MNHQ Deletion Policy

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:03

Earlier today the Trans Park Run thread was deleted in its entirety because SOME posts alleging cheating were deemed to be 'not in the spirit' of MN.

We have a thread about that running.

I have just been deleted on the Heather Peto thread for posting this:

"Bless..."

A post intended to be mildly dismissive.

That was deleted for breaking talk guidelines.

Give me a fucking break MNHQ.

"Bless..." gets a deletion!??!?!

TRA really have got you on a short chain, haven't they?

but biologically SupermatchGame, and therefore very much in reality, no, humans cannot change sex.

If it helps you, let's put it this way:

A member of the sex class that produces small mobile gametes cannot become a member of the sex class that produces large, immobile gametes and is capable of gestating young.

SupermatchGame · 30/04/2018 18:15

busy I'm not - they are used interchangeably in the GRA.

Sex is now a category that can be assigned legally. You can change the sex of the hormones circulating in your body. But yes - a trans woman is not of course biologically identical to a non trans woman. I don't think anyone is saying that. But we digress....

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 18:14

Sorry that wasn't 'at' you

CadyHeron · 30/04/2018 18:13

Now you’re all pointing out to me that my daughter who happens to be a transwoman is a man. What a lovely bunch you are.

Sad Don't tar us all, I'm a little bit sickened on this thread and the other one too. I'm usually "on the other side" so to speak,so feels strange for me.
Self ID and trans are separate things, and it's clear that some really do have an issue with ALL trans, if you notice though MN have been deleting posts that have crossed lines though.

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 18:13

Was just expressing how I am currently feeling given the relentless attacks on women's freedom of speech I am witnessing.

I'm so bored of the whole centering men's feelings thing.

And I am so bored of ignorant, sexist people who are prone to magical thinking and censoriousness trying to appoint themselves as the thought police.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 18:12

I have no interest in how well people do or don't conform to stereotypes, and think it's sad to see women who do on a feminist board.

busyboysmum · 30/04/2018 18:12

@SupermatchGame I think you are confusing sex and gender.

It's not possible to change your biological sex. Legally or otherwise.

ZenNudist · 30/04/2018 18:10

Im being brave wading into this quagmire but "more womanly" is a joke. More womanly than someone who has actually carried a child in their womb. Womanly presumably referring to stereotypical "female" body characteristics. So what does this mean? Bigger boobs? Better legs? More make up? The mind boggles.

KnittinKitten · 30/04/2018 18:10

You have no objective? Really? What’s your username again? Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2018 18:09

I don't doubt that some transwomen are far more feminine than some women. The dictionary definitions of 'womanly' seem to be about conforming to feminine stereotypes, so Iwill may be correct in those terms.

SupermatchGame · 30/04/2018 18:09

ReluctantCamper yep. humans cannot change sex. I seem to type that a lot lately.

They can legally. Isn't this being discussed on another thread though?

IWillReportAllTransphobicPosts · 30/04/2018 18:09

Kitten I have no objective.

You did that all by yourselves..

DixieFlatline · 30/04/2018 18:09

Now you’re all pointing out to me that my daughter who happens to be a transwoman is a man.

What a lovely bunch you are.

No, they're asking what on earth you mean by your child being more 'womanly' than you were. You brought that into the conversation.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 18:08

I said nothing about your child, IWill. It's the "more womanly" idea in general that seems odd and sad to me, as would "less womanly". Sounds like sexism.

KnittinKitten · 30/04/2018 18:08

Now you’re all pointing out to me that my daughter who happens to be a transwoman is a man.

So you have achieved your goal on this thread then. Well done.

CadyHeron · 30/04/2018 18:08

I'm finding myself in a strange position today, as I'm usually on the "other side" of this debate!
Some posts here and on the parkrun thread are clearly transphobic, and it isn't about trying to shut down in this case.
That'll be why there's so many deletions. If people could not make them, it wouldn't go haywire. If some don't know what it means to not be transphobic, how is it ever going to stop though?

SupermatchGame · 30/04/2018 18:08

Lang I can see your point.

The reason why I highlighted it on this thread is because another poster had asked for it to be deleted and I was trying to explore if sometimes it is worth discussing comments openly rather than always jumping to delete them. So I think it does connect both subjects. Not trying to be funny here.

busyboysmum · 30/04/2018 18:07

And I agree that you cannot change your biological sex. It is physically impossible. None of my sons will ever become female. They will never be womanly in the way that I am womanly. And that is just plain unemotional fact.

IWillReportAllTransphobicPosts · 30/04/2018 18:07

Now you’re all pointing out to me that my daughter who happens to be a transwoman is a man.

What a lovely bunch you are.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 30/04/2018 18:06

°My dd is for more womanly than I ever was at her age^

I'm interested in this statement. Could you expand on it?

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 30/04/2018 18:06

I will explain myself no more

Grin
busyboysmum · 30/04/2018 18:05

The post I had deleted said "yawn". Wasn't trying to be goady. Was just expressing how I am currently feeling given the relentless attacks on women's freedom of speech I am witnessing.

I'm so bored of the whole centering men's feelings thing. Never before as a feminist speaking on a feminist board with other feminists have I had to centre men's feelings.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 18:04

I am exactly as much a woman as my mother was, and if I had a daughter she'd be exactly as much a woman as I am once she was an adult (but I don't, so my niece will have to do).

There are no degrees of woman.

KnittinKitten · 30/04/2018 18:03

I am constantly seeing trans women referred to as ‘male bodied’

If they are males then they are male bodied. There is nothing disrespectful about stating that. You seem confused.

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 18:02

No one born with a penis is 'womanly'.
