post intended to be mildly dismissive.

That was deleted for breaking talk guidelines.

Give me a fucking break MNHQ.

"Bless..." gets a deletion!??!?!

TRA really have got you on a short chain, haven't they?

I'd like to examine this phrase please and discuss it openly?

But you have a thread about this already.

The topic here is the moderating policy on FWR. It would be nice if we could keep to it. The comment you're referring to was a test of deletion policy, not a discussion point - in the context of this thread.

My username is what is it for a reason.

What is the reason? Is it to scare people into not posting on trans issues?

ReluctantCamper · 30/04/2018 18:00

yep. humans cannot change sex. I seem to type that a lot lately.

KnittinKitten · 30/04/2018 17:59

Who the hell worded that act?? Someone’s sex cannot change! Hmm it is impossible. A person’s sex cannot become that of a man if the person was born female!

ReluctantCamper · 30/04/2018 17:59

I will not advise of others I report

and then with a swirl of her cloak and a scatter of full stops she disappeared into the night. Leaving us asking each other who was that masked avenger?

IWillReportAllTransphobicPosts · 30/04/2018 17:59

My username is what is it for a reason.

I used to be a regular contributor of this forum but recently is has become little more than a couldron of hatred towards trans women. My daughter is 19 and trans and despite being a very busy working mum I have decided to stand up to this disguting behaviour in what little way I can. I am tired of seeing people call trans women such as my daughter men. I am constantly seeing trans women referred to as ‘male bodied’. Really? My dd is for more womanly than I ever was at her age! This kind of disrespect has to stop.

I will explain myself no more and will simply lurk in the background calling it out and reporting it when I come across it.

TheUterati There is no such thing as transwomen - they are men.

I'd like to examine this phrase please and discuss it openly?

The Gender Recognition Act 2004 states:

Where a full gender recognition certificate is issued to a person, the person’s gender becomes for all purposes the acquired gender (so that, if the acquired gender is the male gender, the person’s sex becomes that of a man and, if it is the female gender, the person’s sex becomes that of a woman).

Is the statement in question not either braking the law, or encouraging people to do so? Does it also contravene the Equality Act? What do you think?

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 17:50

See, if I was as petty as certain other individuals I could report that comment all "she punctuated at me aggressively!"

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 17:48

It would also be useful to look into the tactics used to attack websites in general. If the current coordinated attack via the comments doesn't work then the people organizing it will no doubt move on to another method.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 30/04/2018 17:47

Oh God. Someone reporting threads. That has literally never happened on MN before and we're all terrified of you and your full stops. Hmm

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 30/04/2018 17:45

It's like that Warren in Watership Down where the farmer feeds the rabbits and gives them myxomatosis or something.

Or did you mean another warren?

KnittinKitten · 30/04/2018 17:44

Why do you need to announce it with your name iwill? Just report what you don’t like.

LangCleg · 30/04/2018 17:44

Malicious reporting is as much coercive control of the mods as it is any of us commenting. @MNHQ - I really think you should help your staff out with training because this must be extremely stressful work.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 17:43

If someone created a user account under the name IWillReportAllBiologicallyInaccurateStatements would that be a neutral act not intended to harass or intimidate?

(Again, MNHQ, about that training on coercive control, it's really overdue.)

SupermatchGame · 30/04/2018 17:42

Lang could I please suggest you try and understand the rudiments of bullying, harassment, oppression and transphobia before you start trying to tell the Moderators how to do their jobs?

IWillReportAllTransphobicPosts · 30/04/2018 17:42

I highlighted the first report as it is specifically on a thread about deleted comments.

I will not advise of others I report.

Good day 🙂

Hygge · 30/04/2018 17:42

"Everyone is free to report any post they believe breaks talk guidelines. No need to say anything about it on the thread."

No need to report a post because you want it taken down but also provide a link to a website where you've saved it before it disappears.

If you want a post deleting that badly, why store it elsewhere?

Unless you want to intimidate the person who posted it?

AnnUnderTheFryingPan · 30/04/2018 17:42

I’d consider Iwills post above patronising and belittling.

AnnUnderTheFryingPan · 30/04/2018 17:41

FFS. 🙄

On another thread we had someone accusing Ereshkigal of having a deleted comment contain things that she said it did not. Mass deletion makes that particular form of goady behavior much easier to perpetrate.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2018 17:40

Everyone is free to report any post they believe breaks talk guidelines. No need to say anything about it on the thread.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2018 17:38

A thread with many deletions is liable to be interpreted by those with a particular axe to grind as having been riddled with 'offensive' posts. Even if they were actually as incredibly mild as 'bless'.
